The 2014 results thread is hilarious in hindsight.

1. Splatoon: Despite what my post history may suggest, I do like shooters... provided the atmosphere is correct. I see a tremendous amount of potential in the game and could be the start of something amazing for Nintendo.
2. Overwatch: Similar reasons to splatoon, albeit this is more easily comparable to the likes of TF2, and could be argued that this is a bit safer.
3. Code Name: S.T.E.A.M: Something reasonably high-profile for 3DS that isn't a standard turn-based RPG. Really cool aesthetic in both how the characters are designed and what they're based on.
4. The Legend of Zelda Wii U: It's 3D Zelda
5. Xenoblade Chronicles X: This being relatively lower on the list is primarily my fault, because I tend to avoid XCX threads/info due to me not having finished Xenoblade yet.
6. Scalebound: Hideki Kamiya. The chance of it being awful is nonexistent
7. Rodea the Sky Soldier: Currently japan only. Cool enemy design, but the development hell did take somewhat of a toll on visuals
8. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
9. Star Wars: Battlefront: I enjoyed 1 and 2, but I don't expect anything mindblowing on this front.
10. Star Fox Wii U: Will probably be a much smaller game than people think, but I've liked some of nintendo's smaller offerings recently, such as Steel Diver SW. This could be fun.

#1 Batman Arkham Knight: What can I say, I love super heroes, and the past 3 titles have been some of my favorite games of all time. When a game definitely the end to a trilogy, how can it not be my number 1.

#2 Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain: Metal Gear is my favorite game franchise to date. I think that the Batman Arkham games can only top this, but the sheer quality and depth that the story let alone the game play has in insane. The games can become confusing, but there is no doubt that this will be on the highest rated games of all time.

#3 Uncharted 4 A Thieves End: After seeing 15 minutes of gameplay at PSX, you can not deny that this is one of the most detailed and incredibly intense and fun looking games ever. Almost all of it plays without any issues, and slow downs. The take downs are brutal and look satisfying, ND does not want to mess this game up, so we can expect a solid game, with a great story, character development, and basically the entire package.

#4 Star Wars Battle Front 3: DICE, although they have let us down with BF4 in the beginning, they have made it up to us with some great stuff. They know that if they screw up Star Wars, well its time to start digging their own graves. Because they will become the most hated developer ever. What other reason do you want.

#5 Tom Clancy's The Division: For a game that is trying something new, with a completely new game engine, what isn't there to anticipate about this game.

#6 Mortal Kombat X: Fatalities.

#7 Until Dawn: I have been a fan of fast paced choice based games. Heavy Rain, and Beyond Two Souls were some great titles. Throw in a typical horror flick movie style. Why not.

#8 Evolve: After the big alpha, I don't think I ever played a game where I was just completely hooked on. I didn't care that I had to wait 30 to 40 minutes to get one match. It was worth it.

#9 The Order 1886: Lycans, werewolves, who cares. That's all I want in a game these days.

#10 No Mans Sky: Ambitious for Indie. Why not.

Now if these games are coming out in 2015, then push down all the games by one place. #5 Rainbow Six Siege it in my top 5 games for 2015 for sure.

I can only really list two games that I'm super excited about.

1. Quantum Break: Made by Remedy, creator of Alan Wake, one of my favourite games of last-gen; this game looks to be a mix of Alan Wake + Max Payne game play, and has an interesting sci-fi story.

2. Arkham Knight: The original Asylum game was one of my favourites of last gen; it reminded me a lot of Metroid Prime, and I expect similar quality with Knight.

1. No Man's Sky : This is easily my #1 right now

2. Uncharted 4 : ND are gods. The PSX gameplay looked incredible.

3. The Witcher 3 : This looks to be the RPG of the year. God knows I will never finish it lol.

4. The Order 1886 : This game really jumped up after the PSX footage. The atmosphere alone has me sold.

5. Metal Gear Solid V : Ummm... It's metal gear.

6. Halo 5 : Hopefully 343 can redeem themselves here.

7. Rime : We don't know much about it, but boy does it look good.

8. Bloodborne : Looks like a more fast paced Dark Souls. I'm sold.

9. Quantum Break : Loved Alan Wake. Looking forward to this.

10. Evolve : Was a big fan of Left 4 Dead series. This should be great with friends.

5. Xenoblade Chronicles X
6. The Great Ace Attorney
7. Yoshi's Wooly World
8. Yakuza 5
9. Splatoon
10. Mario Maker

Western games? What western games?

