Kirby and the Rainbow Curse - Rolling, Painting, Polarizing REVIEW thread

A lot of the complaints seem to be things that were in Canvas Curse too. Seems like if you played and loved that game, there's a good chance you'll like this too. Can't wait.

I have a question why isn't there an option to draw the path with a Wii Controller instead of utilizing the touch screen?

So I'm reading these like:

- Do you like Canvas Curse? Cool, buy this game.
- Do you dislike Canvas Curse? Pass.
- Have you not played Canvas Curse? Eh...it's $40. So depending on how much you like Kirby.

The third line sums up my feelings. Not sure if I really want it or grab FF Curatain Call this Friday.

Yeah that's what I am getting too. The review of Canvas and the review of Rainbow are by 2 different people. One person who is known for liking oddball stuff that change in franchises.
Jeff Gerstmann wrote the Canvas Curse review and gave it an 8.6

Guess I'll pass on it too. The beginning levels of Canvas were fun but once I got to World 5 or so, which ever one was the lava world, I turned on the game. Never finished it as I would just get angry playing it. I don't want to take that risk again. Even with that said Canvas Curse is still a damn good Kirby game if you stick with it, and I am sure Rainbow is even better.

PS: Also the reason I got frustrated with it was not because of the difficulty but the mechanics itself with that level in particular.

Considering that most people think Canvas Course is one of the best Kirby games ever .... yaaaaay =D

almost every complaint could be equally pointed at Canvas Curse. So this game will be fucking incredible.

Seriously. Canvas Curse is one of the best games in the past decade and the second best on the DS (TWEWY edges it out for me).

I just want Best Buy to ship my pre order now.

Daaaaaaaaaamn, even other reviewers are calling GameSpot out. Anybody who complains about difficulty in Kirby games should not be reviewing games for a living.

Saw this at my local Target not 30 mins ago while on a
hopelessly pointlessly fruitless
amiibo hunt. Thought about nabbing it but I doubt it would have rung up anyway.

Loved Canvas Curse, so I'll be picking this up after work Friday regardless of reviews. I'm pretty sure people complained about not controlling Kirby in 2005 too.

The best Nintendo touchscreen game (with Yoshi Touch & Go) just got bigger, better and I can't wait.

I will wait though, as an European :-/

Is Touch & Go that good? I'm building up my DS collection and a local store has a complete copy for $25.

I think Nintendo is aiming for the tablet kids with this game, in addition to Canvas Curse fans. Drawing with a Wii remote might be too inaccurate for the precision needed.

Not as baffling as their Zombi U review, but I love this reaction. The GS reviewer says he loved Curse mechanics, and contradicts himself in the same review around these same mechanics. This is, yeah, baffling.

Gamespot gave Tropical Freeze a 6/10, maybe they just don't like platformers.

edit: and the review was pretty bad as well.

I just watched the Gamespot review so I wasn't talking out of my ass, and it basically can be summed up as "you need to learn to play the game well or you're going to die. I died"

The original is the only Kirby game I found actually challenging, and is by far my favorite into the series. I got it from Nintendo in a contest where I won a DS and Canvas Curse at the same time.

I'm so stoked for this game.

I see - that's a shame I like to try new control schemes for games and would have probably tried the demo if I could play it with a Wii remote. Is there anything on the Wii that I could get on the Wii U that's similar but can be played with a Wii remote?

I didn't realize the GameSpot reviewer left Polygon. She had some oddly written stuff on Polygon when it came to reviews, as well.

well not surprised to see a nintendo fan site like a nintendo game i guess

GameXplain is enthusiastic, but they level objective criticism just fine.(They also cover more than just Nintendo games, it's really a grab-bag of what they want.) Gamespot on the other hand tends to be a complete outlier in many of their Nintendo review scores.

Until we actually play the game we should jump on any review, it might have some valid criticism.

"But you never look at the TV" flood incoming ;)

I hope I can manage to learn how to draw without looking at the pad. This is one of those games where you wish the Wii U pen was like a wacom pen.

This is gonna be one of those threads were one person is gonna get bashed for not liking the game as much as other people isn't it?
