So are we switching to "November next year will be really interesting" now? Because I don't see Xbone winning anything for at least a year...

Wtf? Sony has a history of throwing money around to ps gamers detriment? Sales parity y dies not equal competition.

nintendo has stuck to their guns for as long as they can; they need to slash the price of the Wii U. offer a non-bundle at 179.99. if they can't do that due to manufacturing costs, then they were just incredibly shortsighted when they designed the thing. i really want to see this system thrive as the software they're creating for it is quite simply of astonishing quality, and i want more people to be able to enjoy it.

you sure enough did. Your musings are incredibly important it seems to me, they tend to be impressively accurate, relatively speaking. You really do have a good finger on at least the vague outline of the pulse of the NPD monthly results based on the numbers you can access.

I already considered your musings very important for predicting any given month's numbers, but now I think they've increased in value even further.

I like that approach.

Rake in profits, establish Amiibos, release a next-next gen console in a couple years that's fully compatible with previous Wii U/Wii games, alongside the new hand held successor.

Or perhaps the new handheld will be a home console hybrid.

Why is that hard to believe? Lest you forget there were times it did only 77k or so in a given month (that was April I believe?), and that outside of US and UK its lows have been even lower than that?

TBH anything north of 6...maybe 6.4 million sold-through is being extremely generous to MS

If the sales of the Xbox One decrease and are lower than the PS4's in the coming months - we will see this "warchest" that MSFT has get tested.

It honestly seems to me that there are plenty of posters who have no idea what a business is supposed to be. Rich companies don't stay rich by losing.

As to your inquiry, our stores saw a *lot* of PS4 inventory. Our local Sony/PS rep was in my home store talking with management about shifting extra stock. We restocked the floor pallets/piles repeatedly.

The XB1s we had (the bundles anyway) were selling out very quickly... But that also has *some* to do with MS not really sending us aggressive inventory through the month. I think we saw 1-2 major shipments (which weren't small, mind you), but they weren't on the same level.

So the XB1 'velocity' was higher, they'd sell really fast from the aggressive thing, more people piling in at the urgency points, but the PS4s were just constantly selling at really, really solid numbers. Just chipping away at that sales lead with a relentless momentum.

AC Unity and the MCC issues really didn't help, either. A few of our stores were outright accepting *returns* of MCC because of the faulty launches. Normally, we don't accept any opened software returns except as an exchange for the same game. We were giving store credit in most cases, but, yeah. Some seriously upset Halo fans were seen. Bundling the PS4 with 2 games that received near universal acclaim and especially GTA V continuing to sell gangbusters...

Anyway, that's why I couldn't make a clear call for either system last month. Clear differences in the mindset approaching how to sell this month... If MS hadn't basically eviscerated their own bottom line, there wouldn't have been any contest.

NPD is an estimate based on retailer surveys. if the numbers ARE that low, it's basically in "margin of error" territory. Either console could have actually "won."

but that's all academic and doesn't really matter. the story here is that the xbox either didn't move the numbers they needed to with the price drop and master chief collection, or sony somehow managed to move phenomenal numbers without doing much of anything.

either one is very bad news for microsoft, because bleeding money for no real gain isn't sustainable.

That was just stupid and nowhere true. Off course third party publishers will publish their games on xbox. Why shoulnt they ? The xo is lacking behind PS4 yes, but its still sells very well and has a huge consumer base. Do you have any economic awareness at all thuway ?

THATS HUGE!!!!! I'm honestly excited for the future of gaming if this is the case. That more than makes up for my Wii U disappointment. I am floored.

One of the BEST console months ever then!

Either that or CBOAT was referencing something else