1. Xenoblade Chronicles X: It's weird to think I also listed "X by Monolith Soft" as my Most Anticipated 2014 game. And I'll just ask anyone reading this, again, to look at the gifs. I became a big fan of Monolith Soft after their amazing work on Xenoblade for the Wii, which many of us hold in our hearts as one of the best RPGs of all time. Seeing them pour so much love into this new gem, as shown to us in the Treehouse Experience at E3, giving us a huge world, full of life and great variety, that you can explore by just flying around in a giant mech, exploring while enjoying a, so far, beautiful soundtrack crafted by Hiroyuki Sawano. The art style is good, the story looks interesting, and both the graphics and music are amazing. The only thing to do left is wait. This can be one of the greatest games of all time. We'll just have to wait for it.

2. No Man's Sky

3. Persona 5

4. Dying Light

5. Bloodborne

6. The Division

7. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

8. Splatoon

9. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

10. Overwatch

Honorable mentions:
The Tomorrow Children
htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary
The Legend of Zelda
Assassin's Creed Victory
Final Fantasy Type-0

So hyped, my list has changed a ton but let's do this!

1. Persona 5 (PS4) : I am willing to throw out any amount of money the most expensive version of this game. The Persona series has a whole has really grown on me in the last year and I can not wait to jump in to this game. Day One all the way, just hope that day is soon!

2. Splatoon (Wii U) : Ok, so this game looks charming as hell. The gameplay mechanics make me want to jump into it right a way. Plus, it looks colorful as hell. You had my curiosity Nintendo, but now you have my attention.

3. Witcher 3 (PS4) : Looking at last year's list, I had this at #4. Nothing has really changed, other than them delaying it three more months will hopefully make this game well worth the wait. I can not wait to get my hands on this.

4. Bloodborne (PS4) : As somebody that has never played any of the Souls' games, I am hyped as hell. The gore and the enemies and the random dungeon oh man I want it now. This is definitely worth getting the Collector's Edition Day One.

5. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 (PS4) : I am a HUGE fan of the One Piece series, and I also love the games. I am not even waiting for this to get localized, day one import baby!

6. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4) : As someone that never played the first three (HD Trilogy WHEN!?), I can not help but to be extremely hyped for this game.

7. Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 (PS4) : God, I grew up with Naruto and playing some of the older games in the franchise. I am excited to have the whole universe at my disposal and just go crazy.

8. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (Wii U) : This game looks crazy as hell, just all that color makes me want to play it now, February can not come soon enough!

9. The Legend of Zelda U (Wii U) : Now, the only reason this game is here at #9 is because I only recently fell in love with the Legend of Zelda series through the Remastered version of Wind Waker. Just everything about this game looks so vibrant and the open world just looks remarkable. I know I have said this multiple times now, but I can not wait to get my hands on it.

10. Mortal Kombat X (PS4) : I have also been getting deep into fighting games recently, so much so that this game will cause me to purchase an Arcade Stick. Hope it makes its April release date, perfect game for my group of friends.

Well, 2015 looks like it will completely blow out 2014 in terms of gaming. My list is so stacked I had to leave off Dragon Quest Heroes, Yoshi's Woolly World and Fat Princess Adventures and more. Next year will be awesome for sure!

1. Bloodborne: I bought a PS4 on Black Friday for this game (don't expect the price to get that low again by the spring). The Souls games are at their best when you don't have the safety blanket of a shield, so I'm excited to see an entry completely designed around that.

2. Metal Gear Solid V: One of my favorite franchises ever, and 7 years (!) is plenty of time for me to develop a hunger for some more Tactical Espionage Action.

3. Uncharted 4: I'm one of those who think there's exactly one great Uncharted game, but what a game it was! With Staley and Druckmann directing, and the smart improvements they seem to have made to the enemy encounters, I'm cautiously optimistic that this will be closer in quality to 2 than to the lesser entries.

I would like to know if King of Fighters 2002 UM count? It is releasing on Steam in 2015

1. Yakuza 5 : Taxi race battles, bear hunting, epic Idol Dance Battles, feels, manliness, kickass beat'em-up action. Being a big fan of the series, I am ecstatic that this game is finally getting its long awaited english release.

