Pre order the Wii U version if you want the Wii version too. Sooner than expected, hope at least one of the two versions is good. I've been waiting a long time for it
Can't wait to hear impressions of the Wii version from y'all. I'd laugh if this was releasing on the 27th so I can gift it to my mother for her birthday.
Forgive the brain fart, as I feel like this has probably been answered already, but will the digital version of the Wii U game also come with a code for a Wii download version as well somehow? If not, I think I will probably want to pick up a physical copy. It seems like the Wii version is the most appealing one.
(Also, am I right in thinking the Wii U version is built on an upscaled engine of the 3DS game and that it's an expanded (but different) version of the 3DS game? I dunno, I could be way off there. Just having difficulty keeping all three versions straight!)
No, just physical.
edit: here's 11 minutes of retail copy Wii footage! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYVPeJtq88g
sorry for slacking off on the import OT, btw.
the Nintendo Direct threw a big wrench in my ability to focus on that
seems like there isn't much demand right now anyway?

Give LE NISA.
There's a link to Wii gameplay in this thread and you can look up Wii U gameplay. What's the difference between wii and U versions?
Already have a preorder from Gamestop, will also grab from Best Buy probably this week. Hope I'm not too late to also get the Wii version, I don't know how many they're making
It was confirmed this week, pre-orders opening soon.
It's on my radar, will wait to see how well it survived development hell before I buy.
if you're only interested in the wii version (and you probably should be) it was never actually in development hell. prope finished the game on schedule almost 4 years ago but kadokawa held off on it until the 3ds port was finished. then they decided to port the 3ds version to wii u and here we are.
i've played the 3ds version extensively by now (got to the end of the game). i've also had a little bit of time with the wii game and the wii u game (just the first two levels). what sort of surprised me was that the level design was somewhat the same but the structure between the two versions is actually pretty different. it would be more accurate to say the 3ds version is a sort of remake of the wii version in a way the 2010 goldeneye game was a remake of the 1997 goldeneye game.
Does the final release of the 3DS version run any better than the demo? Cuz the demo ran so poorly it had me puking. It was capped at 20 fps and often dropped well below that.
I'm interested in this game, but the gameplay looks really confusing. I don't get how the Wii version could be better than the WiiU version. Is there no wii remote support for the wiiU version?
I guess it just came out last week, will await some import impressions.
the wii u version supports the gamepad, classic controller pro (and i think standard classic controller if that's the case?), and the pro controller. the structure of the game is such that you are encouraged to explore the levels and find different places in the level for power ups and collectible coins.
the wii version is only controlled by the wii remote. by that i mean no nunchuck controls. you point at the screen and hold b and that's where rodea will start walking. you make him fly by pressing a. because of the way it controls, the levels are a lot more narrow, and the point of the game is more along the lines of getting through a level right. coins in this version are locked in secret 2d rooms that can only be unlocked if you have enough gravitons (those yellow bits), and aren't hidden around on the actual level.
Sounds....interesting. Really shocked this is getting localized to be honest.
Really surprised they went through the trouble of changing the gameplay in the WiiU version and not just making it an HD'd port. It's a little disappointing because the game looks like it was designed around the use of IR.
Thanks for the impression AniHawk. Looking at the Wii gameplay video linked and having played the 3DS demo, there's really a lot of gameplay difference than I originally thought.
That's exactly what i was going to ask yesterday after seen the video, if it could be played with one hand (Wii Remote only). So thanks for clearing that up.the wii version is only controlled by the wii remote. by that i mean no nunchuck controls. you point at the screen and hold b and that's where rodea will start walking. you make him fly by pressing a. because of the way it controls, the levels are a lot more narrow, and the point of the game is more along the lines of getting through a level right. coins in this version are locked in secret 2d rooms that can only be unlocked if you have enough gravitons (those yellow bits), and aren't hidden around on the actual level.
After hearing this i want the game, this is the type of diiferent mechanics that the Wii Remote allows over a traditional controller that i always liked to see developers explore.
Just wandering how much the game will cost?
English dub? or Japanese?
Thanks for the information.Standard retail price: $60 for the Wii U version, $40 for the 3DS version. All first-print copies of the Wii U version come bundled with the original Wii game on a separate disc. (The JP version comes in a cardboard sleeve with individual cases for each disc, no idea how NISA's handling it in each region.)
