SHENMUE 3 kickstarter (PC/PS4) - FINAL DAY - NEW KS RECORD GO GO GO!

Ok, I changed my mind. I was originally going to back with the $29 tier but after seeing this response I'm going to wait till my next pay before going to the $175 tier. That is the first and most expensive backing I will ever put in kickstarter. I was laughing with joy and disbelief when I saw that small petal fall down on the screen. It was that alone that was enough trigger all my senses to see what this game really was.

1.8 Mil backed.

200k to go.

1.814 mil now - methinks we'd have hit 2mil already if they had perks between $1-$10K - they probably didn't expect this level of demand for it! It's clear they thought it'd reach $4 million by the end of the run when more likely it'll be there by the end of the week!

The trailer music is amazing, enough to make me want to play the originals and see what the hype is about. Here's to hoping they do an HD remaster of the originals.

Best of luck to Suzuki, reading over the kickstarter this sounds like something he's been wanting to do for a long time. Hope this gets funded through the roof and beyond.

will have raised 2mils in less than 12 hours.

Again, i wish i had the posts of those people who said "Shenmue isn't relevant anymore, i hope it's put on kickstarter so that you realize that when funding fails miserably" handy,

What I don't think some realize is why this is surging the way it is. Much like that Yooka-laylee kickstarter, this is more about getting the band back together. This is a bunch of one of Sega's most legendary first party studios getting back together to make another game after all these years. That's insane.

Makes you wonder what sega themselves are thinking

It's basically Christmas coming in the summer. Is this how Australians feel like?

I want a physical PS4 copy as well as the first 2 games as I've never played them. I'll still back it for digital though but would have been nice.

Guess a lot of people need to hope they meet the 2.5M mark so they do the 1 and 2 recap videos. I don't see anyone lining up to do ports of the old games and I didn't see it as a stretch goal. My memory is hazy on a lot of details from the game so a refresh would be good.

This project looks risky. 47M to make the last one back in 1999 or so. How can this get done for 2M? No where in the kickstarter do they talk about outside funding. Other projects that have done this all talk about how this is just one part of the funding...this one does not. So is it a 2M or 50M game? The kickstarter proposal doesn't really say.

This is a team that has not work together in a long time, some it appears have not been working a lot, or working in other fields (still they all look talented). But its not like inxile or Tell Tale where they have been operating as a company for some time.

To me, the first part of this kickstarter should have been to re-release the ports by 2017-18 and the full game probably late 2018-19. What you get as a backer is the three games over time. For what these guys have done in the past and assuming its what they want to do now, its going to take a lot of resources and schedule to get it done today. Spreading it out and getting some cash from the ports would help give them some money and schedule. Or possibly this is a smallish in scope game, not like the previous versions. I don't know.

Their risk statement does not give me any confidence they understand what is in front of them. I believe everyone is well intention it just seems everyone is doing this on 'heart' and not 'logic'. That can result in pain.

I want this to happen but I really hope some outside sources of funding are talked about soon, along with some details on what the game being developed scope is and all of this added to the campaign page.

I BELIEVED

I ALWAYS FUCKING BELIEVED

This is going to be the first Kickstarter I back. Going for the $60 version. But do we still get a PC code before hand? I don't want to wait until I get the physical copy to play the game.

Could you imagine what a similar kickstarter bringing back the classic Sonic team would do?
It can't quite match the hype factor I think. I mean I would be all over Yuji Naka making not-sonic, but it's not the same as 'This is what you waited 14 years for have at it' since actual Sonic games are still getting made.

Would still be nuts.

Just imagine for a minute if the photo of that forklift truck hadn't materialised, or if Suzuki's E3 visit we're kept quiet....I think the reaction to this would of been simply ......well, e'll never know sadly lol.

Everything is moe to me
Makes you wonder what sega themselves are thinking

"when can we swoop in and 'rescue' this game now that the risk has been absorbed'

give it a few months and sega will announce they're picking up distribution rights for a ps4 disc version and that they threw the studio some pocket change.

Okay, this has probably been answered already, but Sega still owns the ShenMue trademark right? I take it they're involved in some way?

I suspect it will hit around 7-9 million for the 30 days. But after the kickstarter ends I expect them to ask for additional funding like Star Citizen did and easily get over 20 million by this time next year.

It has already been noted there are larger investors ready to commit, but if the kickstarter exceeds it's goal, then that's good as well.

I didn't follow the Star Citizen funding stuff. They switched off of Kickstarter to their own site and basically created more stretch goals?

Of course they won't make the game on only 2M dollars...
The Kickstarter says they need 2M dollars funded in order to do this, not that the game will have a budget of 2M dollars. They definitely have outside funding, don't be crazy.
