Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

Silver lining of this whole shit show: I was very conflicted about if I would temporarily stop playing the Witcher 3 for this game. I guess that dilemma solved itself! Thanks Iron galaxy!

Hahahaha oh man it dips but nothing crazy when I get the Batmobile going. So far it's running great.

What the hell is up with this port.

Running decently for me too. Framerates in the 40s and 50s, and gameplay is pretty smooth. The game is looking a bit ugly though, given the framerate.

May I ask what your settings are? I have a 280X (which is a re-branded 7970 3GB) and the drops are all over the place, very frequently as low as mid-tens and sometimes even lower when gliding around Gotham City.

I can lock it to 30 fps, put on vsync with adaptative half refresh rate from nvidia control panel and even try borderless windowed. I can manage to make it "playable".

But it is humanely impossible to get over the stupid infinite texture loading time. It's ridiculous and puts me off totally.

Perhaps I'm an anomaly, but I'm running an old i7 930, 16GB of RAM, Windows 7 Ultimate, an Asus R9 280X and getting a smooth 60fps, dipping to the low 30's here and there. Set things to high, and only a few squibbles in audio. Game looks great! I did update to the latest drivers beforehand, and never touched the .ini file. I'm really enjoying this game, the fight mechanics, the cliche story, the game design. I wonder what is causing so many setbacks?
now im starting to believe WB is buying the game on steam to bring the positive reviews up, how in the fuck would you get 60 without changing the INI?

Why would that mean someone at WB wrote the review?
Maybe he's just going on the benchmark scores which don't have the limit for some reason.

I got it with nvidia promo (when they first announced it) so i had no way to pre-purchase it to get the DLC, i did get the New 52 Skin Pack

Ah. Yeah, Nvidia keys generally don't come with pre-order bonuses. The skin pack is included with all new copies of the game as recompense for the cancellation of the Batmobile Edition.

no, you're just reading steam reviews and comments for the first time.

It's never been a high bar over there

Same way he can see smooth 60 fps while having 30 fps here and there. Dreams.

How are you locking to 1/3? Rivatuner?

On first boot, game crashed hard when I tried to run the benchmarks.

I checked the geforce experience thingie the optimal config set ALL the Gameworks stuff to "on". Restarted the game and played for 5 hours straight without issue. Haven't touched the ini file, it runs at a steady 30fps, no stuttering, only ocassional dips during the batmobile segments.

He probably doesn't know the difference between 30 and 60 and thinks a steady 30 is 60.

He's got a point though. Your post reads like it's straight out of GameFaqs.
To be fair, so does yours and most everyone else's. The main difference between GAF and other "shitholes" is that GAF is better moderated. Rants and rambling about fanboys don't belong in this thread, but his points are somewhat more applicable to this topic than personal attacks.

There's an ignore posts from this user option for a reason, and if this user already came to the conclusion that another user does not contribute to the discussion that he had to post about it, he should have just ignored the user instead of posting an insult. This response doesn't belong in this thread either, but whatever.

So, we didn´t get any new info other than the "yeah, we know SOME have problems.... and it´s all Iron Galaxies fault lol" right?

At least we´re at 29% positive reviews on steam. Can´t wait to see how low it gets over night. Actually am excited for it.

Anytime I either change the settings (lower or higher) or play the game for about five minutes it's starts to stutter like crazy! I'm well above the minimum settings and close to the recommended settings. What the hell is going on?!

I think the stuttering is coming from the CPU side of things (besides being a bad port). What's the best way to relieve stress of the CPU when it comes to games like this?

What sucks is that I can't return this game since it was a code from a third party. (Only paid $25, but still)

Yeah, that's what I'm doing as well. 144Hz monitor so I have it locked at 1/3 (48fps). Works great so far.
That's actually a good idea, should be a more realistic target than 60. Might hijack my brothers 144Hz monitor to try this.

Although I'm not having any issues with the game this whole experience has made me second guess buying games anywhere other than Steam even if they are way cheaper. Being able to refund games is a huge perk I'm going to weigh much more heavily from here on out.

Yep! The refunds are a great way for Valve to recapture any market share that has been lost to GMG.

There's something seriously off with the gamepad controls on this game. I got it working on my DS4 though it shows up with Xbox controls. However, when driving the Batmobile on a gamepad it sometimes seems to just start doing its own thing and going in wrong directions. I had seriously trouble with the first Riddler race until I switched to using the keyboard.

Otherwise the game seems to run fine for me but then it damn well should with the kind of hardware I've got.

Also why can't anybody except Rockstar Games have enjoyable car physics and driving feel in open world games?

Be interesting what PC score ends up being

Already on metacritic a 60 review for PC version

Batman: Arkham Knight is a total disaster on the PC platform. Rocksteady must start working on optimisation problems as soon as possible. We are sure, Rocksteady will fix the problems eventually, and of course we will consider it again.

Maybe so, but if GAF has now managed to witch hunt and link random GAF user with WB employee and cost said employee his job how that is right? It's very unlikely that WB employee loses his job, but in case he would it would mean GAF just fucked someone's life over. By going blindly after someone after post that GAF didn't like.

Being unprofessional in position where professionality is expected is wrong and bad, but witch hunts by any forum are also bad.

No, it's not right to stage witch hunts, either, but as an employee in an industry, you have to be extra careful when posting in a place full of that industry's enthusiasts. (Some people might use the term 'lunatic fringe'.)

If you're a marketer and say things that show some sort of pro-publisher bias (or just making generally dumb posts like that one was), you can expect people will try to find exactly why you have that stance to show how everything you say should be taken with a grain of salt.

Just realized Iron Galaxy will most likely be doing Killer Instinct PC.

May God have mercy on our souls

Iron Galaxy was able to bump the res on Killer Instinct's internal resolution and outside of a rocky start on Capcom's 3SO that they kept supporting for like two years, did impeccible work on the Darkstalkers/Marvel collections.

I'm fully ready to just blame Warner Bros. Iron Galaxy doesn't seem that incompetent.

slim is too big for my hopes ;)

We're on the same page (that QLOC is all but assuredly involved). I'm just making the implicit point that in the absence of confirmation there's still a small -- nay, infinitesimal -- chance that the original branch name isn't a smoking gun.

Finally got this thing to work through Nvidia experience but it absolutely ate my computer and gpu for lunch. Massive stuttering, had to downgrade to 720p and turn down all sorts of graphical tweaks. lol I'm gonna uninstall this and play it once I build my new comp.

Went into stuttercity again after about fifteen minutes of playing. Memory leak, I guess? Man I really want to play this game. :|

Can't believe nobody has said anything of import besides that throwaway message from Rocksteady.

What's characteristic of witch hunts? People blaming someone for something they had nothing to do with. As was the case here.
