Assassin's Creed: Unity microtransaction shop wasn't fully live in retail copies

This is probably correct. Didn't try to buy micro-currency, but the menu option was always there.

Like I can understand having issues, but at least have issues with things they actually did.
The servers are up now, right? Because gamespot just tried it an hour ago on a review copy on stream, and the option was still disabled.

Man oh man, after far cry 4, no more ubisoft for me. How the fuck can they treat their customers this way? It's unbelievable.

All that Jeff was saying in the podcast was that the servers were down when he opened the in game store which is very common for unreleased games.

People need to stop seeing conspiracy theories everywhere.

Isn't that somewhat important, though?
I would say so but I'm just saying the logic behind prices not being displayed.

These transactions are still processed through your system's store and account so if they aren't published on the store they wouldn't be accessible.

I think I will pass on all future ubisoft releases unless they change their ways.

Last ubi game I played was a pile o shit anyway.

Fuck you Ubisoft.

man, fuck this stuff. I haven't bought a Ubisoft game in quite a while and, for the time being, it will remain that way.

Shame, considering I wanted to play Rayman (Origins and Legends) and Valiant Hearts, but I can't support a company with such scummy practices.

Let's not let a pesky little thing like "The Kotaku review, which was based on a review copy, explicitly mention them" and "The US gamer reviewer came in here and said they were in their review copy" get in the way of a 50 page bitch thread.

That's shady as hell...but as for the micro transactions, is it anything more than a fast track? If it's just fast track, who cares?

I suppose the argument is always made to sag that because it can be premium, they push you toward it...is that the case?

How does this work? Are review copies tagged in some way where Ubi's servers can push different, or in this case withhold, data from them?

That sounds really slimy if so as they could use that ability or all kinds of nefarious purposes.

Can Schreier/anybody else from the press who is on GAF confirm this?

We might have reached a whole new level here.

hopefully review sites will stop being spoonfed shit like this and embargoes that end after a game releases and tell corporations like ubisoft to fuck off

they won't

Because they built the game to encourage you to pay those microtransactions. There's a ton of stuff to buy in the game, and the amount of relative in-game gold you get is low. It also allows you to bypass unlocks, and with all the stuff to unlock it'll play on people's patience. It's predatory.

Wrong about commas, wrong about everything
Again, this might be a weird joke from Ubisoft. Or real. I obviously have no idea. But the whole premise of the game is that you play a game in the game. So it COULD be a joke. But I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if it isn't.
Still, I would just wait before we all jump to conclusions.

Does anyone have a solution for reviewers to have online stuff enabled when they can't connect to the servers? The gun is jumped here.

I don't know guys, seems like a bit of an over-reaction. They still have the hack feature there which is microtransactions but they couldnt connect to the uplay server. Are review copies meant to connect you to the Uplay server before launch? or at all?

Someone who reviews should let us know if its normal for a company to not let you connect to their servers during a game review.

I was just playing on a retail release of the game (from Steam) and the Ubisoft servers/backend were down. I could see the microtransaction page, but attempting to buy anything resulted in an error.

I think you guys are blowing this out of proportion. Sure, it's bad enough to have microtransactions in the game but don't flip out over something that hasn't been proven true.
