Also worth watching when they go up will be the Super Best Friends watch. Might be a while for that though as the MS one only went up an hour or so ago.

Holy shit, I never thought I'd see the day. It's not my favorite FF game, but it's still a damn fine title and I'm excited to see what they can do. And it's always a delight to see the reactions from a much anticipated title like this. I mean, fuck, it's been like what, 10 years since that tech demo started the rumors? That's insane. This is a really risky endeavor, but I just hope it lives up to the original.

Part of me hopes they keep the turn-based system, but another part of me expects them to go real-time. This looks like an expensive project and I really don't know if Square is willing to take the risk in this day and age. Let's wait and see.

Oh wait, Nomura is directing!? Holy shit, 9 years in limbo incoming! CHOO CHOO!

The way things came across to a lot of people(including myself) is that Nomura wasn't really able to compromise to make his vision fit the practical constraints of the project.

If that's accurate, wouldn't it have made more sense to have Tabata handle the FF7 remake? If Nomura is really in control of this then that means that they think he can handle high budget stuff. I know you can't tell us explicitly why he was removed from FFXV, but was it because he mishandled it or more something out of his control?

With the continued rumours flying around, I was hopeful it would be the real deal this time around. I'm can't wait to revisit this, whether it's a total re-imagining or a straight remake! Best E3 I've watched by far.

All in all we're not in a bad position here... Square is kept afloat by multiple things that are not classic Square focus, but at the same time games like FF are their legacy and they have a mandate to make them.

FF7, Xenogears, and Suikoden 2 are my favourite games of all time, and only 1 needed a remake.
