I think GAF's post-release reaction to DA:I has pretty much prevented me from playing it.
GAF is weird, every game is GOAT for the first few weeks and then their real opinion emerges later on when buyer's remorse kicks in

It's a good game with BADLY explain objectives.
There are some stuff that seems like requirement, and are a bore to handle such as collecting minerals and herbs. Core of the game is fun though, but easily buried through all those stuff if you're a perfectionist.
My GOTY, but I agree with most criticisms about it, except that stupid thread on how it has 'mobile and ubisoft' game design.
People will start loving it back after a month or so.
I can tell you that it's the best game of 2014.

You don't have to grind though. Those GAF impressions are exaggerating as hell. It has become a sport right now to nit pick about everything and be negative. Hell, we even got a thread where Dark Souls gameplay was labled shit...

It is. Good thing is you can absolutely ignore it and you dont actually need to grind in the game, but the option is there.
Problem is, that isn't explained well at all. That's something they should have definitely figured out while in development.
I genuinely (a genuine genuinely) feel sorry for the people who can't enjoy Dark Souls. I don't think this dying industry is capable of creating another franchise as good or better than the Souls series.
well sure, maybe, but DS was sorta like the Bing Bang (not the tv show), and chances of it happening again are slim to none. This is as good as it gets, what a time to be alive ;_;

GAF hype puts me off games. Usually by the time I get around to playing them though everything has died down.

It's a Gears of War clone without a cover system and guns.
Shotstopping is excellent. He will literaly throw his head in the course of the ball if it means stopping a goal. (He did this a couple of weeks ago, i'l post a video later if I can find one, at work now)
Very confident in his box, and despite his smaller height always very reliable when it comes to crosses. Ruler in his penalty area. Passing, both short and long and confidence with the ball is excellent. Perfect weapon for counter attacks. Especially his long passes are so bloody good.

I'm not so sure the last generation wasn't the same. Though I do see that much like the film industry there's a trend towards playing it safe with triple AAA titles and blockbusters. There's still a lot of innovation in the indie/PC space though.
