With the emphasis of big stages for 8 player smash, kinda surprised no New Pork City.

Must be saving it for the Lucas DLC

Here's the official PR, forgot to add it to the OP.

Ridley: Fans have been clamouring for Ridley to appear in a Super Smash Bros. game for a while and now they’re getting their wish – but true to form, Ridley appears in an unexpected way. Players will find him in the Metroid series-inspired Pyrosphere stage, but he does more than just hassle players. If one player attacks Ridley enough, Ridley will join that fighter’s side and attack others. Players (including the one on Ridley’s side) can KO Ridley to earn the point for match results. If Ridley consumes the energy to the side of the ledges, he will become Meta Ridley – and all the more vicious!

So... they know...

Oh yeah and one thing no one's talking about: we got confirmation of communities! I'm actually surprised they did it, too, because I thought they wouldn't. Thank goodness we don't have to be limited by For Glory anymore or For Fun's stupid 2 minute time limit.

AND we won't have to worry about registering a billion people just to play against GAFfers. Yay.

I really wonder why this wasn't in the 3DS version but I guess that's just indication of how rushed they are to get these out as it sounds like the communities feature won't be there at launch. :/

Man, super-pumped about Great Cave Offensive (so colorful!) and Jungle Hijinx with the background/foreground layers. Kalos Pokémon League and Wrecking Crew also look great. I love that Norfair, Port Town Aero Dive and especially DELFINO PLAZA are coming back (especially fitting since Bowser Jr/Shadow Mario are in the game). Heck, I even like 75M. I'm surprised there is no Game & Watch stage, but I suppose that Wrecking Crew and 75M are great catch-all retro stages. The stage selection is so good!

The G&W stage is probably an unlockable stage.

I'm not sure if there'll be unlockable stages since the one screenshot shows 40+ stages, but the example shot of 8-player with the darkened squares shows a lineup that is probably the starting lineup, and it's less than 40.

The Pac-Land stage from the Pac-Man reveal trailer isn't in that screenshot. It's be quite odd if that screen has every stage except that one (and Miiverse, but that doesn't count).

Stages from the website's image. (yeah i mislabeled Yoshi's Island as N64, but its melee. I fixed it on the second one.

We're missing the Game and Watch stage(s), Pac Land and I think there's a few others too. Plus custom stages.

For the controller setup, I'm gonna have 4 GameCube controllers, 2 Wii U Pro controllers, and 2 Wii Classic Controller Pros. Hopefully this won't overcomplicate things.
It will.
I am super excited for 8-player matches! I wonder how they'll actually play out. It got borderline chaotic with 4 people. Lol.

I have 4 Wii U Pro Controllers
3 soon to be 4 GC controllers
5 Wii Remotes
2 nunchuks
1 Gamepad
Oh my controller body is so ready.

I think that one icon that looks like the Smash Bros. menu might be some new bit in Pac-Land rather than a "back" button.

this, it will be a huge time saver, got lazy adding people and or giving friend codes in the 3DS version.
hope its like the one in MK8, those community options were perfect.
like i can imagine no items or pokeballs only or smash balls only etc,

thank you based Sakurai

What's even more disappointing is that we have definite confirmation at this point, at launch, there will be no stages that weren't already in Brawl. Any stage being brought back is going to be from Brawl. We aren't getting Fountain of Dreams, PokeFloats, Saffron City, Dreamland 64, Mute City, etc etc.

I can't even believe they brought back Mario Circuit when they created a new one of the same name. What kind of loon does that? Why? Why didn't you instead bring back a different Mario stage? Why even bring back any Mario stage from Brawl when its franchise was saturated with literally the same kind of stage in the 3DS version?

I just don't get the stage choices here. It really is looking quite bad in some spots.

Yup, agreed on that end. I was also really surprised at the amount of "Also this!...will be coming later". Ends up giving me a message that this game is coming in hot since they need it out this holiday.

Man the dual plane switching in Jungle Hijinx is an amazing mechanic but I really wish that it was used in a DKCR locale other than yet another jungle. I've said my piece on jungle stages many times before but I was seriously thinking it would be different this time. Guess not :(

At least we got a Woolly World stage, which was pretty much my dream Yoshi stage that I thought was impossible since the game isn't out yet. Ecstatic that I was proven wrong though

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
So does your content/characters that you have unlocked on the 3DS also become available for the WiiU when you connect both versions? This is a deciding factor on whether I buy the 3DS version before The WiiU version hits.

It honestly doesn't sound like they will. It blows but it just means I'll do all my character creation/editing on the 3DS since you can transfer mii fighters and character builds and not bother with it on the Wii U version. I was hoping for extra mii gear on the Wii U but oh well.

Characters seem unlikely given that more of the "secret" ones are already unlocked from the beginning and they have the "Challenger Approaching!" screens for wii u.

Trophies? I don't think so either since there's different ones. Maybe some just for linking the two though.

Character preferences though (your "custom" character) definitely will when linking.

Kongo Jungle was in Brawl?

Which Brawl were you playing? It wasn't in mine unless I have Project M installed.

In fact this confirms the opposite, stages not in Brawl are fair game. Kongo Jungle should get anyone wanting non-Brawl stages excited and hopeful.

I'm actually more hyped about the new music and trophies. The core game is the same as the 3DS version, so I already know what it plays like.

Anyways, did you guys hear that Engage the Enemy remix!!!??? Holy shit, I cried tears of joy.

Thanks, well I guess I'll just skip the 3DS version for now. I was hoping to have the characters all unlocked at launch for the ultimate multiplayer experience.

It's disappointing but I'm still beyond stoked for November 21st!

So yeah based on what we have seen of Ridley and I am merely speculating if he was made playable his Final Smash is him going into the background and rushing the screen to ram one or more players for damage.

He is also shown to have at least 2 attacks. He slashes with his claws and seemingly has super armor during the attack. His other attack that was shown was a Tail Attack that goes through the stage.

He also can traverse the ground and air and has knock down and even a dodge animation. And unlike Metal Face or the Yellow Devil when he get's KO'd he is KO'd in the same vein as a playable fighter.

Yep yep.

Yes, I shouted "Oh my god yes!" out loud as soon as I heard that Engage the Enemy remix. Sooo good. I need to hear the whole thing, like, yesterday.

Yoshi's Island is in 8-Player Smash, but not the Coliseum?

I'm guessing size isn't the only factor. If the background is too busy/detailed, the game may not be able to hold its framerate, so the stages are blocked. If you notice, a ton of the final destination stages are still blocked, so it's not based on size.