2. Grim Fandango: Remastered: Despite owning an actual disc ver. of this game, playing it on the go on my Vita will be a great way for me to experience it especially when I'm at work.

3. Day of the Tentacle: Remastered: A PnC classic that I've heard so much about and am eagerly looking forward to playing it too

4. Mighty No. 9: I need my Megaman fix, this is the closest I'll get in a while.

5. Xenoblade Chronicles N3DS: Heard a lot about this game and I'll finally get to play it once I can find an N3DS for cheap :V

6. Godzilla The game: It's a game where you get to wreck shit as Godzilla and other Kaiju what's not to get hype over?!

7. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain: They had me at Fultoning Sheep

8. Ryu ga Gotoku Zero (Yakuza Zero): This game looks to include more gameplay options while keeping the traditional Yakuza series gameplay intact, but upping the awesomeness tenfold. Also you get to play as Majima Goro in his prime

9. Batman: Arkham Knight: You get to drive the batmobile, and it would be the first Arkham game I play since the first one =X

10. Ori and the Blind Forest: Liked what I saw from the trailers and I hope it'll be an entertaining experience

Okay...

1. Tales of Zestiria:

Well... I'm a big big big Tales fan. Any new Tales game is going to be the one I'm most excited for. Tales is my most favourite video game franchise ever! The characters don't look as fun to me yet as some other Tales games. But some of them seem fun. And the new mechanics look like so much fun! I just can't wait to play this game!

2. Splatoon:

I don't normally like games about shooting. But Splatoon looks really cute and different. I'm more excited for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, but that's a 2014 game. It makes me want to paint things! I love the squids, they're so cute! And painting things isn't very violent!

3. Xenoblade Chronicles X:

At first I wasn't as excited because it was just showing exploring plains n' things. But now that I've seen parts of the plot it seems really interesting!

4. The Legend of Zelda:

Well, I really like Zelda games. And I really like the design and everything about this one, too. It looks just as beautiful as Skyward Sword. Even more beautiful! Link's design is really neat. And hearing that there will be lots of exploration sounds like a lot of fun.

5. Mario Maker:

Making the types of Mario levels I've always wanted to play sounds like a lot of fun! And I guess I could try romhacking, but this sounds easier. And it seems to have all sorts of nice new things. It sounds like a lot of fun to make like my own kind of Mario world.

6. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse:
It's a new Kirby game! I always love new Kirby. I am getting a little tired of the yarn type of thing. It reminds me a lot of Canvas Curse and Epic Yarn and things like that. I would really like another Kirby's Adventure type of game. But it's still a Kirby game and I'm still excited about it.

7. Yoshi's Woolly World:
I feel kind of like I do about Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. I would kind of like a game a little more like Yoshi's Island. But it's still a Yoshi game.

8. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter:
While I don't like it as much as Tales, it's a good series. And it's on Steam.

9. Disgaea 5:
I'm a big fan of Disgaea! I love the characters and the character designs!

1. Persona 5 - I'm a relative newcomer to the Persona franchise having played through 3 and 4 on the PS2 in 2012/13 then later on Vita again (more times than I'd like to admit). I have never played a game with as much style as the Persona games. I still can't stop thinking about them and play at least one song from the OST a day. I'm obsessed. Persona 4 is my all time favourite game (I never thought KOTOR would be dethroned) so to say I am excited for P5 would be an understatement.

tumblr_n6pn96EpcH1t9xsnro1_500.gif

2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - The Witcher 1 was a rare treat. I did not know what to expect going in but I was totally in love with the dark mature setting. It's rare I read up on lore for a game as I find most game settings to be so terribly dull. Not here though. Witcher 2, maybe even better than 1 so I can't wait to see where they take the series with the open world setting and returning characters from the books.

tumblr_ne6kb165V51s7dhyjo3_500.gif

3. Bloodborne - Demon's Souls > Dark Souls > Dark Souls II (which was pretty average to be honest). This game gives me Demon Souls vibes.

tumblr_nabtiaCjr31spheiko2_500.gif

4. The Legend of Zelda Wii U - Every so often I fall off the Zelda train, but I played Wind Waker for the first time this year and am totally back on. I love the art style of this one. My only concern is that the open world will be boring.

