Star Wars Battlefront Trailer, game will be 60 fps

It didn't look nearly as good as those screens but the POV and over the shoulder view is pretty close to what they showed (minus the 21:9 aspect ratio). It also didn't look as "filmic" as the trailer does. The trailer almost makes it look like The Order, which it most definitely does not.

I've also been wondering why they chose to show the Endor level since that level has so much foliage that it only highlights the graphical deficiencies like low resolution and lack of AA. Seems like demoing Hoth would have been easier to hide that type of stuff. DICE's target of 60fps on consoles is going to come with some compromises.

Thank you for this. Just give me a smooth game that looks good. It doesn't need to melt my eyes.

Most importantly from what you saw. The game looked fun right?

Thanks dude, I can sleep easy and feel my sanity regaining a bit.

Yes, the game looked fun. I don't typically play multiplayer games but this made we want to buy it just so I could run around in those environments.

So one thing bothering me about this game.

The only special edition of this game is $10 more and the only thing that makes it different is three weapons and 2 emotes?
Who gives a shit? Ten dollars for what should be two dollar DLC?

Where's a special edition with a little statue of an AT-AT replicating the cover art, with an art-of book and Golden X-Wing DLC?

NOT EVEN. The three weapons are in the regular edition and you are just paying to unlock them early.

So it's $10 for 2 emotes.

Pretty pathetic next to the slew of items and soundtrack that Inquisition gave.

Those special editions are nearly non-existent anymore since the start of last generation, with a few exceptions of course.

That's even worse than I thought. So now EA is experimenting with the "Just..please give us more money for the hell of it" business model.

Yeah

I will never give EA money for the $10 more edition. They're worthless.

Lol good name for it.

I'd be in the dick

I may be in the minority but I really enjoyed Spectator Mode from Battlefield 4. I really hope this feature makes a comeback, though I really doubt it because they might have to make sacrifices for better graphics & frame-rate.

Also, Levolution was another great feature. Even though DICE says there will minimal destruction, I really hope we can somehow interact with the environment. Siege of Shanghai from BF4 has the best Levolution in my opinion.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this might be included in the Battle of Jakku DLC at least.

As discussed earlier, this mid-crash looking background makes it seem very possible that a Levolution type desert sandstorm could be kicked up, but who knows.

my hard graphic balls
That looks like there's quite a lot of detail in the scenes for split screen. If that is hows the graphics look in splitscreen, then it should look quite a bit better in non-splitscreen, right?

Imo People are delusional if they think they gonna get the same graphics quality on a console OR PC in this year....with 60fps.

No way.

Just no way

Anyone else catch this? Missions may be a bit more like standard MP than we think unless he's actually referring to bots in MP.

Great :) That means even in many years if the population dies, we can still play. I appreciate this feature in old Battlefront for that reason.

Huh. Forgive the shitty capture...

Maybe our first look at an actual gameplay shot?
That looks amazing! all I am hoping for is that the game looks just as good if not a little better then BF4 on the PS4. I am even more hyped for this game now. I also hope it plays smooth like BFH does.

Population essentially never dies on PC.

Whenever the game goes on sale it seems to jump to ~5,000 concurrent. Keep in mind this isn't even a Steam game, there are probably hundreds of thousands of copies not tied to Steam, if not more.

What's the latest on character classes? I though I read somewhere that they were going to avoid classes and just let people do their own customisation, but I can't find the dev quote now.

Just been having an extended gawp at the images in the Eurogamer article, and TBH even on that there're some hard angled curves, a fair bit of jaggies & other little bits.

Now I know this is pre-alpha and the rest of it, but I think with a drop in IQ there isn't anything here that's impossible on a console, even at 60fps.

I sincerely hope that the graphics and animation on display here are indeed indicative of the final product [as many games over the years have claimed from "Early In-Game Footage" trailers] - and I dare to hope that they may get even better by release.

I am also beyond tired of bullshots and inane "gameplay" footage that is in reality, blatantly unplayable, impossible-to-manipulate-in-real-time CG that developers throw at us these days and expect us to choke down with the rest of the mass-marketed swill that we are force-fed on a weekly basis; simply to make us believe that 'said' game is going to be a truly amazing [but-isn't] product. Bungie's "Destiny" is enough of a prime example, as well as a wake-up call to the entire industry that makes this point clear to everyone.

If the "early version" of a game shown to players blows away the finished product, then the developers of that game are total shit and should be shunned from the industry for fraudulent claims/bait and switch tactics - at the very least, never trusted at face-value again. How can you go involuntarily backwards during the development process after showing something groundbreaking and technologically revolutionary?!? Do game developers not remember the footage that they created that got players excited for their product in the first place?!?

As far as "Star Wars: Battlefront" goes, this game has even less to fall back on in the 'degradeaton' department than most any other title, since it is being helmed by DICE and being backed by Disney.

There will be no excuse and no quarter given, if this game doesn't drop even more jaws and illicit new combinations of positive adjectives even more so than it did with this new trailer, when it drops this November on the PS4, XBONE and PC.

DICE/EA/Disney, "May the Force be with you". For the rest of us, "May the Force be with us all".

When was the last time you saw leaves casting a shadow on each other without faking it with textures:

This is beyond dynamic global illumination. It's full-on ray tracing. [I strongly believe, I'm not a video game professional in any way though, wish someone more knowledgeable would comment on the lighting].

Representative of PS7.
If everything self-shadowed, shadows would look pretty similar...and be similarly taxing right?

I'm looking but I see individual leaves in the same bunches as a pretty flat:

Just wanted to show how pretty uninformed those posts are.
This is the lowest shadow settings, which pretty much means that past-gen consoles run this in similar fashion:
