Lethal League |OT| Windjammers X Smash Bros X Tron X Jet Set Radio

The discovery of parrying has turned into a pretty huge gamechanger for a number of online games I've been at.

This game is killer. Fun as hell in quick bursts and I always find myself booting it up for a quick round whenever I have nothing else to do.

I almost feel bad playing against good players who don't know about the parry mechanic. Almost. I'm going to enjoy this until they plaster it all over the tutorial.

If you're "charging up" the ball for a big hit, you can press the bunt button to let out a little shockwave that will parry opponents if you use it at the moment of their swing. It costs meter, and you can only use it once per "charge-up," but it can be really effective.

Source: I have parried/dunked Mecha on multiple occasions

First the charge meter, now this. Jesus christ this game keeps getting more interesting.

To start off, Lethal League had a great launch, hitting the target we had set for a month in barely half a week. There’s a lively scene of players and it appears to be steadily growing. From competitive-heads wrecking rookies online in Quick Match to party-goers playing local Free For All battles. Here’s a big thank you from Team Reptile for playing our game and telling your friends!

There will be another stability update this week with more fixes for desyncs, crashes and usability. After that we have a content update planned with a new character among other additions.

Stay tuned!

Guess the game's doing alright.

Tried googling for some video tutorials, but only came across stuff from the old flash game. Are there any good ones for this version?

This thing's fun as hell. What's with so many great local multiplayer games releasing on PC this year?

This game gets really complicated once you find out about parrying. I normally just try to counter by predicting where the ball will go since a lot of people seem to be parrying pretty well right now.

Fantastic game, all the fun and finesse of a great fighting game without any of the dumb arbitrary execution difficulty. The netcode is perfect. I can't stop playing.

I broke down and bought it just now. I set up my Gamecube controller via my Mayflash adapter with a similar layout to Smash. It feels perfect.

THIS GAME IS FUCKING NUTS AND I LOVE IT

the soundtrack and netcode are phenomenal

EDIT: If anyone wants, I just found out you can replace the wav files in the game's resources/audio/music folder with wav files of your own. All you have to do is rename them to match the original wav's name. Not that I would encourage this - the soundtrack is really brilliant. Just figured I'd let you guys know it appears to be possible to jam to your own tunes while you play.

This has become one of my go to games along with SF4 and DOTA 2. Hope it continues to pick up in popularity and they support it with updates.

.

Fuck yeh, glad to hear it Smash friend.

Yeh, I fucking adore this game. It's pretty much everything I need from a game honestly. I do hope in the future they update it more though. while I don't think the style is bad, I do think it still looks a bit too much like a flash game. If they just smoothed out some of the rough visual edges it could do wonders. And add characters!

Anyway, if anyone wants to get their ass beat, let me know. Bout to get on now.

So they just rolled out a little update that stopped the custom music trick I talked about earlier from working - except not really. You just have to replace .ogg files instead of .wavs now. A bit more inconvenience but it still works :p

Huh. I notice all the ogg files are way smaller than the .wav files so hopefully they made that change for performance related reason and not necessarily because custom tracks have some sort of detrimental effect online.

Since they haven't said anything along those lines though, guess I'm plugging Miller Ball Breakers in there again.

Having a hard time finding people to play with online. Sort of dampening the experience so far

Will be adding this to my wishlist. Not huge on fighting games, but damn, this caught my eye. I'll play it once I'm sick of Destiny.

I don't know it could be. I guess location could play a part, since I'm able to find players pretty quickly. Do you have it set to 1v1 and distance set to default?

Oh and I'm always down to play!

Can you steal with a Smash, or just with regular swings?

So basically, I'm looking at the store page, and wondering if I should pull the trigger on this.

I remember thinking the same thing about SpeedRunners and that's my current favorite game right now... I'm loving what I'm hearing about this so far.

Looks crazy!

SpeedRunners is one of my favorite games on Steam, and Lethal League is right up there. It's a hard game to put down.

New update: http://steamcommunity.com/games/261180/announcements/detail/255899869120500845

This stability update features many Quick Match fixes and tweaks. You can now get matched with 3 players from Free For All Quick Match. A sound is now played when a match is found and various errors are solved.

Gamepads can now automatically map to player bindings. Which makes it a lot less troublesome to just plug in and play. Note that it is set to a Xbox 360 controller and you can deactivate the auto-binding in the Game options.

Check the link for the changelog. Lots of good updates.

The definition of front-butt.
"*Sound effects are now partially clipped after rollbacks, this prevents most ‘fake’ death sounds from playing "

Hey I asked for this. Thanks. :)

Dice is out! The game is also 50% off for the weekend!

Here's the entire update: http://steamcommunity.com/games/261180/announcements

This update adds a new character to the Lethal roster, Dice, the cunning ping pong player. Dice wields an average ping pong paddle with such immense force and control that he’s able to deflect and give a spin to almost anything at any speed.

And there’s more! All characters can now use expressions, like NICE or BRING IT. Added to that is a character unique animation. A new mode has been added called ‘Strikers’, give it a spin by switching the 'Free For All' tab and see what that is all about. Another reason to start ballin' again is the raised XP level, going up to 33 now with new palettes and a special ball as reward.

Another addition is a new stage called ‘State Manufacturing Facility’ which has quite a different size than other stages and includes a brain-damaging track by artist Ishanna. New music can also be found in the menu with another track by Dr. Lazer. Several specific character changes have also happened, be sure to check them all out!

Changelog:

Character changes

+Added a new character, Dice
+All characters can now use expressions with the Express action and a direction
+All characters can now do a express animation
+Sonata can now use her special move backwards
+Raptor can now bunt out of his special
+Raptor can now wallslide
+Added a new aerial down angle for Candyman
+Candyman’s re-candyball now has reduced hitpause
*Candyballs now have a maximum speed
*Candyman now fastfalls slightly faster
-Candyman no longer automatically re-candyballs a candyball from a different team
*Latch’s special can’t be re-aimed at the very last moment anymore and has slightly different timing

Additions
+Raised the maximum level to 33, with new unlockables along the way
+Added Strikers mode, you can toggle Strikers mode by pressing the Free For All team toggle button.
+Added the Gravity Ball as new unlockable ball
+ Added a new stage ‘State Manufacturing Factory’
+ Added a new menu track ‘Turkish Mix’ by Doctor Lazer.
+ Added a new track ‘Error’ by Ishanna for the ’State Manufacturing Factory’ stage

Other changes
*Fixed an issue where infinite point mode would not work for team games.
*Fixed an issue where aborting a game started through versus mode with teams enabled would cause the host of a game to be able to swap team palette colors instead of the regular free for all palettes.
*Fixed an issue with main menu highlighting when using a mouse to navigate.
*Choosing a character for a CPU player now uses the same highlighting scheme as a regular player.
+You can now ready in an online lobby by pressing the start button.
+ You are now be able to change color by pressing a character portrait you have selected again.

Edit: Ooh :( This thread has been laid to rest in Community. RIP.