tumblr_n6yr5yW4ia1qdyfl1o7_500.gif

5. Xenoblade Chronicles X - A character creator in a JRPG?!

tumblr_nb2ueifAgv1rwall9o1_500.gif

6. Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS - Not played the original release on the Wii. So will finally see if it lives up to the hype when it comes to the New 3DS.

tumblr_mh36x3cTfm1rk5vz5o1_500.gif

7. Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem - Does this game count? Bah I'm putting it anyway. Surely 2015 right?

tumblr_n3pvnhitVq1t82um5o1_500.gif

8. Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number - Just go listen to the first games OST.

tumblr_ng556y3KCC1qbqbieo5_r1_400.gif

9. The Banner Saga 2 - One of the best games of 2013. Criminally overlooked on GAF. Great music, good story, amazing art.

tumblr_mxw02vwzc01rrl8r6o3_r1_400.gif

10. Pillars of Eternity - I want to love CRPGs. I really do. But I find most of them so dated when I try go play the classics. Divinity OS was great so I'm going into Pillars with a lot of optimism. I backed the game so the wait should be over soon.

Honourable mention - Cuphead

1. Yakuza 5:
I actually already own this game. I've played a few hours so far and it's just as amazing as I had expected. Playing Japanese games is a bit tiring to me since I'm not excellent at the language so that combined with getting distracted by other games (including Ishin) made me put this one aside for a little bit. I was just about to get back into this when a localization was announced. Yakuza is a reminder of the old Sega who got everything right.
2. The Legend of Zelda:
I'm not one of those people that thinks that Zelda is the best thing that has ever happened to gaming but I've loved nearly every entry into the series. This one is beautiful and expansive. Aonuma seems ready to take a lot of risks with this one so this could easily be my game of the year.
3. Disgaea 5:
I'm a sucker for strategy RPGs, big numbers and elaborate mechanics. The Disgaea series is perfect for me.
4. Persona V:
I love a game with style and Persona games are loaded with it. This probably won't come out in America this year but I may be tempted to import it.
5. Splatoon:
One reason I don't like a lot of modern games is that developers nowadays seemed obsessed with things like realistic models and the fancy shading effect du jour. Developers seem to forget that color is important. This game is loaded with it. Graphics aren't everything. The game looks fun too.
6. Star Fox:
It's been a while since we've had a great space ship shooter. I'm a little skeptical about the use of the game pad but I have faith in Miyamoto.
7. Xenoblade Chronicles X:
Giant mechas? Great RPG mechanics? Large world? This has it all.
8. Mario Maker:
Nintendo's LBP? Should be great.
9. Final Fantasy XV:
Please don't screw this one up, Square.
10. Ratchet and Clank:
As a kid, I reluctantly accepted that Nintendo was almost as good as Sega in order to push back against Sony and Microsoft. The hatred of those two companies was real. Eventually, my hatred of Sony disappeared and I bought a PS3, primarily for two games: Valkyria Chronicles and Ratchet and Clank. The lack of information about this and movie tie-in makes me a bit skeptical about this one but I'm sure it will turn out great.

1. Persona 5: If you told me 10 years ago that a JRPG would be my most anticipated game in a year when Zelda and Starfox were coming out, I would have said you were mad. But here we are, in 2014, and I have to say that this might be one of my most anticipated games of all time. Hell, I think I'm more excited for the soundtrack alone than most other games.

2. The Legend of Zelda Wii U: Zelda always delivers. While some may get disappointed with franchise quirks, I've been pretty happy with everything the series has done. There's a level of quality to each release that is always consistent. I have no doubts that this game will impress.

3. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: Witcher 2 was a bit of a surprise, and one of my first forays into high-performance PC gaming. I've upgraded my computer again specifically again, so I'm absolutely hyped. However, it's not without caution: 2 wasn't without flaws, and I have my doubts about the move to an open world. But in terms of writing, everything I've seen has been as strong as I've come to expect from this series, and the graphics, while inconsistent lately, are still a treat due to strong art direction.

4. Codename S.T.E.A.M.:What's that? You're telling me the creators of Fire Emblem and Advance Wars have decided to make an XCOM/Valkyria-like tactical action game game set in a steampunk alternate reality where Abraham Lincoln fights off lovecraftian monsters? How is anyone not sold on this game?

