Batman: Arkham Knight On PC Is Not Very Good [UP: WB suspends future sales until fix]

Who is responsible for this mess of a port?

What a crushing disappointment.

They always say we should vote with our wallets. Thanks to Steam refunds, I can now actually do so.

I wish it would send the proper message about quality control and appreciating your PC audience... but I fear the takeaway will be to not bother with the format at all.

Thats what I'm wondering what happened? We have seen a great PC build. 60 fps with all the effects. I mean they were showing the "PC version" like crazy for months and Nvidia hyping it to the moon and back

Was the entire thing a fabrication?

Man not only this, but also the whole Batmobile edition fiasco, and possibly some other things. What a crappy mess to what seems like the conclusion to a wonderful series.

It had to be. The cynic in me also thinks that they started showing off all the long form footage on PS4 this year because they knew the PC game was a mess.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
The thing that makes me most sad is that PC games are still being outsourced so that the "real" dev can devote all their time and resources to the console game. I actually felt good about this one too since, up until a few months ago, all footage and even playable demos were done on PC and it looked great.

Outsourcing has produced some top-notch PC ports.

It's pretty wild how people are getting so many problems. I get some small dips when I call the batmobile, but that is all. I got lucky.

Pretty much a solid 60fps with everything "maxed" on my 980.

it's a pretty fun game, too. sorry guys :(

You are still missing AO and rain effects.

We live in the year 2015 where I pay thousands to get my SLI 980 PC setup and the game looks worse compared to $400 PS4.

What kind of BS is this!

Kojima: take all the time you need on MGSV for PC.

Its already coming out 14days later on PC , they can take their time cause I already ordered on Console, I'll buy it on PC again if its a good port.

Are we sure that the PC version doesn't just have an exclusive supervillain that controls time? Seemingly one who greatly fears the batmobile specifically

I really thought we had gotten past PC ports this low of quality [from pretty much everyone that's not ubisoft]. Hope it gets fixed soon but what the hell were those Nvidia promo videos running anyways?

This is the flagship game packed with all 900 series graphic cards right now. THINK ABOUT THAT. GPU's that are vastly more powerful than the PS4 or Xbone and this game is supposed to be the kind of showcase that they pack in with them, and it runs like THIS?! With less effects and worse graphics?
Haha, yeah. WB Games probably doesn't care, otherwise they wouldn't have released the game in its current state, but nVidia can't be too happy about it.

Quite surprised by the negative reports on this, been running on a 970, 16gb ram and a powerful i7. Pretty average around here and can't say im disappointed. Only seen it drop below 30 twice and both times was ejecting from the batmobile. Running at 1440p and had 1 crash in 4 hours. Obviously not ideal but I guess I'm lucky im not experiencing the trouble others are.

Apparently closing Steam, restarting your PC, and booting the game again will add in all the missing effects and give you 60fps at 1080p. We are all just too stupid to understand the settings

There was a typo in the press release, it should say:

Close steam, come back in 4-6 months, download a sizeable patch, then boot the game.

Or refund, and buy the fixed GOTY version in the steam Christmas sale.

I implore as many a as possible to use the refund system. Send a message to the publishers that the consumers do have a voice now.

I almost wish I was naive enough to pre-order so I could refund the game.

Oh man, seems like a real clusterfuck.

Weren't the previous Arkham games pretty solid on PC? Wonder what happened with this one. A botched port rushed out too early is not the way this franchise should go out. I'm sure it'll be fixed eventually, but by then... you know how it goes with these hyped AAA titles. Out one week, forgotten the next, replaced by the next big one.

Origins was particularly egregious because WB came right out and said they'd rather work on DLC than patches for the game. As someone that suffered a couple gamebreaking bugs (plus a handful of other, non-gamebreaking issues) I can't help but be furious at the statement itself and their ultimate treatment of Origins.

At least Arkham Knight doesn't have multiplayer. Can't imagine how badly that would be right now.

Incredible.

Did they ever release another patch? I remember this incident.

even in the batmobile? I wanna see the receipts.

There's a couple of things tucked into that WB "Did you try Settings" post that people should pay attention to.

Some people set a fixed pagefile size, or disable it entirely in Windows. Don't do this. Ever.

I have the game installed on an SSD and it is very smooth with the asset streaming. If you've got an SSD, install it on the SSD. If you don't, well you've been missing out on the single most revolutionary thing in PC performance over the past 5 years. You might want to work on that.

Beyond that...did you try Settings? :3

Given how Batman is wearing his battle suit from the get-go in that video, it's certainly not the final build. May be all these cutbacks were hacked together later as lazy workarounds for other issues.

The game is shit , plain and simple , honestly , I ran the game at 4k+AA on , the aliasing was still horrible. Now we know that we got the gimped version graphically , and it still runs like crap.

Grab a refund if you can and don't look back , I know people that tried to fix the game and ended up not being able to get a refund cause they spent more than 2hrs in the game.

The game is not showing in Steam's featured section anymore...

Good , it deserves all the Negative reviews it gets , the amount of effort put into this port is 0.

Yes. I guess the next step will be WB explaining how to properly administer the Fonzie touch to get the game working.

The solution on their website for PC Issues should be

1. Sell your PC on Ebay .

2. Buy PS4

3. Buy Arkham Knight on PS4

4. Put Disc into PS4

5. Download Patch and play.

The port is absolute shit and all, but I have seen this complaint a couple of times and it does not make sense to me. 4k dsr to 1080p + AA was very effective at eliminating aliasing on my system. I still had to quit playing the game due to the missing effects, but aliasing was not a big issue in 4k. Did you play on an actual 4k screen to notice the aliasing? Or maybe borderless windowed? (will run in desktop resolution irrespective of your choice, so you have to set desktop to 4k in this case, which you may have forgotten to do?)

I have to money, but it would be awful to reward WB with a second purchase when they failed so spectacularly to deliver here.

Yep Set my desktop to 4k.

My eyes are extremely sensitive to aliasing .

After gaming at 4k , I played the Ground Zeroes on PS4 and , the Aliasing on the Fences kills my eyes.

I bought it on PS4 , but thats because I preordered the CE like 4 months ago.

I'm too lazy to ship it back to Amazon USA from where I live.

Pathetic solution - why should people dump PC gaming due to a terrible port as if that defines the worth of a PC. The solution is even simpler.

1. Use Steam Refund on Arkham Knight

2. Play the myriad of other games available

3. Buy the inevitable GoTY only if it is known to be fixed. Otherwise continue enjoying the myriad of other games

I'd be very surprised if this game gets fixed on PC in a couple of weeks considering how the people in-charge PR is handling this don't have any legitimate answers for the problems we have.

I feel sad for those who bought it from 3rd party sites and can't get a refund.

I'm at a loss of words. I actually can't right now.

How does the console version with a GTX 660 run 'well' and with better graphics than the Recommended Specs of a GTX 760 we'll never know.

That Mark Cerny Magic.

...

Nobody knows how much of an effort it is to get the pc version in check, but we know it is not up to rocksteady, it is up to Iron Galaxy. Nobody knows what their contract says about a situation like this.
We are (as most of the time) in the dark here and it does not look very good.

Actually no one knows who is doing anything right now, for certain. It could be Rocksteady for all we know. No one is talking so... We just have to wait.

I'm just saying with the 70ish% negative steam reviews , news coverage , refunds.

You'd think someone would outright say we have a patch we are working on to at least fix the performance side of things.
