Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

ok so while they sort out the shitfest that is the PC version, i have now tried the PS4 version and as many others have it does look gorgeous - in many ways as good as and better than the PC. better rain for sure and solid solid smooth 30 fps. consider me Sonys bitch for now.

once you start playing its controls really well. this will do me fine till the PC is patched.

I really want to play this game so I'm wondering if I should go grab the PS4 version somewhere or if I should just try and get 30fps stable on PC. Its so hard to get a straight answer on whether or not its solid 30fps/no stuttering with a RivaTuner cap, even with the Batmobile. I won't be able to test it myself for another 4 hours while this downloads.

at one point it went down to 1 ( ONE ) Frame during my first chase in the batmobile. That was embarrassing and sad

:(... i dont know what to say anymore...

Wait, so are people not having stuttering issues if they don't unlock it to 60? I've seen a couple people say that they're having no problems before mentioning that it's keeping a solid 30 FPS.

who wouldn't get frustrated? i mean you have titan x sli, i have a 980ti, the game should not perform the way it does specially by the way it looks, im not saying it looks bad but it sure does not look amazong to cripple our cards the way is doing it, it is a shame because is a great franchise, lots of people took the day off to enjoy the game and that joy has turned to frustration, and if we are honest there's no excuse, the game was delayed multiple times, imagine if the game released on the original date, it would have been a bigger mess

Totally agree. But let's not use this as an excuse to alter history. The game's visuals are neither on par nor a step backwards from Arkham City. It's quite a leap forward, in fact. The poor performance, bugs, crashes etc are what need to be criticized (and the reasonable ones are doing just that).

It's going through QA testing right now.
Why the fuck do people think that QA doesn't catch this shit? 9/10 times QA catches basically every issue, and you bet your ass they would have known about these problems. The dev teams don't have time to fix all the issues, and the publishers push the game out the door anyway. This isn't QA's fault. It's WB's fault for pushing the game out when it was in this sorry ass state.

I'm not saying corrupted, im saying where the md5 (hash) doesn't match.

Yeah, I know. I was just being thorough in my reasoning.

Now about the steam id package, I don't know wether you can republish with the same packet id or not (it wouldnt make sense) and if that's the case probably redownloading won't do a thing, sadly.

A game's Steam build id is something that is automatically controlled by Steam itself. It assigns a build id to every branch of every game and it's a number that increases across the board (e.g. if you patched your game for the first time in three years, its build id would jump up massively) -- it's impossible for a game to be patched without its build id changing and there will never be a case of duplicate build ids across two or more games.

More people need to humiliate WB and Rocksteady for this. Be it gaming press, gamers, and even other publishers.

What a joke. Rocksteady did more than release a broken port, they broke my heart.

No joke, I love DC comics, Arkham games and other WBE games but they need to be call out on this shit.

PS4 fanboys have become the ultimate trolls online at this point. Worse than Xbox 360 fanboys last gen.

They're all jumping on this making it seem as though this happens all the time on PC and so "just get it on PS4". As if the EXACT opposite hasn't actually been the truth this generation.

FUCK OFF already.

First off:

i7 4770k
Sapphire HD 7970

I just tried playing the game with borderless window instead of fullscreen and it got rid of like 90% of the extreme framerate drops that would happen by turning the camera. Enough that now I'm going to take the 30fps cap off to see if that "fixes" the issue with the huge spikes in framerate.

Well this shit didn't even need testing of any sort, just start it and you''ll see the problems immediately.

Also 30 fps lock was intentional, so that means they knew this port runs like donkey

This. The publisher is almost always to blame. You can fix anything with patches or enough time beforehand. But you can't fix a room full of suits and shareholders in heat.

I'm running the PC port. I know that it has issues from personal experience. I'm saying that blaming this on QA is stupid, because it's definitely not their fault. The dev team of the PC version HAD to know of these problems, and the publisher almost certainly pushed the game out in this state.

Well I have a PS4, but I am mainly a PC gamer, but yeah sometimes this thing is indeed getting out of hand. People easily forget Driveclub.

might be the last pc game i ever buy

Let's not be hasty, now. PC gaming is generally an excellent thing, but PC gamers need to learn that we are now in a place where we cannot trust AAA game releases. Stop pre-ordering these games. And if you pre-ordered and it has terrible performance at launch, get it refunded if you can.

I am convinced that the introduction of Steam refunds is what lead WB to drop High Voltage Software as their MKX PC developer.

Man what a bummer to read about, kinda surprising since this feels like the most polished next gen game I've played on PS4. (No crashes, close to perfect framerate, no glitches so far)

Hope it's resolved quickly on PC since I think the game is great so far.

The recommended specs for Ultra settings are a 980.

Go find us the ultra settings and get back to us.

