Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker |OT| rrrrready for adventure!

blu

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.
Come on, come oooooooooon /PAL Cartman

Just finished 100%ing this. Took me 22hrs according to the activity log, though AT LEAST five hours were spent on
Mummy-Me Maze Forever
.

Overall it was a really great game and I'm glad to see Nintendo experimenting in interesting ways with their "lesser" characters. As others have said though, I wish there was a middle zoom level, and perhaps a bit more challenge. Also... does anyone know if there is a way to select another file for a fresh playthrough?

Just finished getting every gem and every challenge. Great game, well worth the $40.

Now I just need to beat that damn maze. Gave it a few tries and got up to 38, but have to take a break now as it starts to wear on your hands after a while.

I 100% Episode 1-3(the main game).

I loved all of it, it's adorable and one of the best games I played this year. Took me around 9-10 hours and I'm satisfied with my purchase, I haven't touched the bonus stuff and I'll do it someday when I want to revisit the game.

Was finally able to pick this up. Such a charming and fun game so far, and I love that you get bonus missions for having 3d World.

Was afraid the camera controls would be a problem but I don't really move the controller much when play so it's not an issue for me so far. Still would be nice to turn motion off though.

yea it's just not an issue for me since I hold the controller pretty steadily, and even if I move it a bit, it's really easy to compensate with the stick. Takes almost zero effort.

that said the fact I NEVER use the gyro controls is enough of a reason to supply the option to turn them off... ah well.

The wait for this to come out here in the U.K. is really starting to physically hurt me.

I've decided to buy it digitally so I thought I'd try that preload thingy, except that all I can do right now on the Eshop is add it to my watch list. Is there a specific window of time I have to wait for before I can preload, like two weeks before release date for example?

Just got to the second book. I think it's neat how zooming in causes the view to be orthographic, but it makes huge bosses look scary since they're huge even when off in the distance :p

As mentioned upthread, you can also click the right stick for an ortographic view. :)

Just like Mario 3D World last Christmas, this is sold out online everywhere. How? :(

Conservative printing I'm assuming. Nintendo hasn't been particularly aggressive with retail releases. For good reason, really. Digital continues to rise and Captain Toad is something of an unknown quantity from a sales perspective.

Billion unit seller incoming!

Finally had time to boot this up (I bought it a few days ago). 3 levels in and this game is oozing charm.

edit: Hahaha I missed the 2nd shy guy with my turnip on the 2nd level, and he chased me around the big stone mushroom 4 times with Toad screaming. This is great.

What's the post game content like for this then? Is it just those Super Mario 3D World levels?

Feel free to tell me via a spoiler tag..

That is one part. The others are 4 levels where the Toad Brigade replace the gems, 4 levels where Mummy Toad follows you, and can replay non-stage levels. Doing everything unlocks a Mummy Me stage where you have 50 levels and the objective is 5000 coins.

In short pretty disappointing post-game content. Time trails also unlock nothing but stars for your book (woohoo...)

Some 3D World levels
Some levels you have to find the members of the Toad Brigade and they will follow you around the level, if one is hit it's game over
Some levels Toadette is chased by a mummy Toad, like the ghost Mario from 3D Land
The initial chapter of each book with a hidden golden mushroom in tricky places
50 level maze with randomized levels, you are chased by a mummy toad and other creatures each level, Piranha Plant, Fire Piranha Plant, Charging Chuck, Magikoopa, etc. At the end you have to collect 5K coins

Hm, looks like the game might be due this week in the UK after all. Given one of the EU countries had the release date pushed forward (I think) I wonder if this leads to more flexibility for the EU release date in general. Or is GAME breaking the street date?

Wish I could afford it right now.

All of Europe had the game pushed forward a week. Initially it was set for January 9 everywhere except for Spain because of a Spanish gift-giving Holiday set around that time so Spain had a January 2 date until NOE moved everyone else up a week, too.

The game was obviously done and ready weeks ago and I think they may have just been trying to get their copies printed. I get the impression that these are transitional issues after the closure of their old NOE HQ/Warehouse and them moving everything to offsite locations which causes these weird inconsistencies maybe?!

Ah yes, that was it, thanks.

Yeah, I've been thinking the same regarding the European contracting layoffs and HQ transition. This year Europe's received nearly all major releases in the same week as North America, or weeks/months before. 2015 so far has offered Codename S.T.E.A.M two months after and Kirby in the second half of 2015 (it's February in North America).

Sixfortyfive

He who pursues two rabbits gets two rabbits.
Just gave it a few more tries and got up to 44. Very infuriating. I just want to complete this game already.
THE RIDE NEVER ENDS.

In short pretty disappointing post-game content.
The Maze is the only part of the game with replay value, and the Toad Brigade and Mummy-Me levels are among the better post-game remix levels in recent Mario games imo.

I love how the game drops you on the intro level right after the splash screen without going through any menus.

I love it. More games should do that.

Can't wait for this game! I honestly only enjoyed 3D World thanks to the Toad stages, everything else felt so same-y which bored me after a while. Hurry up PAL!

Disappointed the make Toad yell button got removed.

In the PAX demo you could press a button to make toad scream. Think they replaced it with a second grab button.

Just passed the first boss. Game is every bit as fun as I expected.
