Maybe they don't like FF7? OK, then shit on Shenmue 3 announcement after it? How can they hate both?

They all appear to be dead inside cynical hosts and I don't want to listen to their video game opinions anymore.

Dan seemed uncharacteristically quiet for these E3 things. I hope he's okay. I miss his scratchy voice. But yeah I think I'm just gonna watch Nintendo's Direct without the commentary. It can get pretty depressing listening to them sometimes.

I was tricked by the Miyazaki Dark Souls 2 post but this is real right? This isn't satire, right?

They aren't super excited about 2 game series and suddenly they're cynical boring and soulless? Hilarious.

Jeff was all up in Need for Speed and it was clearly something he was excited for. Just because it isn't from your pool of games doesn't mean they're disinterested in all of gaming.

I can very easily see how people would not be excited about FF7 or shemnue. By sheer virtue of me not being excited about FF7 or shemnue.

Still kinda excited in a zeitgiest sort of way but I really don't give a fuck about those games.

Jeff is my least favorite GB guy by far mostly. I just don't get him nor am I entertained by him in the slightest. His love for NFS is ridiculous. This is guy who shat on DC on podcasts and in his review and then suddenly jumps for joy for what amounts to another hyper car cruiser.

For the record I love both games. NFS HP and DC are two of my favorite racing games. And it isn't just that. He is cynical about everything to the point I wonder why he is in the industry anymore.

Also why is it okay to defend GB in here but not to criticize them? This thread is being a little perverse. I don't mind a couple of the guys at all.

Even if not interested in those specific games (none of them were?), if you're passionate about the entire industry, this should be something to be excited about. Even just from a "Wow they actually announced that. So many of you have waited so long for them." perspective.

He has said *multiple* times why he prefers one over the other and what had got him super excited about this new Need for Speed. I don't understand what would be cynical at all about that.

So you want them to feign interest and excitement? They mentioned multiple times before and after that it'd be cool to see them pop up (adding that they'd prefer actual release dates). Them not losing their shit somehow makes them less respectable?

Dude, it's an HD remake and a kickstarter announcement. They can recognize "Hey, I'm sure other people will really enjoy this" and still not be personally excited for it themselves. Such absurd things to hang your hat on when trying to say "They're dead inside cynical."

I probably should have known what the discussion was going to be coming into this thread for the first time tonight.

I get that you want people to be excited for the things you're excited about. At the same time, if you've been following Giantbomb for any decent amount of time, you should know you wont get that from these guys. Its not exactly anything new or surprising. Thats coming from someone thats been a GB subscriber for years and is a huge fan of the site.

If you want more general, optimistic reactions and opinions, im sure the gametrailers and gamespot pre/post show have you covered. Should be as simple as that. Having options is a great thing!

this is important as well, i think the gb crew are smart enough to realize that even if these are big games, they're most likely three or four years away. like they said, 2015 sony is looking bare

Of course it is, this is the definition of salty. People normally want these guys to be bluntly honest about their opinions especially when it's truth bombs about shit they don't like. Now however as the edge is turned against shit they like people freak out :p

Worth mentioning is that I thought the reveals were dope as hell but I'm totally fine with people not sharing the entusiasm. But I do think it's time that some people find themselves a new home for their game coverage. It's obvious that Giantbomb is not what some of the people in this community are looking for.

It sucks that they didnt enjoy the announcements but this is how Giantbombs rolls. Still gonna listen to them cause I enjoy their coverage. I respect opinions.

I've never heard anyone mention Shenmue in real life, and you can appreciate ff7 without being excited for a remake. How about they make Final Fantasy 18 or whatever something to be excited about instead

There was not a single video game that needed a graphical remake ever than FFVII.

FFVII was released at an unfortunate time and had an interrupted development cycle between two different machines that resulted in a very disjointed visual style. It is very hard to go back to and play. No issues with FFVI and FFVIII.

Shenmue was the swan song of Sega. It revolutionized video game stories. And it showed what video game budgets were going to become.

I don't appreciate some of those games you listed. Who cares if people do or don't. People need to stop expecting validation of their opinions and things they are deeply invested in from online gaming personalities.
