Man the casual reaction to sfv is strangely negative...all I seen about it is how it looks like sfiv or console war bullshit. Not a lot of genuine interest or excitement seemingly.
Hope this doesn't turn into a 3s scenario where the General public doesn't give a shit anymore.
No but it does represent the "hardcore" majority, or however you want to classify video game enthusiasts.Don't worry, GAF reaction doesn't represent the casual reaction.

Yup. GG guard bar serves the same purpose with more interesting results. The pressure felt by the defender becomes very real once they see that bar flashing violently, and the longer they're under those conditions, the more likely they'll try to escape pressure doing something stupid - ID out of a corner, 2P/2K etc. Once they finally get opened up, you're essentially rewarded with a training mode combo. It feels so effing good. Compare that landing Ultra because you got beat up for half a round or mashing X-Factor out of block string and running through an entire team. You can't.
That said, I've always LOVED the guard break mechanics of Soulcalibur 2. I'd like to see a 2D fighter go that route. I know Mr. Karate has some form of dedicated Guard Break move, correct me if I'm wrong, but typically, GBs in 2D fighters are tied to something more universal, yet are less prevalent.
Oldschool gameplay is so much more rewarding. Please let SFV help bring it back. We don't need it to "reintroduce" casuals to fighters again.
Surely he isn't so out of touch to not realize how bad region locking characters would be?
...
I think it represents an echo-chambered subset of the hardcore, but FAR from the hardcore majority. I think the hardcore majority hates/would hate GAF on principle.

The top 4 GOTY picks from last year are the same between GAF and enthusiast review/press. Starts to deviate a bit further down. This forum isn't some special snowflake. Once your sample size covers enough of the forum userbase the results become pretty damn average.
Look at that man's shirt and tell me if you think he's out of touch.

Would you not say that is the casual audience? To put this another way: Don't you have friends who learn of all the new games and announcements from you? Gamers who don't participate in any internet enthusiast stuff, but buy consoles and play games anyway? They make up the larger consumer base.
So it doesn't except when it does? Ok, a bit arbitrary for my tastes though. It really doesn't.
The people who post on GOTY threads are not the folks who post regularly, most of them are lurkers.
Great link, thanks SmoothKen Bogard (french commentator) just made an SF5 analysis video with lot of informations he heard from a reliable source.
Great link, thanks Smooth

Why are you completely ignoring my example?
Great translation, thanks SmoothNo problem bro (Yeah i fixed the link). Guess i'll have to translate as well ?

OMELETTE DU FROMAGE REPRESENTS.

Your example is that the opinion of the user base is invalidated by the opinion of the user base. I honestly don't know how to answer that other than possibly reconsider how you chose to interpret the observations.
Only 16 characters?
Alright so regarding that video :
- Time / Weather effects in stages
- Release date : 2016, before the end of the fiscal year.
- Unreal Engine 4
- The new mechanic is named V-Trigger : You can change your stance.
- 16 characters
- No Super Street Fighter 2X + EX (Updates kinda like League of Legends)
- The story mode will be way much better, they know they fucked up with sf4.
- The PC version is here mostly because they want to bring the game to Latin America, South Asia, Africa...
Well, the updates will probably bring characters, kinda like League of Legends. I'd really like to know more about the business model tho'.
Then I want you to prove that those people don't post regularly or that they are not involved in the discussions that happen on this forum. This should tell us that those who post regularly in this board don't even represent the GAF majority, so how can they represent the "hardcore" majority?
aka KI
Yeah totally forgot about KI
If its only 16 characters at first, are they really just gonna do the SF2 characters again?
Is MT Framework dead? And stances? O=Alright so regarding that video :

This would be a good mix.I have the feeling they will go crazy with the characters, not as crazy as SFIII but similar. Like, 6 classic characters + 4 oddballs + 6 new characters
Wait, what video?
And 16 characters sounds about right. That's close to what SF4 launched with right?
Edit: oh nm, its right there

16 characters is a great number to start with and end with assuming they are balanced well. Hope it's half returning half new.

The game looks so fluid and meaty, loving that. Hope we see at least 1 or 2 more characters at Capcom cup.