5. Bloodborne: I don't have a PS4 yet, but this will definitely be the reason I'm getting one. I don't expect Dark Souls, and I think it's foolish to do so, but I think From Software gets tension and world building, so I have very high hopes for this game.

6. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse: I'm absolutely stunned that we're getting a sequel to Kirby Canvas Curse, which was an utterly brilliant game that changed a lot of people's minds about touch controls at a time of high skepticism. That they've gone with a cute and creative clay theme is just icing on the cake.

7. Metal Gear Solid V: I didn't play the demo last year, but I'm excited for this game nonetheless. Kojima is always good for a crazy ride, and I doubt this will be any different.

8. Splatoon: If I have to give Sakamoto credit for one thing, it's that he's constantly trying to do different things at Nintendo. I wouldn't say that splatoon is something that immediately appeals to me, but it has a lot of potential and the team seems really behind the idea.

9. Just Cause 3. I honestly don't think Just Cause 2 was an actually good game, but it worked in a stupid way that not many open world games are able to re-create. It's gonna be good for some shits and giggles.

10. Xenoblade Chronicles X. I'm only putting this on here because I liked Xenoblade Chronicles enough to check this out. The problem is that everything I've seen looks pretty awful. Moving to a custom created character with a new focus on online additions throws up a ton of red flags for me. But still, Monolithsoft has proven themselves, so I have to at least give it a look.

1. Uncharted 4:
Uncharted was the first game I played on last gen and my love for the series has not waned. After the PSX demo it has risen to my most hotly anticipated title for years.

2. Silent Hills:
Kojima, Del Torro and my favorite franchise. The PT demo just reignited my love for survival horror.

3.The Witcher 3:
Completely missed the first game on PC but enjoyed the second on 360. I just love a good ARPG

4. Everybody's Gone To The Rapture:
I've not seen much of this but have very high hopes after playing through Dear Esther. It'll be dripping with atmosphere.

5. Bloodborne:
This one came out of the blue and I immediately loved the art-style, atmosphere and creature design. As a massive fan of Demon's Souls this is a must buy for 2015.

6. Metal Gear Solid V:
I only played through 2, 3, 4 and GZ this year having been put off a lot by the stealth mechanics, but after experiencing this much loved franchise I count myself among its biggest fans. Looking forward to playing through this like a damn fiddle.

7. The Order 1886:
Had this baby pre-ordered for months and despite a few hick-ups it looks to be back on track. Graphically outstanding and has mother flippin' werewolves.

8. No man's Sky:
I'm not sure what to really make of this one. Procedurally generated games are usually a lot of fun but by their nature very light on story. I'm hoping this space scavenger sim proves to be a lot deeper than its counterparts.

9. Planetside 2 (PS4):
Despite the hatred Destiny gets I really, really enjoyed playing it this year and it got me in the mood for more team based shooter MP. I've heard from a few of my PC playing friends that PS2 is one of the best MMFPS ever made.

10. Rime:
Visually stunning and reminds me a lot of ICO on the PS2. Who cannot be wetting themselves at the thought of an open-world puzzle/adventure game that looks this damn good.

Honorable mentions:
Quantum Break (despite not owning an Xbox One it looks great and is by Remedy)
Grim Fandango
Deep Down
SOMA
Among The Sleep
Until Dawn

1. Bloodborne
Souls fan yo. Bought a PS4 yesterday just for this.

2. Persona 5
This is coming right? Wow.

3. Metal Gear Solid V
I'm anxious about it but still day 1. It's Metal Gear after all.

4. Majoras Mask 3DS
Never played it before. Should be fun.

5. The Witness
This has been intriguing me for a while.

6. Resident Evil HD
The greatest horror game ever on PS4.

7. Hotline Miami 2
Always ready for some drug hazed ultraviolence.

8, 9, 10... Whatever cool Wii U games I get to play on my friends console.

reading through this thread it's just very clear that 2015 will be one fucking hell of a year for this industry

1. Zelda WiiU : I am already embarrassingly hyped for this game. This is the sort of Zelda title I used to lay in bed dreaming about when I was a young lad. There are too many reasons I can list, but if they can truly thread the needle here: merging a gigantic explorable and dynamic world with a focused and compelling narrative and the trademark tightly designed and puzzling dungeons... well this will be a seminal game

2. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse : Kirby's Canvas Curse is nothing short of a genius 'platformer' which has a nearly perfect skill/learning curve progression, immaculate mechanics, and post game content which open's up the true challenge and fun of the core concept; surpassing the main game. The art style of this one is brilliant and I'm confident that Nintendo can deliver once again. That said, not too interested int eh co-op elements.

