So for at least three days I've had the MCC installed (along with update) waiting to be unlocked tomorrow night. This morning, my xbox prompted me for an update, and now, the MCC says "installation stopped" at 59.1GB and that I should either reinstall (fuck that) or rs my box to get an update. Which I've done. Twice.

Should I be worried here or.....

Installation stopped refers to the Pre-Order Skull you have in your Queue. It can't download it now.

I had the same problem, I just hit re-install and it started from where it had stopped.

Just so i'm clear on this:

We all know that Halo can still be competitive with Sprint as long as they don't add the other crap what made Call of Halo 4: Modern Borefare crap, right?

343i, please come to mellow us out for the next 38 hours.

It doesn't bother me too much, but I believe that sprint can have a negative effect on map control and gameplay flow.

Nope.

Sprint...

...shit.

At least it will make that one reviewer happy who was shocked to discover that you "can't run" in any of the Halo games outside of H4.

So, I'm currently reading through the Forerunner Saga to try and catch up on Halo Lore.

I enjoyed Cryptum, though felt it was a bit slow, but... does Primordium pick up? I'm about a third of the way through, and so far it's just been a mind numbing slog of reading about people walking around. Are these books worth sticking with? I don't know how many more times I can read variations on "I was tired and thirsty."

Edit: The characters did just arrive at a 'great salt lake' though, which is making me chuckle.

I'm disappointed,but not surprised.

However, i think that it can still be good, provided they focus on the gunplay and movement rather than loadouts and perks and whatnot. Also if they balance sprint by decharging your shield energy or preventing you from recharging them, i think it would work a lot better and not as a "get out of jail free" card.

Sprint can definitely be made to work better than it did in Halo 4, and it's inclusion doesn't automatically mean that Halo 5 is going to suck... But I just don't see what benefit it brings. How does it help the gameplay, outside of the reasoning of "other games have it"?

It's functionally similar to ADS. You're toggling between the ability to move and the ability to shoot, which isn't what Halo gameplay is about.

We've written 1000 essays and could write 1000 more and sprint will still not go away. It's all ogre.

Digital. I have it preloaded and all ready to go!

I'm too lazy to head down to a midnight launch :3
That's too bad, my friends and I make a tradition of it.
Love the atmosphere, contributes to my hype tenfold

But having the game preloaded sounds appetising for sure.
We're getting the footage tomorrow. I expect meltdowns similar to H4's GI reveal.
That was so bad it was like, a whole event.

Timeout, what was the Halo 4 GI reveal?

Edit: do you know what time tomorrow Cyren?

They revealed Halo 4's modernisation by talking about sprint, loadouts, player rewards and the randomisation of weapon spawns. Poor Frankie, he tried to calm everyone down everywhere by saying "its okay guys you'll like it when you get context :)" but it was absolutely cataclysmic.

I'm a junior member but i've been lurking these threads for years.

I don't agree with these ADS comparisons. Yes, the same sort of toggle is present however the implications on gameplay are fundamentally different.

- Sprint increases mobility, whereas ADS decreases mobility.
- ADS decreases your accuracy when hip firing, sprint has no effect on hip firing.

These two differences completely change the effect of toggling between moving and shooting. ADS forces you to use it in a firefight, massively affecting the basic in-fight gameplay. Sprint discourages you from using it in a fight and is (or should be) only used to enable players to rejoin battle more quickly. Therefore not effecting the basic in-fight gameplay in a meaningful way.

Or to put it more simply, with ADS BR duels would suck. With sprint BR duels remain awesome.

As for any benefits of sprint, I think there are a few:

- Increased mobility
- Less downtime as you can return to fighting more quickly
- Increased options for skill jumps (Haven has a bunch of these)
- It's actually quite fun to sprint around the battlefield

what a day that was

How Is Your Day Posted this, I TAKE NO CREDIT

astonished to be honest :(

Are you allowed to post pictures like that?

Edit: That info has to be a fake.

Frankie/David, please get in here and say this is fake.
Please.
Please.
Please!
If any of this is real, I...I just can't.

This HAS to be real. Holy shit.

And people said I was too negative.

just put halo 2 on xbla if this info is real

oh my god

OH MY GOD

OH

MY

GOD

What a franchise

Sounds like it'll either be really positive, or really negative.
Or people could be realistic and realize that there is a list of pros and cons to this stuff.

It's not like it'll be just a paragraph explaining that their favorite franchise is dead because sprint is back.

People need to keep their heads cool aand go into the beta with the mindset of finding out what works and what doesn't and give 343 feedback. Don't just go into the beta with the mindset that it's all fucked because there's sprint. During that one month period,it's up to us to make Halo 5 the best game it could be,there are no excuses in that time slot.

So right when MCC unlocks.

Damn! Too much will be happening all at once.

No need for the accusatory tone, I'm by no means out for a witch hunt and I absolutely agree. I don't mean to give off that impression at all, I don't consider myself salty or anything.

Plus like I said earlier sprint personally isn't a huge deal to me so long as randomised weapon drops are out, which i'm assuming are.

Having 3 weeks of Beta with 11 months before release is pretty freaking nice. Lets just be constructive with feedback.

They really need built-in Feedback tools like how the preview build quiz's work.

How do you feel about (feature x) 1-5 scales, polls, etc

That would be a much easier way to get concise feedback than forum fishing

This.

Let's not assume the game is going to be completely ruined due to the inclusion of sprint. If the beta shows that it has a genuinely bad impact on the game, then raise (constructive) hell about it and maybe 343 will listen. We are getting a beta almost a year before release, it'e not like they're going to ignore everything we say.

No real issues with sprint. More mobility is fine by me but personally I am way more interested in what they do with Forge. 343 are releasing a great Halo ass Halo collection. Halo 5 need to do something interesting without freaking out the fans. At least those fans have some Halo coming.
