Was gonna get this, after the reviews i decided to go with Shadow of Mordor. I hope I made the right decision. I'll probably grab this later on the bargain bin.

I'm really not feeling how gleeful some of these so called "professional" game sites are unprofessionally shitting on this game. If they didn't like it then fine, but posting silly pictures and making off comment tweets about it is very juvenile. I find it ironic that these are the same sites that preach how they want the gaming industry to be taken seriously, and then they display this kindergarten type of behavior. Now I'm hoping The Order 1886 will be a financial hit for RAD.

You know, there's a good chance whoever wrote the review for one site isn't the same person responsible for managing that site's social media pages. Posting 'silly' content like that IGN image macro is nothing more than a easy way to get likes, and hardly something preserved just for throwing shit at Sony exclusives as some may believe.

I thought about putting a pre-order in earlier this week for the digital version of the game, but I think I'll hold off given the amount of content on offer for the 60€. I think I'll pick up Life is Strange and Dying Light for now instead.

I can't believe some of the stuff I'm seeing and reading from the reviews if I'm honest. Some of these reviews are so harsh and the trolling surrounding it is just insane to me. Really not needed. I have yet to play the game but still, so unprofessional some of the things I've seen/read. Makes me feel like our hobby of ours has just gone back 20 years.

Because it's too late for me to cancel my pre-order lol

Took back a couple of games so i'm getting it for 10€...it will probably go back to GS on saturday tho

Someone came up with a clever solution with the game lenght... play it retro mode...

Play it on hard... and if you get killed... just start over.

True. But I'd like the option to skip them for example if you die in a sequence where you've seen the cut scene 2/3 times.

Sure, an option would be good for those cases. You seemed to imply though that despite Mr.Swag referring to it as a 6 hour cinematic game, that was invalid because without cutscenes it was far less. This is for an intentionally cinematic and story driven game though.

Heh, funny to see that they translated the title for Russia.

yep. almost every AAA game has its suptitle translated like: Drake's Deception etc
very rarely they translate full titles and usually fans and players laugh and rage about
translations. Russian players are literally the worst. They want their games to be
fully translated at all time and working at videogames store I'm so fcking fed up with
literally every stupid man asking "why they didn't redub GTA v for us russians? fck this game!"

well here goes my rage train :D

Of course there's a space for linear cinematic games, it's just that this one misses the mark.

The absolute last thing I want to see is a sequel which "takes into account all the feedback" and becomes another Ubisoft open-world collectathon.

With the right pacing, more leeway in the gameplay, tighter storytelling and memorable set pieces, a sequel could make this a top-shelf IP in the "linear cinematic" space.

I see selfmade russifications for many games in Steam community hubs.

It's still a negative/unprofessional reflection on the website that prides itself on being a leader in the field. My heart goes out for the developers at RAD, who devoted 5 years of their life on this project. I know it must be an unpleasant experience for them.

I imagine morale has to be at an all-time low at RAD right now.

I really wonder where this leaves the studio if it tanks commercially. They do other stuff, right?

Edit: ooh, looks like a mostly contract stuff for Sony in their portfolio. Hope this turns out okay for them.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm around 3 hours in and I really like it so far. The atmosphere, visuals and sound are outstanding. The cover and shoot mechanic is relatively bare bones but in no way bad. Also the guns are fun. I had a little trouble getting into the game in the first hour, but now I just want to go on.

About the whole "cinematic" experience whatever... I can see, why people may not like this game. It "forces" you to play and experience at the speed the developers have decided on. And that speed may be a little slow sometimes. But it's mindblowing to me that this seems to be the focus and everybody is bashing the game because of it. It's no fast paced shooter, but who said it wanted to be one? I'm sure there are a lot of people who find the pacing perfect the way it is.

There are some things I would change and hope rad will do so for a sequel, but so far my score would be a 7-8. Anything below this is ridiculous to me.

Nothing of that nature was indicated or addressed. More just the stuff you'd expect like personal disappointment and morale, etc.

It's such a shame. Most of the times when you hear anyone from RAD talking about this project they're fucking amped about it. I don't know if I've seen a studio have this much genuine enthusiasm for a new IP before.

I'm still looking forward to playing it. Haven't played a TPS in a long time.

That's life in general. Today through the weekend is going to be the 'hip" thing to hate and make fun of The Order. As soon as something else starts trending, not all but most people will forget about this.

Well, not every criticism is cynical and neither is intended to make fun of The Order. Actually I believe most have not these intentions.

The criticism is valid, and this denial is really... Ugly. I dont know a better term.

It is completely okay to disagree with most of what is being criticised, but a very personal opinion wont change the fact that most of these critics are actually pretty reasonable. Also RAD is not a baby that doesnt know what is doing, they have done the game they wanted to, people in general disaproved it giving its price, but theyre still able to sell it a lot through all the marketing and game presentation. Its up to them keep with these design decisions or change some of it on their next game.

I really hope they change a bit of it. At least with some unlockables and difficulty based trophies to incentive a replay, aswell as a less "movie-like" decision and something more in line with Uncharted when it comes to cinematic experience.

Thats my opinion of course.

Not sure about the studio as a whole but I imagine it's hard to put that much time and energy into something for a big part of your life, only to have it boil down to a gif of someone failing a pole vault.

Man I can't imagine the amount of disappointment those guys must feel. For what it's worth I'm still excited to experience this game

Your last one was probably TEW, right?

This is their stuff.

I wonder how much sales numbers will factor into whether or not they get to do a sequel - or continue to work with Sony.

Sony funded the game I believe, so I think they would take the loss. RAD themselves should be fine.

I hope so. Despite this product and people's opinion of it, they seem to have made some good stuff and I'd hate for this to be the thing that puts them down.

Why are some of you going to buy the game? This is a genuine question. Are you planning on playing it again after you finish it? Why not save money, rent and get the whole experience for less money?

I'm just curious.

Back in the days, I remember spending a large amount of cash on Dragon's Lair in the arcades just because it felt like I was playing a cartoon, and I would have paid anything to have the same experience at home: so now that it seems that I'll finally be able to play a movie directly from my comfy couch - and with a far less shitty gameplay than that at the time, too - why wouldn't I buy it?
We don't have any gaming rental service here where I live, anyways. =|

Can't wait to play this honestly, the only thing putting me off though isn't anything to do with the actual game, but Sony UKs pricing on this is ridiculous, £50 what a joke!

Yep. More games like this and less games like TLOU please. TLOU was simply not cinematic enough to be this gen, it could have done better with more linearity, unskippable cinematic, QTEs and a giant black border that reduce our field of view by 50%.

For those that have beaten the game, how is the replay value? I'm looking into picking this up. And having a reason to give it another play through would help me decide.

lol

Honestly 4 out of 5 Russians don't speak any foreign language. Even at my work
at vidya store out of six stuff members only I can speak English (and I can read a bit of Latin). Non-translated games rarely sell well in Russia too as you can imagine. Fans do
lots of translations for Steam games. But almost every big AAA title gets at least subtitles.
And even then 4 out of 5 are not okay with that. We started playing Order 1886 at work in the evening today and OH MY GOD the Russian dub is just so wrong. Lafayette sounds like a drunkard. Izzi sounds like an angry farmer's wife and so on. Well, Ask and ye shall recieve I guess :D
