Is Silent Hills a multiplatform title?

Why has there been so much silence and secrecy on whether the next Silent Hill is multiplatform or not? There has been no mention of any other platform on Silent Hill other than the PS4. Is it coming to PC and Xbox One as well? I am not sure why the media is not grilling Konami further and why Konami is not clearly answering the question. I wonder if there is some backroom deal going on between Sony and Konami. Maybe negotiating a timed exclusive? Anyways I wish Platform holders, Publishers and Journalists etc focused a bit more on transparency to avoid ugly Tomb Raider like reactions that happened earlier this year.

Video games simply aren't that serious, try to keep things in perspective.

Well PT was only on the ps4 but there has been no official statement on exclusivity so anything can happen. My money is on it being exclusive though

Why was P.T. a PS4 exclusive anyways? Does Sony have like a no-cost for putting something on PSN anymore whereas other services still do? I think I heard something about that with indie games. That'd make sense as it was a free thing with no way of them making money off of.

Well it helps people to decide which consoles to buy. I mean it would help if there is more transperancy so that you are not buying a console assuming its coming to the console all along only to be surprised with something to the contrary. When you announce a title I am not sure why the publisher cannot mention clearly the platforms it is currently being developed on.

You don't need to buy the console the moment it's announced.

I think because Fox engine runs like crap on the XBO. Even frickin PES is 720p on the thing.

Anyway chances are pretty high that it is a multiplat game, but then again we have already seen some surprises this gen regarding exclusives. So who knows...

Why would you buy a console for a game announcement? Is this an American thing?

The thing about Rise of the Tomb Raider is that people just assumed it was coming to all platforms (and why wouldn't they, since the first game was on every platform). However, Square Enix showed a trailer at Microsoft's E3 conference. At that point we could safely assume it was coming to Xb1/360 or both. The trailer didn't mention platforms either. People just assumed and that led to the backlash when the timed exclusivity was announced months later.

As for Silent Hills we can safely assume it's coming to PS4 at the least since PT was on PS4. We can't really assume anything else. Of course my money is on it being multiplatform but I wouldn't be too shocked if there was some exclusive content or timed exclusivity. I would definitely be surprised at outright exclusivity though.

Had it been exclusive to PlayStation 4, I think we would have seen it at the PlayStation Experience.

Illness is the doctor to whom we pay most heed; to kindness, to knowledge, we make promise only; pain we obey.
We know for a fact that Konami is bringing it to PS4. We also know they like the Steam revenue so a niche title as this is most certainly getting a PC release, even if Sony is ponying up cash for it. So, assume PS4 and PC. I wouldn't count out an XBO release either.

I would be very surprised if they didn't bring it to both consoles and PC. Unless either platform holder outright buys exclusivity for it, I would imagine it's going to come to all viable platforms.

Yep. If this was an actual exclusive, Sony/Konami would be have been saying it by now.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
Since the game is called "Silent Hills" and the Fox Engine is designed for open world games I think it will be an open world game.

If the Phantom Pain is multiplat you can bet on Silent Hills being so as well, mainly because it wouldn't be too out of the ordinary if Konami suspected Silent Hills will sell less because it's a less popular franchise.

That and the fact that KojiPro will have experience porting over games on the Fox Engine to other platforms already.

Since the game is called "Silent Hills" and the Fox Engine is designed for open world games I think it will be an open world game.

Well, they always kind of were, you could always run around in the actual town itself, only the actual places like hotels, schools or hospitals were linear. They've always kind of been structured like a hellish Zelda with dungeons you go to to further the story.
It'll be interesting to see where they take it, that's for sure :)

They already confirmed it will have open outdoor areas. And it will most probably come to other platforms.

It's not officially announced as a game yet.

Yes, they have announced it using PT as delivery mechanism. That game is 100% happening.

As for platforms, that is still unknown. PS4 is the only sure bet for now.

Developed by fox team or konami?

According to credits screen at the end of PT, it was indeed few dozen people from KojiPro team.

Unknown at this moment, so realistically how far is this game off?
If MGS5 is 2015, then earliest we will get Silent Hills is late 2016. Although it could easily be 2017.

Silent Hills definitely makes sense as a multiplat, but it's strange that PT is only on PS4. Perhaps they simply didn't want to go through the effort of polishing a port for a free playable teaser.

Expect it to be multiplatform but who knows whats going on to be exact. I see where your coming from OP though. If it was multiplatform they could hav easily listed the platforms but instead chose not to....perhaps Sony and Konami are talking to each other.

No one knows

Am just wondering why was PT exclusive if SH isn't ? why forbid xbox/pc fans from the good experience ?

Because it was a free "minigame" so porting it on a console that isn't exactly fox engine-friendly was probably not worth it at all.