3. Splatoon : New Nintendo IP motherfu*#ers!!! Nah but for real this game is Oozing with style and charm, boasts tons of original mechanics that look to be merged to make just the right seasoning for a truly special online multiplayer stew. A focused Nintendo who are back to knowing exactly who they are and what they're good at is such a lovely thing to have this gen. It makes me feel tingly.

4. The Tomorrow Children : I have the utmost faith in Q Games, and Cuthbert specifically. What I've seen I already love, and my heart really wants to see a game where total strangers actually can cooperate with minimal trolling while romping around in a slightly uncomfortably clean abstract dystopia

(and the rest I don't have time to write stuff about, but...)

5. Yoshi's Wolly World

6. Inside

7. Star Fox Wii U

8. Witcher 3

9. Bloodbourne

10. Mario Maker : (please please please contain at least 65% of the true potential and toolset that people are fantasizing about and hoping for. This could be something truly magical if the games various palette swaps kept their physics intact but then also allowed you to switch from style to style mid-stage, and string together sets of stages of various styles culminating in a boss battle. JUST IMAGINE!! GAH)

honorable mention to a plethora of very cool looking indies, also if Skip Ltd at any time confirm that new Art Style games are coming out in 2015 then they will immediately shoot to #2

1. Zelda : Another step into the franchise, another installment to be excited about. It's Zelda, It's Nintendo and I'm looking very much forward to this. A Link Between World was a step in the right direction, I hope they take what they did good in the previous games and combine it with the obvious huge world and make exploration interesting.

2. Killing Floor 2 : With over 200 hours put into the first one, several heads chopped off zombies and loads of dosh later, I can only be looking forward to this. Killing Floor is one of my most favorite games of all time; it's fun, it's hard and it's so damn satisfying to shoot zombies. I hope the sequel can top the first one, but it's gonna be tough.I do believe in you, Tripwire.

3. Rocket League : What? You remember Super Sonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars on the PS3? No? Well, I'm sorry. Because SSARPBC was a great little gem, and if they manage to improve the framerate and matchmaking, this game is going to be glorious. I played the alpha back in summer on PC and I can happily report that they did improve on those two things and added alot of new stuff. This is going to be glorious.

4. The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask 3DS : YOU'VE MET A TERRIBLE FATE, HAVEN'T YOU? They are bringing back this classic and I'm goinna love it.

5. Rainbow Six Siege : Yesssssssssssssss. I love Rainbow Six. Raven Shield was truly amazing, and Rainbow Six Siege reminds me of this. I liked the two Vegas games, but they were not as tense and tactical as Raven Shield. Siege doesn't seem like it will top it either, but it reminds me more of what I think when I think Rainbow Six than Vegas did. It's also nice to have a tactical shooter instead of your typical military bang bang (please don't be this and please make it work, Ubisoft).

6. Splatoon : This shooter looks FUN, so much FUN FUN FUN. COLORS. FUN. NINTENDO. YES.

7. Batman Arkham Knight : More Batman and not from WB. Rocksteady is going to finish their trilogy and I hope this one turns out good.

8. The Witness : Puzzles, beautiful island, great art style, Jonathan Blow. This game got me hooked from the very first time I saw it. There's nothing yet I dislike about it. I hope it delivers.

Honorable Mentions

No Man's Sky - I was really close to put this on my top list above and it looks so cool. But I don't know what it is and I don't want to set up my hopes. I really hope it delivers because it could be an amazing title.

Star Fox - Information is scarce but it's Nintendo. I hope this game ressurects the franchise.

Mario Maker - Interesting concept, could be a pretty cool title.

There are a fair number of games high up on peoples lists that are sequels to beloved series I've never played/got into. I am interested in both MGS5 and Persona 5 but haven't touched any of the games. Where should I start in terms of reading up/prepping for possibly playing them in the future?
