The Witcher 3 runs at 1080p ULTRA ~60 fps on a 980

How does this work, GAF?

Just look at some benches.

For instance a 980 gets around 90FPS in BF4, Ultra at 1080p, and about 60 at 1440p.

Or 130fps @ 1080P in Infinite, and 85fps in 1440P and 43fps in 4K on Ultra.

Or a GTX 670 gets exactly 60fps in Crysis 3 at 1080p, and gets 42.1 in 1440p.

And not "everything maxed". I am sure if you crank up to 8xMSAA, Ubersampling, etc in drivers then it will suffer.

A single 980 runs the game at 1080p, all in game sliders set to Ultra, at 60FPS, with Hairworks toggled on.

In order to play at higher resolutions like 1440p and 4K, you will need more horse power, less frames, or lower settings.

Cool, thanks.

i7 2600K 3.4GHz (EDIT: Actually this is OC'd to 4.0 GHz)
Radeon 7970 3GB
32 GB RAM

Basically will I be able to play the PC version at high enough settings where it will look better than PS4 and still maintain 30FPS?

I recently "upgraded" from 2 GTX 680s to a single 970 (SLI issues were driving me crazy).

Is it worth saving one of my 680s to use as a dedicated PhysX / Hairworks card? Or should I go ahead and sell it while it's still worth something?

Gave in and just bought a 980 so should have it for the weekend.

Time to sell my 780 somehow lol.

TW3 I AM READY!!

Maaaan. Was planning on getting rid of my 780 for this game but I rather just wait till pascal. congrats to you, though.

EDIT: oopps, I meant 780.

I have a 2.67 boosted to 3.7 or so and a 970. I am not sure wether I dare to go pc and risk lousy performance, or if I should jump into the PS4 version.

No bald cap? Lies!
I originally wanted to build a new rig for this but decided to hold off for the next big Intel and AMD product lines late this year and early next.

My current rig is still holding up well enough with stuff like GTAV, DAI and FC4. If I can get 30fps with mostly high and stuff I don't care for like motion blur low/off I will be more than happy.

i7 920 2.67ghz oc'd to 3.6
AMD 7950 3gb
16gb ram

Really interested to see how a 2500k (@ 4.3ghz) and an r9 290(non-x) will fair. Anyone want to make a prediction? I'm hoping for all high settings and maybe a few on max with a frame rate that never goes lower than 30. I also wonder if I'll be able to force triple buffering instead of using v-sync.

With that rig, I don't think you'll have any problem at all keeping a locked 30FPS @1080P with all high settings and a few on ultra.

We'll all know soon enough! I'll be interested to see how much this game pushes CPUs since it is an open world game.

Usually see this kind of stuff on console ports to PC.

Looks like TW2's settings. Interesting the AA option is a on/off toggle. And yeah! A toggle for sharpening.

Will Nvidia do a guide again?

Are they using a single 980GTX? How well did it run?

Word from them on stream was a single 980 w/ i7, every option on ultra, Nvidia Hairworks off (i think) sharpening off running at 60 FPS.

Damn. That is so nice.

I am glad this is optimized. I hope Arkham Knight and MGS V Phantom Pain will run 60fps 1080p on a single 980GTX as well ultra settings.

Hopefully Witcher 3 scales well on SLI users too.

Wait you can dedicate a card to hairworks?

I built a specific gaming rig with this game in mind, I had a budget so I couldn't go all out but do you guys think it'll run at 40+ FPS ultra (or very close to it) on my 1440p monitor using this system???

MSI GTX 970 (overclocked)
16Gb 2133hz RAM
i5 4690k

250GB SSD, good psu, good cooling setup etc etc.

There is like zero reason to think TPP won't run well/maxed even on a 970. It's a cross gen game.

Ahem, same question :
i5 2500
GTX 750 Ti
8 GB RAM

Do we have word on how well this is running on AMD?, everything footage wise so far seems to be Nvidia based and after the travesty of Project Cars performance at release I'm a little worried about how this will perform for AMD day 1.

I understand things like hairworks may not perform as well on AMD (for obvious reasons), but do we now if the game running well on AMD cards in general?.

What about Arkham Knight?

Also, I may do a Witcher 1 to 3 marathon soon. I tried playing W1 and it combat seems a bit confusing. I need to study more about it.

I really hated DOF/Cutscene DOF set to "On" in the Witcher 2- I felt like the characters were sharp, and then everything was blurred to all hell behind/around them. I think I gotta turn that off again!

4.6 GHz with a oced 2gb 6970 here :(

The IGN stream wasn't running it maxed out. AA, CA, HairWorks and Lightshafts were off. Ambient Occlusion was set to SSAO instead of HBAO.

It's not a confirmation there will be a day 1 driver, but AMD claims they've been talking to CDPR for quite a while and this is a tweet from one of their higher-ups yesterday: https://twitter.com/amd_roy/status/598307459489345536

Underwhelming if the only AA option is off/on.

Try it next week and determine if it's worth saving one. You can probably get a solid 60 fps with the extra card dedicated to physics tasks. I'm sure that would take a pretty big load off of the 970.

Be interested to see how my trusty ol 670 will handle this, I'm guessing probably medium/mixture of high medium if I'm very lucky for 30fps. Doubt I'd get 60fps without turning everything down to low.