Well it isn't stuttering, so that is an instant yes in my book

That's literally the only thing I've encountered in the 4 hours I've played the PC version, everything else looks and plays great. But even though it's just one thing, it's a very crucial thing that makes the game outdoors completely unenjoyable and downright unplayable for me.

i hear ya buddy, i just saved my self all the arse ache for now and chose PS4. whilst i really hope they do fix the PC version there are issues with the underlying tech for UE3 as has been mentioned for asset streaming and so based on that patches can do so much and then its a case of next gen shiny goodness but running on a very old code base. its gona stuggle etc.

Was having trouble with MSI afterburner displaying consistently, so I've switched to FRAPS for the time being. Enabling/Disabling nVidia GameWorks doesn't really seem to have much on an effect on framerate. With settings to high and nVidia GameWorks off I still get around 45-50 FPS when on top of a building looking over Gotham. Can be higher if looking at a low density area. As SOON AS YOU START DRIVING the Batmobile the performance goes to absolute shit. I get drops to 25-28 FPS in some of the most demanding areas, and it usually might peak to 40-42 FPS but its never consistent and is all over the place performance wise. This makes no sense given the fact that it runs at a solid 30 FPS on 7850/7870 equivalent on the PS4. The only thing I can think of is that this game is severely constrained by ram or otherwise has serious memory issues. I frequently have entire environments where the textures don't load outside of extremely low blurry mess. I've played over two hours so that makes me ineligible for refund as I understand it, but if I can warn anybody I will: DON'T PURCHASE THIS GAME YET! ITS BROKEN IN ITS CURRENT STATE! Which is a shame, because it does seem like a good game, that I really wish I could be playing and enjoying, rather than just slogging through with the performance problems.

EDIT: SPECS

CPU: Intel Core i7 860
RAM: 6GB DDR3
GPU: ASUS STRIX GTX 970
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo high performance mode

It's not just this game. EA sent out a tweet about Battlefront. Bunch of PS4 idiots saying how you shoudl buy it on PS4 instead 'cause Arkham.

IT's fanboys being idiot fanboys as usual. Nevermind mind that it would be a hundred times easier to turn the argument around.

Yeah well, what about Witcher 3? Lords of the fallen? Alien Isolations? AC Unity? Battlefield 4? etc, etc, etc.

There's an agenda with them here. They want to spin this from "Fucking terrible dev that is putting yet another half-baked turd out" to PC gaming sucks!! That's not helpful to anyone, including PS4 gamers that have to put up with this on other games.

Why are they doing this? Who knows. Maybe trying to overcompensate? Upset that PC ahrdware has alreayd left their console behind? Fanboys will fanboy I guess, but PS4 ones are pretty out of control.

Sounds good Nzyme32.

I might have to pick up the PS4 version at some point. I hate stutter and widely varying frame rates. It's very distracting. Give me a solid 30fps and I'm happy.

What I can't understand is why the devs can optimize for PS4 but not for PC. Sort your shit out devs.

Well to be fair you have more posts of pc gamers who are saying they should have gone with the ps4 version so it's not really about fanboys.

What I don't understand is people making it seem like the ps4 version is a godsend. It is stuck at 30 fps.

This might be the case. It reminds of of the PC port of Dead Rising 3, which when you unlocked framerate just became a shitshow. I was playing on my TV last night without any config edits and was getting an absolute lock on 1080/30 with everything turned up and gameworks on. To be fair, I'm on 24gb ram, 980ti, and 4670k @ 4.5 ghz.

I've only played like half an hour but I wouldn't have known there was issues if I didn't go to this thread.

Even with the Batmobile? No stuttering while racing around?

Man everyone in here is a bunch of babies... Look, every game released now is going to have problems the day of launch. If you can't troubleshoot or can't deal with having a few issues here or there, you should probably just wait until about a week from now and a few patches will be out and all these little problems will be fixed.

Deal with it?

Has anyone seen this?

Update: Rocksteady has issued a statement regarding the issues, saying it's working to get them resolved while highlighting it was another studio that did the PC port of the game.

"We're aware that some users are reporting performance issues with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight," it reads. "This is something that Rocksteady takes very seriously. We are working closely with our external PC development partner to make sure these issues get resolved as quickly as possible. We'll update this thread when we've got more info to share."

Original story follows.

Forgive me. But did they have the audacity to throw Iron Galaxy under the bus? WB and Rocksteady HIRED THEM knowing full well they did not possess PC experience! Did they just basically say "Well, it's shit but, ya know, we didn't work on this version."

How seriously do they take this again? All parties need to take heat for this.

i7 4790k, 970, 16 gigs of ram. I unlocked the framerate and while it was definitely hitching a bit at times, it was running much better.
