I just thought of something. Seeing FFVII on Xbox One with Xbox button prints is going to be fucking weird. I had that feeling for a moment with MGS, Tekken, and Tomb Raider, but this one especially is going to feel out of place.

Honestly guys a fleshed out Junon in HD is kind of making me melt. HD WEAPONs...

They NEED to get the melancholy music right for stuff like Nibelheim/Kalm flashback etc. I assume there'll be lots of remixes of the original Uematsu stuff?? plssssss

They need him to compose the score for the game.
I mean, he simply has to.

Let's think about it: original game only have 3 big cities (Midgar, Junon and Gold Saucer) on world map, the rest are small towns and dungeons. I think if they want to build the whole game complete interconnected, the hard part is that they have to rebuild 3 big cities completely, world map can be empty fields with monster/ dungeons. And hardest part is Highwing, I don't know if they find a way to solve that.

I say they collaborate with Tabata on XV and get their airship/overworld game in check.

Hell, the company publishes Just Cause, so they can't claim ignorance that controllable airships in detailed environments are impossible.

anything new to make you think this will come to bone? I thought most of us think it wont?

But, that playground was under the plate. This playground is clearly above the plate.
That's under the plate, I'd say. There were still buildings and trains and such under there, and the sky would be visible from under the edge of the plate based on how high it is in that last shot.

If what Kagari says is true (and there's no reason to believe that it isn't), you'll have nothing to worry about. :p

I'm trying to put 2 and 2 together. "South Edge" might be as well referring to the south limits of Edge.

Besides, the order of the scenes in the trailer would seem pretty random if they were not going backwards in time.

And yeah, the kids are definitely watching Meteorfall, from the red sky to the green stream reflecting on the girl's eyes.

Besides the backwards progression of the scenes would fit perfectly with the tone of the trailer: going back. Going back to the original game, to the original set of events.

Otherwise inserting the scene of Meteorfall at that particular point in the trailer would seem out of place.

I think the order of scenes simply go from the upper plate of Midgar to the lower slums.

Also, during the whole Meteorfall and Lifestream release, Midgar was afllicted by a violent storm with heavy debris flying. There definitely would not be children playing around.

It's gonna be PS4/PC eventually but PS4 only at launch

Ok let's break it down.

Subways will probably be important:

If this were an actual Hollywood movie, the guy behind the glass here on the left is the one to watch:

Daytime Midgar is splendid and busy and beeeeautiful:

Note street sign: Center Gate 6 | Kalm 51 | Junon 133

You can see those mileages again here, along with a big ad for Valentina (maybe a nod to Valentine?):

Note the same old-timey cars from the original

Here's a playground in a polluted Midgar hell:

Again note the subway/train.

Here are kids playing swords and look at that! Buster Swords must be a common design.

Raining in Midgar slums:

Here's clearly CLEARLY the biggest design change so far -- (I'm assuming Shinra soldiers):

A dumb thing to note, but beards were way out of style back in 1997.

Maaaaaan, I've watched this a dozen times and can't decide if that's a reflection of a statue or of Aeris standing there:

It's probably a statue. But those are definitely her flowers.

This is the Midgar reactor making the rounds today in those comparison shots:

but here's a big version if you want a new wallpaper. sorry about the crops.

Square has always (always) understood the way to establish scale with beauty is with birds.

This very quick pan downward reminded me so much of the Secret of Mana cover art.

Here's our first shot of Barrett's arm cannon, notably slimmer than the old version:

And finally, our hero:

And look, the bolts on the shoulder are back.

hnnnnnnng incredible.

So was this in the works before Squeenix trolled us with the PC port?

It sounds like it's not coming to XB1, since Sony is helping fund it. Probably PC though

The talk about modernizing the game to suit today excites me. I always have the original to fall back on for certain mechanics but I'm committed to seeing some real fucking revamps in this remake. So excited.

No, it only controls one character. It would be awful.

Paradigm Shift to another character.

Actually if they do it like Lightning Returns it wouldn't be so bad. Have all three party members visible, and switch between them like you'd switch between schemata setups.

Dumb question (thats prob been asked a lot of times):
- By full remake they mean itll be FF7 with FFXV graphic like environments and characters? basically FFXV with FF7 story/characters/gameplay/etc....right?

Built from the ground up. everything will be mondernized to today's quality and everything can change.

What I love about the OST is that so much of the town and environment music is incredibly sweetly, nostalgically sad. This is not a boisterous adventure... it's incredibly melancholy.

I guess it's that Evangelion influence... the spectacle of mid-90s Japanese entertainment wasn't just going for "cool"... it was going for bittersweet introspective emotion amongst the ashes of the spectacle. And I think that's part of the secret sauce of what makes VII so great. If it were just going for a so-cool adventure, it wouldn't have this strange pull over our hearts...

Some of my fav introspective tracks from the OST:

Anxious Heart

Holding My Thoughts In My Heart

Ahead on Our Way

On That Day, 5 Years Ago

You Can Hear The Cry of the Planet

Reunion

I don't why it is weird to see Xbox button for FFVII. I played all 3 FFXIII titles on my 360 and played Type-0 on my X1 and am looking forward to playing XV on Xbox One in the near future. I don't feel weird at all.

Yes, I admit that the fanbase of FF on Xbox is relative smaller than Playstation, but it doesn't mean we don't deserve to play the game on our favorite console.

FFVII remake is very huge and for sure there will be certain sales contributed by X1 players.

If SE does think the fanbased is too small on Xbox, why do they keep XV and KH3 on X1? And why do they port Type-0 to Xbox One as well.

I think the only reason this game will not come to X1 is Sony funding it.

Last of all, congrats to Sony fans that can play this game at launch. Enjoy this great E3.

I hope it's new ATB system that caters to FFVII being original and new believable to the original battle system. Like an evolution of the FFX-2.

This remake needs a far better English dub than what the VII Compilation has had over the years. I can't even stomach 5 minutes of the Advent Children/Crisis Core dubs. Horrendous doesn't begin to describe them.

because they do not want a wave of xbot backlash (for reference check the one MS and Calladoody are experiencing now). The games have already been announced for it a long time ago (based on wrong xpectations) but I dont think the plans can change now anymore. If they could, they would. especially after type-0.

Don't think it'll be that weird seeing new button prompts. On screen buttons weren't nearly as prominent then as they are now when every other game has their control scheme on the UI constantly.

Yeah. That's obviously the core reason why they decided to announce the PC port to PS4.

So is it going to stick with the same fixed camera angles or go with like a third-person, player-controlled camera?

There's really no telling at this point.

The only thing we know for sure, is it will be something to match standards of the modern day.

Thats kind of what I would wish for. Still turn based but modernised and fast but more control over the party then something like FFXIII

There are other tough choices though like what to do with random battles and do you load into a battle area or is everything seamless and in world.

I'm interested in seeing the materia system they come up with. The original is broken as fuck (read: easy to manipulate and oh so powerful) and pretty simple. Pretty sure we'll see something interesting on that front.

Also: new knights of the round animation. Hype.

How would ya'll feel about 4 party members instead of just 3?

You guys suck. Cloud, Cid and Red XIII is the best. Everyone else to the left please.

Hey! I can respect that one.

Cloud and Red XIII are a must. For the third, I always struggle between Vincent, Tifa and Cid.
