I recently got a huge promotion at work that requires a lot (if no all) of my time as a graphic artist. That means I can no longer devote as much time as I'd love to as an independent designer. That doesn't mean I will fully stop but I'm afraid my freelance projects will be much smaller.

Unfortunately, my future OTs are inside that category so I'll have to step aside on my Captain Toad OT. For better or worse, I have high standards when it comes to my work and that obviously effects the quality of the OT. I simply cannot release something half-assed so it's better if I give it away completely.

It's up for grabs so anyone interested can take it.

I'm still doing the Mario Kart 8 DLC OT since 95% of the work is already done.
I spoke to Aeana and she has no problem about it.
I'm not sure what the future of the Yoshi's Woolly World OT is but since it doesn't have a release date yet I'll keep it until I make sure I can work on it. If not, it'll go for grabs aswell.

Sorry for any incovenience and I'm looking forward to whoever decides to take it :)

A question if I may ask. Being part of the press, and having been recently given a copy of Lords of the Fallen to review, is GAF okay in me still doing the Lords OT? I'm perfectly fine to hand over the keys to someone if people feel it teeters on impacting me making an OT without prejudice (my current draft though is pretty much the game and what it is about, no opinions or anything).

Hope you don't mind if I highlight it a bit, Roo. Last time a WiiU OT got dropped nobody noticed and we didn't have an OT for a while (because the information was "hidden" in a longer text). Don't want another Hyrule Warriors situation. :)

Dawg is a part of the press, and it seemed like the moderation team were fine with him creating OTs.

Just to put it in here for posterity's sake, I will be posting an OT for the Extra Life effort tomorrow. I cleared it with Bish today and will be updating the post with GAFfer streams so everyone can have a chance to get some donations from the community.

Yah, I think it's more a problem when you're part of PR. I'm a freelance reviewer/editor and I'm pretty open about that. I think most people know that about me :p It's just a hobby of mine though, so it's not like it's my job and I get paid or anything.

That said, if the mods ever had a problem with it, I would understand. I really like making OTs every now and then though ;_;

Ah awesome, good to hear. Yeah I quite like doing an OT here and there, helps having access to high quality screenshots and information. I'm directing this one as non-biased as I can but in the same token giving all the necessary information.

I'm afraid I won't be able to work on the Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- OT efficiently, given the time the game releases will be overlapping with end-of-semester projects and finals. Last semester things didn't work out so well for me for a variety of reasons, both family and school related, so now I'm in a position where I can't afford to take that kind of time away from my studies. I would either put too much into studying/projects/papers and half-ass the GG thread, or risk putting potential time into pulling myself back up in classes in jeopardy. I'd rather have someone else who can give an Xrd thread its proper dues take a crack at it. I'm sorry folks, but I gotta drop this one.

Just a simple suggestion, maybe someone already said it.

Now that the OTs are updated the official release date of the game, can't we sticky them for just a week? That way is both informative and clean.

I'm down to help you out on the Yoshi's WW OT if/when that becomes a problem.

Do they have dates for those 3 games? What is the time frame for calling OTs? It is 6 months now right?

OP doesn't say anything about timeframes. There are games claimed going up to December 2016 right now. Star Fox is a 1st half 2015 game, atm. Xenoblade 3D and CN STEAM have generic 2015 dates but they should be out in the first half as well (speculation but highly likely).

Sure thing :)

I'm pretty sure the rules changed recently. You only can claim an OT for a game when the release date is known
All those who claimed OTs before the rule change can keep them but we can not longer claim them without a release date.

It's like if I claimed the OT for the next 3D Mario game or you claimed GTA 6

Then, I guess if it's ok with Nemesis_ when he updates the thread, I'll take the helm on this, really looking forward to the game.

Also, scheduled for December 16th in North America, so it can be moved to December 2014, Nemesis_.

So you can't claim OTs for Nintendo games until a month before they come out? Since that's how they handle their weird release date announcements these days^^

In that case, someone should update the OP to reflect those rules.

