Hey Nintendo, how about you print a second run of the first few waves with better stands since the first run is being received this well

Went to a local independent store. They had one Mario and a Link left, so I bought'em. That's all I wanted (other than Samus).

Although they're hard to get now, I hope they're easier to find this holiday and in better supply afterwards. I get supply and demand, but it'd suck if people missed out on their favourite Amiibos this holiday :(

I'm heading to Toys R Us when they open tomorrow for the 3 for 30 deal so it will be interesting to see how that turns out.

I doubt your store had 30 Marths in stock, let's be real

I already got my Yoshi, so haters gonna hate

Gonna have to preorder that Shulk I suppose

Actually thats about right, I was at my friends Gamestop while they were setting up their Amiibo display and was talking with them and they said they got around 25-30 shipments of each character.

This is their Amiibo display

They also showed me the belt they have for the Smash WiiU Tournament they're holding this weekend

What do Amiibos actually do in-game? I watched the video on Nintendo.com just now, but all it really said about their functionality with Smash is that you place it on the WiiU Gamepad and "watch them level up."

Is it basically just a way to record your wins/losses and gives you "experience points" that are saved to the memory of the Amiibo?

Electronics, they have a spot in there for amiibos at my Wal-Mart

GAH

Forgot the other two places I visited - Wal-Mart and Toys R Us.

Both are not selling them until tomorrow morning at 8 am. Want to know why?

Wal-Mart: because employees were planning to buy them all. Whatever shipment they were receiving wasn't going to make it to the floor because the employes planned to purchase most of them.

Toys R Us: because they are across the street from a middle school. I couldn't get any information from them, so the spoiler is just to make you angry that you read this.

Going to Best Buy after work to pick up Pokemon and Smash. Will probably buy a few if they have any left.

Otherwise I'll just go online

Glad my Samus is arriving from Amazon tomorrow.
I'm not comfortable ordering these off Amazon. I'd want to see them firsthand before buying.

When you scan in your Amiibo, it becomes a CPU-controlled character in the game. You can fight against this character, or team up with it, or have it fight your friends and their Amiibos. The Amiibo can be customized in appearance, moves and gear. You can feed it equipment to level it up faster. It also levels up by fighting. And it learns from its opponents. So for example, if you fight against your own Amiibo, you can teach it to attack enemies off-stage by chasing it off-stage yourself. You can teach it to taunt after defeating an enemy, by taunting yourself. You can teach it to go after items or to chase down Smash Balls, by doing that yourself. It learns from your actions and the actions of its other opponents. Also, Amiibo collect prizes for you like coins, trophies and custom moves at the end of each match. :)

Right now they unluck bonuses in other games and level up in Smash, so people are buying them for various reasons.

I went to walmart today and saw their amiibo display. Amiibos had their own section with the smash controllers and adatpers ( just the tags for those though). They mashed up the skylanders and Disney ones on the display right next to it. I was actually kind of surprised how big of a section the Amiibos got.

I just got my Figma Link in the mail today and now I'm starting to get the Amiibo shakes... god fucking damnit. I know there are like 5 I for-sure want.

Glad I preordered... all of them.
I did too for pickup at my local Best Buy. Got an "your items will be ready" email for all but the Villager. Several hours later, I got a separate email for the Villager saying it'd be ready. Then less than an hour later, a cancellation email for Villager and a "we're sorry" credit email for $5. :(

Not happy.

I'm going to hit Target in the morning right when they open in hopes of snagging a Villager, but I'm not terribly optimistic.

Our store didn't get in any of Marth, WFT, or Villager. Not sure what the likelihood of the figures being popular at our store are, but the display is definitely a real attention getter, even with the blaring COD:AW display across from it.

Just a FYI, some gaffers helped me with the math and I found out that if I end up importing amiibos from Amazon I'll end up paying about US$ 40 on each, after taxes and fares.

I was pretty sure these would go big. Seems like I am right, atleast at the moment. Glad that these can increase Nintendo's profits. I just hope I can get the ones I want since before they stop making them I can only get like 2-3 a month. :(

Pls don't let Wave 4 come till like August.

Sorry, didn't mean to intrude. Thought you were in a big city. That fact makes it even more interesting, though.

No worries at all. I agree with you - I'd understand the large city part much better as well.

These sales contrast pretty heavily with a typical product release here.

haha whoops, meant to make a thread. Carry on.

Looking forward to Amiibos myself, I hope I can actually find some at my local TRU...

I'm not surprised those are selling well right now. I wonder if the sales are going to stay high after the initial fan rush.

Who here is just buying them to collect/admire? Well, maybe not JUST, but who primarily wants these for their aesthetics and not the in-game goodies?

This is not a veiled "amiibo = shit quality" post, this is a genuine question.

I'm glad I pre-ordered from ToysRus website the moment the sale went up......
My city is very good about these kinds of things though. We always have enough stock of almost everything because there are so many retailers in the area. If I can't find it at one store it's at another store.

Have a Mario Amiibo but pre-ordered Marth and Link. Waiting for Little Mac, Ike, MegMan, and Shulk in the upcoming waves. Hope Lucina gets released soon. I'll be by a ToysRUs tomorrow morning, maybe I'll stop by to see their stock situation & get Marth/Link while there and cancel my pre-orders.

Every one that I really care about isn't until like the spring phase (Mega Man primarily) so I'm going to just go in and grab one of the ones in stock tomorrow that I kind of like
