Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

Hey, can someone tell me how many points are required for Tier 8 on Forza Rewards? ty

From the official FAQ, I'm assuming it hasn't changed.

What Forza Score do I need for each of the Forza Tiers?

Tier 1 = 0 pts
Tier 2 = 100 pts
Tier 3 = 700 pts
Tier 4 = 2,500 pts
Tier 5 = 4,500 pts
Tier 6 = 5,500 pts
Tier 7 = 8,500 pts

EDIT:

I now realise that has every tier but 8, shit.

Hopefully the new Focus RS will be in as I'm seriously thinking about buying one as soon as I find out the pricing on them.

Is there a way to make the prebaked lighting process with the cloud?
I don´t know how this prebaking actually works, so its just a thought =)

It just means the lighting for things that don't move is calculated in advance, instead of being refreshed (recalculated) for each frame. So in effect, it's "painted" into the scene. For some games (PGR4, Assassins Creed), that data has been saved in advance so it's loaded the same as any other parts of the scene would be, but that data can get pretty big.

That's how it used to work in the Quake Engine while you were creating levels. There was a "bake" pass the first time you jumped into the game with your level build, but I think those were stored with the level file itself. I'm under the impression that a modern solution can be that while some games are "loading," they're actually generating the shadows, then storing them in temporary memory, but that's something of a guess. The game would need an online connection for a lighting model that used server-side rendering, but it could theoretically work because it doesn't need to refresh constantly (even if it's just loading the high quality pre-calc shadow info).

According to this link

"Day/Night transitions are in: Racing at night was one of the features most requested after the launch of Forza 5 and it's been implemented in the best way possible: Dynamically. You won't just set the game to day or night - you'll be able to see the sun go up or the stars come out, as the race unfolds. It isn't just window-dressing either - as the sun goes down, the track will cool, affecting your grip and lap times."

Uhhh what? Somebody needs to notify them of their misinformation

Other stuff from the article:
Forza 5 already offers increased rewards based on difficulty, and Forza 6 continues this trend. [...] However, it also takes that idea a stage further with its new 'Mods' system. For instance, you could switch on a mod called 'Back of the grid, no rewinds' and be forced to race through from the back without the luxury of a do-over if you screw it up. Hit your race targets with a mod enabled and collect a handsome reward.

Helios, can you enlighten us regarding Time of Day? Which is it?

Turn 10 is also introducing night racing and wet weather, though there's a catch - both features will not be dynamic, with event conditions set in place and unwavering

Forza's configuration of the track hasn't existed for the better part of a decade. The changes over the years have mostly been to things like runoffs and barrier placement, (particularly at turn 6), to accommodate MotoGP races.

As for Turn 10 recapturing the track, I'm not holding my breath, but you never know.
This is a gripe of mine with T10 as well. Seeing that screen of the Audi and Peugeot LMP1 cars was a little disappointing... wasn't Peugeot's last official entry in 2013? Fake edit: 2012, actually. That's seriously out of date.

And I believe their Silverstone was old as well, but I haven't played FM5 so that may have changed. (side note: just bought FM5 at a ridiculous games clearance sale for $3AU. They were selling Ones for $200AUD! Obviously they were hard to find (didn't get one) but I have FM5, so I'm still a little pleased)

For the love of baby Jebus, the 3G TL/TLS need to be immortalized in a game.

Helios can you tell Dan to add the 07-08 Acura TL type S to the game? Thanks bro.

You have the same sickness.

I regret nothing.

They're not simulating a contemporary WEC season, (as awesome as that'd be), so there's nothing wrong with having cars from different eras racing together. BTW, Peugeot bailed after the 2011 season. ;)

Silverstone was indeed rescanned for FM5, and is now in the modern configuration.

So if I buy the Ultimate Edition off the marketplace I get the Car Pass (season pass?) and early access of the game by a week? that is pretty crazy.

Yeah. I think it's a good deal. Car pass isn't a season pass though.

There'll be car packs after the car pass is done, and I bet the Porsche expansion won't be included.

Jesus christ. That's a great feature.

I know, but it just screams "reusing old assets" :/ I suppose Porsche being a bitch to license from to start with doesn't help matters either.

Silverstone was indeed rescanned for FM5, and is now in the modern configuration.
Ah, glad to hear it. Would still like the old one to be in there though, just because it's infinitely better. No IMO about that, it's categorically, universally true ;)

Yep, I'm all in now. That's so fucking gorgeous. Leagues above that boxcar thing a majig Challenger. Just get a parcel box with some wheels, it's the same thing!

Goddam, I have missed you ForzaGAF.

Sorry if I missed this, but will Porsche be available at launch or is that coming later as DLC?

If it's DLC, then any time frame? Also, is it gonna be an additional purchase like Horizon 2 or included in the Car Pass?

Goddam, I have missed you ForzaGAF.

If Turn10 is wise enough to grace us with car clubs and proper leaderboards again, I think I'm going to stick around with the GAF club this time. I think we have some rather speedy people here and there. AND.....with MY help i think we could really crack the top 25 clubs worldwide.

If Shortt joins the club, or fuck....soundscream.....then we will be doomed forever in the 600s.

It's what he told me. It was very "to my knowledge" when he said it, from his perspective there is not dynamic changing of FPS in reflections for performance. He said they are truly committed to maintaining 60fps in gameplay. They have a program that runs scenarios / races on tracks from multiple perspectives in multiple conditions. Of performance drops below 60 fps the event is flagged for the artists and programmers to address.

One of my many play throughs:

All assists off except TCS and braking line, rewind OFF, full sim steering and manual +clutch in rio

Their commitment to 60fps is truly commendable, and they keep their world about a locked framerate unlike many devs targeting 60. Thanks for the impressions and gameplay, looks damn good.

I have immense respect for how solidly Turn 10 sticks to their framerate goals. The fact that the update rate of their mirrors and reflections is supposedly higher than the overall performance of the competition is just amazing.

Is that still uploading? Only showing as 240p and I assume it'll be 60fps/720p at least?

Game looks beautiful.

Be very careful with camera recorded footage. I remember when I recorded footage of Metropolis Street Racer at the SEGA Dreamcast VIP party. When I revealed the video online via Gaming Age (remember, I was the European Editor at the time), the games industry when completely bat crazy because they thought the graphics look next gen at the time. However, that's the magic of camcord footage, it does amazingly makes videos games look better than it actually is so be careful.

That said, we know that Forza 6 looks great anyway. :)

Played it last night. The weather is definitely the real deal. And the frame rate was solid as a rock. Completely changed the game

Played with the hurrican at Sebring at night, full sim everything, assists off. Fucking terrifying.

This looks damn incredible.
@60fps King of hill....this game cant release soon enough.
Now i have to invest in 2 more screens, 2 more X1s, and 3 copies of Forza Motorsport 6.....anyone want to donate to me. will trade '"favors" for games, consoles and/or screens.

Im pretty sure we could toggle rewind in previous Forza.