I'm pretty sure you can claim as long as it's officially announced. Not that the rules were ever really ironclad. Just be reasonable. Don't claim Mass Effect 5.

Now that I'm reading Levyne's post, I'm not sure which one is the right way to claim OTs
If it only takes a game to be officially announced to claim its OT then you're good.
You're right tho. OP needs to update the rules. Maybe a mod can get involved to clear things out a little.

Ahh okay, I thought there was like a timeframe now. I remember there was a conversation a while back and people agreed for games up till Q1 2015, first half of 2015, or something.

I mean, it's possible that I missed something, but I'm pretty sure the general idea is just to try to keep things neat so that people can collaborate and work together on OTs. Hard to do when people queue up into the far far future or speculate on unannounced games.

Yea I always found it ridiculous that unannounced games like Metroid U and Animal Crossing U have claimed OTs.

I went all the way back to June and this whole "rule change" was nothing but mere talk so I apologize. I messed up
moveltica was the one who wanted to know/set a clean way to claim OT's

Yeah, the "rules" for claiming an OT need to be defined perfectly in the main post of this thread.

Is it okay to claim something at first reveal?

Does a release date need to be announced first?

What about leaks?

That stuff needs to be explicitly outlined. It comes with the territory with a forum of NeoGAF's size — especially when said forum is continuing to grow at record pace.

And this was Stumpokapow's response:
As for right now, claim it when you want to but:
a) A claim does not give you a claim on the thread. You have no more right to make it than 250 people who didn't claim the thread and later express interest in making it. The purpose of claiming is to avoid people independently wasting their time and both posting, not to give someone a fiefdom. In 99.9% of cases, people don't care enough to need to pitch in if someone else is already putting the work in. But in the 0.1% of cases, if you are not willing to work with people who want to help make the thread, you do not get to make the thread. The person who most favours cooperation is the person I'm going to side with every single time, I am not ever ever ever going to care about someone who thinks they have a right to do this. I don't care if you have a full chest tattoo of James Bond getting into a gunfight with a Helghast, if someone else wants to make a Killzone 007: Quantum of Boring thread when the game comes out, you work with them. It's not a contest to see who is the biggest fan and we are not giving out prizes.

b) A claim is a pledging of responsibility, and if you claim something 5 years early and don't follow through because you forgot, honestly, mods have no reason not to junior or ban you because you went out of your way to cause a result that negatively impacted other people.

Nemesis does an extremely good job maintaining this thread, extremely good, all of us on the staff know that. Which is why it's important to know when a pissing match breaks out, instead of people working together, you're sending the message that you don't respect him and you don't respect us.

Then nothing.
Nothing came out of it. There were no rule changes, no one agreed upon something.. nothing.

Do they have dates for those 3 games? What is the time frame for calling OTs? It is 6 months now right?

There's no specific timeframe, though we've agreed that the game needs to be formally announced. That said, there's still some claimed threads in the OP that fall before we agreed upon that, and that haven't been deleted yet. I prematurely claimed Fallout 4 during the hoax-announcement craze last year, for instance.

Now that we're gearing up for another season, I look forward to doing it all over again. :lol

I think if people stay reasonable, a hard forced rule won't be necessary.

If people keep claiming silly stuff that won't be releasing until like 2016, I can see the mods reigning down upon us and changing the entire thing like how OTs are now posted on release day.

Could be wrong.

well that or trying to claim things that have not been announced yet.

i still think overall the ot day changing was bad business. mods should more just make it a case by case basis since obviously its the large threads is what they are concerned about from the reasoning behind the change.

How often is the OP updated? My New Nintendo 3DS Australian Launch OT isn't listed there yet.

either way, very good work by the OP in organizing it all.

I need some guidance. I have the Nexus 6 |OT| ready to go and they just opened up pre-orders. BUT it doesn't ship for 3-4 weeks.

What's the protocol here?

Edit: Carriers get it 11/13, so unless I get a waver from a mod, I'll make it live on 11/6.
