Yeah, ok! That gif convinced me! The lighting is waaaay better then the previous games!

Yep, lets have every game be as graphically intensive as The Order, Killzone Shadow-fall and the like. Those games were great, right?

It's not like games with graphics at about fallout 4's level could possibly be fun. I mean, look at Bloodbourne. Trash.

My insinuation was not that an open world game can achieve the same graphics as those more linear experiences. It was that a higher level of graphical fidelity is expected across the board when it's been proven possible on this Gen of hardware.

I wouldn't expect this fallout to look like the order or TLOU remastered, but I certainly expect it to look better than a 360/ps3 game, which it does not.

Is your problem with the fact that I have standards and expect improvements between games made by the same dev?

Looks like a Fallout Game.
Looks like a Gamebryo Game.

No surprises here. What i don´t like about Gamebryo is how items and small objects look in the game. Somehow thrown together with no weight or connection to the world.
No shadows, ssao or whatever.

no Obsidian saddens me. i'll wait for a competent developer to get their hands on it.

Yeah. I don't really gel with Fallout in general nor with the Bethesda style RPG as I personally find them a bit bland. I really liked what Obsidian did with NV.

But hey, maybe Bethesda has improved, learned and iterated?

I really want to see some gunplay. Also, the animations for the zombie creatures looked great, hoping they gave other enemies, and mc the same treatment.

If it has crossgen graphics, why are people celebrating that it's not on the older systems? Graphics are not a deal breaker but it is a bit disappointing that they jump out at you.

Yikes graphically it's not good at all. Right from seeing the dog at the very start and then the character models and environments. I mean I guess it's early days and there should be plenty of time to get it looking good but this wasn't a good reveal. But beyond that, I didn't see anything to get excited about with the game over the last one.

They ARE below the bar set by other games but its more than serviceable and quite a leap over Skyrim at least

We've been at a point where you don't need to make good games to get sales for a while now. Though this recent phenomenon of praising a game's faults is something so weird. The graphics aren't very good, we all expected better.

There hasn't been any features or game play shown, there's been a few environments on display that look very interesting. We have no idea how large the actual world is yet, of course people should be excited if they're a big fan of the series but we literally know nothing about this game yet.

The graphics aren't very good for a game of this generation. Comparing it to Fallout 3 or GTA SA is dumb and hyperbole but that doesn't mean the fidelity is anything we expected, it's worse. Most don't care and they're excited for the game and it's fine, I don't care too much about the graphics either but to defend the graphics saying they look good is just as bad. All games have faults, some larger than others.

It doesn't really have crossgen graphics. You could not achieve that on a PS3 or 360.

Looks good. Doesn't meet my hopes of "next-gen visuals" when I dreamed about how I hoped graphics would look before this gen started. (but this has been a slight let down all gen long)

The dog needs some more polys or some better fur...but when the trailer got to this part:

is when I thought it looked pretty good. 1080p and a rock solid 30fps on PS4, please.

You really need to go back and play some last-gen games

Problem with Bethesda games is that they are designed around the tools they have, instead of coding an engine and a game around features they want.

That's why all their games end up being so formulaic and pretty much the same between each other. It's like going from Skyrim to Fallout they only develop a mod for their own game.

And since it relies so much on middleware, they got no clue about how to actually transform it in meaningful ways. So they can just spend more money to hire more artists and add more detail, but the core game barely improves.

If the Witcher 3 didn't exist I'd replay Fallout 3 fully modded on PC before this game hits, but I'm expecting to still be playing it by the time this hits (if it's this year).

So hyped for this. I have nor played Fallout 3 because I wasn't old enough at that time and then I have never gotten around to it. I am excited for this one know. And thank for not being cross-gen.

Current Gen only? Thank GOD SO HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPED!!!!!!

Also who cares about the visuals? They look plenty good enough, and Bethesda games have never been about graphics anyways. Well Skyrim is with mods, but we'll be getting those with this anyways.

Fallout 4 is coming baby!!!!

Because they don't have to focus on five systems. I think it's great, as it allows devs to make the best use of the newer systems.

KZ:SF was great. The Order was awful.
TW3, the current open RPG is better than this reveal trailer.
Why don't you mention that?
BB has a better graphic engine than FO4 trailer...Are we looking at the same plastic looking dog?

Can someone point a picture of the State House that people are seeing?
I see Fenway, the Paul Revere statue and everything else but the State house

This "problem" you speak of results in tens of millions of sales, glowing 9s and 10s in the critical press and many, many delighted gamers like myself.

They aren't BAD the are just below the Bar thats been set for this gen, even by open world Standards

How far below the bar is it? Not as far as some of you claim thats for damn sure

People complaining about the graphics are forgetting how cruddy Fallout 3 looked. Now that was a nasty ass game to the eyes.

Yeah Fallout 3 was no looker but I still put 100 hours into it and the DLC. I think this new game will be the same for me. The gameplay montage in the trailer looked great, looking forward to seeing more at E3.

Shitty FPS combat system incoming.
This time without Obsidian writing and quest design!

Fallout is VATS. If that's not your thing, cool, but that's what the game is. It'll be nice if they've improved some of the shooting mechanics but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Never played a Fallout before. Should I be hype?

TES with guns is a good starting point. If you like that idea and the setting they're going for, you'd probably like it. If you can play FO3 and F:NV I would totally do that as well. Both are fun.

I'm so ready for a new Fallout adventure, and the trailer looked great. Some nice in game gems in the quick cuts. Hoping to see some gameplay at E3, fingers crossed.

Just to clarify guys, all of my opinions are based on this trailer this morning and nothing else, because there is nothing else to talk about in regards to fallout 4. Trailers are made to generate hype and portray whatever goal they had in mind.

This reveal trailer was meant to show us what fallout looks like in the new generation. It's showing us what we remember from fallout 3 and what that looks like now. Nothing new. For that it did is job. For me I wanted something brand new. I over hyped myself and thought I'd see something spectacular today.

I didnt like it in F3 but I did in Dying Light so hope its more like the latter.

That's because Dying Light has options. Kicks, throws, parkour, etc. all added to the experience. Plus the sound design helped add some weight to the swings :)
