it's like the sixth nintendo game with dlc. if they do anything in the future i'll bet we get extra stages as well as characters. maybe even new modes in 2015 too.
A guy can keep dreaming about Isaac and Andy being added.

If I had been shown that image a few months ago, I would have probably BELIEVEd. Even when everyone would have been logical enough to guess that it was a boss KO.

Just ballparking it. GilvaSunner's Smash 3DS playlist has a runtime of 369 minutes. The Direct showed what looked like 3x the music of the 3DS version.
Even conservatively, 1000 minutes of music = 16 hours.

Thanks to the direct, I'm even more excited for Smash 4 Wii U. Can't wait to try out 8-player Smash with my brothers, cousins and friends! 
Thankfully, I already have Smash 3DS so I'm ready to get Mewtwo (even though I don't really care but am happy for Mewtwo fans).
Edit: Oh wait. Forgot there's 3DS owners who wants Mewtwo but does not want a Wii U system and the Wii U version. My bad. Just me assuming mostly every Smash player getting the superior Wii U whist skipping 3DS version.

GOTY right here. So much content. This is what I was expecting from Destiny when I bought it as a digital copy. Smash is untraceable. Just look at the content. So stoked. Once I finish GTA V on PS4, i am Smashing through December and will give Toad a try as well. What an event.

I finally caught up with this thread. All I can say that Smash U Direct is fantastic and I'm very pleased with the contents that we found out by Direct. Mewtwo is just a huge bonus character to our roster. I can't help but wondering if we re going to get more characters or not.

DLC makes me sort of nervous though...
It's broken the boundaries of Smash hype! Before, you knew all the characters were there on release, and patiently waited till the next Smash...but now...m-my speculation rosters are ruined!
I hope Sakurai doesn't do too much DLC and runs out of characters for Smash 5.

All I could think of while watching the cinematic with all the Koopalings was that it's nice to see Mega Man treated with such reverence. Makes me want to see Nintendo make a collaboration 2D revival with Capcom in the vein of NSMB.

It was kind of hard to tell from the Direct what the main single player mode will be. Does anyone know? Or is it just Classic mode, All Star and Event Mode as your staples? Is Smash Tour a potential SP mode? Doesn't look like it. Special orders? I can't lie, I'm a little disappointed there's no Subspace or Adventure mode equivalent, as flawed as those were. I can certainly understand why they were cut - they just don't show off Smash at its best - but I'm still a little disappointed.

I must say I'm not a big fan of paid DLC in a game like this, but I'll probably still buy any new characters. Other than that the modes sound cool, we'll probably spend a while playing the Smash Tour with my friends. I hope those special modes are unlocked right away, because we're getting together to play Smash/Nintendo games on the weekend of the game's release.
And I feel bad for anyone who cares about Ridley, this is just too much for you folks!

I love that the normally single player modes can be played with 2 players now. My roommate and I are going to have a blast with this.

What's so good about Mewtwo btw? Never was into pokemon. Just a fan favorite pokemon or something?
The 150th Pokemon! The original Legendary! A huge part of our childhoods! He's also cool in his own right.
Basically how I reacted to it, except without the whole running out of the room part. I was watching with my roommate, and cause I had given up hope for Mewtwo long ago I didn't even notice it was him at first (so many people noticed from the feet!), then my roommated said it might be Mewtwo and I was just like "don't hype me up for nothing...don't hype me...omg...OMFG." And then I just screamed my head off in sheer disbelief.
Its how I feel too; Mewtwo is a pretty big deal for me as a kid who grew up on Pokemon gen 1, and after the Greninja reveal where I was fooled into thinking it was Mewtwo I just gave up. I still can't believe he's actually coming.
He's the original legendary pokemon and "ultimate pokemon", and to this day is still one of the strongest pokemon around. He's also the one pokemon to ever be depicted as a villain (aside from Darkrai, who is good in some interpretations and evil in others), has had multiple movies centered around him, was the first pokemon with an extensive backstory, and is still very relevant to this day, being only one of two pokemon to have 2 mega evolutions (the other being Charizard, who is also in the game). Most importantly though, he's already been in Smash Bros back in Melee, and was cut in Brawl due to time constraints despite having an original moveset.

To pretty much anyone who has gotten into Pomemon at some point, Mewtwo is a big deal.
And A LOT of people have gotten into Pokemon.
