iOS Gaming June 2015 | The future is now

I co-sign all of this. Thought I'd love Frozen Synapse but it never clicked. Door Kickers is a 10/10 of what it's trying to accomplish. I hope the controls translate well.

You guys are making it tough to resist. Still think I may settle on Her Story and the new Icarus-X game.

This will definitely be on the wishlist though.

I'm moving on from Sword & Sworcery. It got to the point where the game felt like a chore instead of being enjoyable. Maybe it was really novel when it came out but i'm finding it to be a bit too tedious for my liking.

A shame too, I had a good streak of games on my phone with framed, the room, and monument valley. I suppose they can't all be winners.

Turning out to be a whopper of a release night. Along with Door Knockers, Her Story, the Icarus-X sequel, now there's another Amazon goodie Tales from Deep Space and Lego Batman: Beyond Gotham.

Don't care about another Lego game, but want all the others. We're talking about BIG games file size wise too though so...still Her Story (this 1.8 GB game is going to really hurt in what I delete) and Icarus-X for me. Oh and already got Silver Bullet.

A ton of smaller releases as well from Spike Dislike 3 to Fort Meow.

Edit: Oh, hell, now I can't decide between Tales from Deep Space and Her Story.

Her Story is fascinating and a very engaging mystery, but it's more of a narrative puzzle box.

Tales From Deep Space is obviously a puzzle/platforming adventure

Depends on if you want something very unique and narrative focused and cerebral, or something more whimsical and fun

Looks pretty interesting. How are the controls on the iPad? Can you describe how the game plays?
Each mission you deploy troopers and set their paths and actions through a simple drag and tap system. The game is real time tactical strategy with pause, no grids or hexes. There's a lot of depth. Going in loud or being stealthy, different classes and equipment, dealing with the fatal funnel (aka doorways) and fields of fire and cover. You can set up go codes to perform simultaneous breaches or sync actions to flank enemies.

Tales from Deep Space vs Her Story, very hard to recommend one over the other. Been playing some Tales, and it's very polished and fun so far. Has a metroidvania-esque set up, various outfits and items to unlock, solo co-op puzzles and a very charming art style

While Her Story is innovative and weaves a mature mystery with a fascinating non-linear structure. It's an excellent experience

I decided to go with Her Story. The uniqueness factor had me more intrigued.

Trying to get Icarus-X but getting that damn "app is no longer available" error. May have to wait until morning for that one.

Just noticed that TinyKeep was released tonight on iOS. Been playing of for a while on Android and it's an excellent physics based, 3D rogue-like / dungeon crawler. Highly recommended for fans of the genre.

Yeah, it's always been a bit of style over substance. What style though!

Got bored pretty quick myself, too.

Is it worth buying an iPad Air if I already own an iPhone 6 Plus? Any games that are exclusive to the tablet only or plays better on it?

Mobile gaming in general is a better experience on iPad. Now that I have an iPad Mini, I can't got back to my tiny phone screen. Plus you can to play all the best ports like FTL, Door Kickers, Papers Please, etc.

Someone sell me on BG2 or Icewind dale now that they're on sale for $5. How do they play on the iPhone 6? Which one would you recommend?

I bought Baldur's Gate once I read that they had done extensive work at making it work on touch interfaces, made it universal, and have a means of transferring saves between platforms. Seems like a good way to play a +40 hour RPG now that i can jump between the iphone and ipad versions without much of an issue.

Apple is pulling all apps from the store that have a confederate flag, including civil war reenactment Games:

Interesting. I agree with retailers pulling sales of the flag and even apps that use it just to use it. I also live in South Carolina and am ashamed that our state even had it on the Capitol grounds.

But Civil War reenactment games? That really is just history. And I doubt many people are playing those games just to defend the flag and it's hatred symbolism. Honestly think most of those Confederate flag, racist idiots (sorry but that is what most of them are. Or at least those who use it because they truly are racist) would even know how to play such a game.

That's just like playing a WW II game and not allowing Nazis because some people may believe in what they stood for.

Word of warning for those playing Her Story. Was trying to put more video clips in my "session" clips but it wasn't letting me (had five in there already). So was poking around and in the settings it said "delete session data", I thought it meant clearing the saved clips, but it actually reset the whole game. Guess my stupidity, but if there's anyone like me, thought I'd mention it.

Also, is it obvious when you've solved the case or are you just supposed to assume you did?

As with other areas of Apple censorship policy such as nudity and violence, games appear to have been treated differently here. I note that Apple still has music, podcasts, audiobooks, TV shows that feature the flag on their cover art or in the content itself.

Getting my iPad Air 2 back from Apple later today after service (broken screen ... don't ask).

Wonder what to expect from a "replacement unit" ... Ahh well, Goblin Sword will rock no matter what.

The World Ends With You now works with IOS 8

Yeah, but they only fixed the iPad version. And I think it's BS if they think I should have to pay again to get that one (I didn't have an iPad at the time I bought it).

Edit: I forgot this is one of those games where they don't allow the iPhone version to be downloaded on an iPad. That sucks. Guess both versions were fixed. I just can't pull up the iPhone version and no longer have an iPhone. Urggghh.

I'm probably going to get an iPhone 6 plus with 64 gig today. I haven't owned an iphone as my main phone since the 3gs. Anything I should know gaming wise? I've been mostly keeping up with The New iPad (iPad 3 I think?) Am I'm going to find a large number of my games incompatible?

With an iPhone 6+? No. It's the latest model and should be good for quite a while.

The latest iPad is still the iPad Air 2. I have an iPad Mini 2 and think there's only been one game released that even it doesn't support.

Thanks for all the heartwarming comments guys! :)

As requested, here are some screenshots of the game (HUD turned off)

I wish I could be more specifik regarding the release date but it won't be long from now since we're right in the middle of the approval process.

If you have more questions - shoot! :)

Are Sorcery 1/2 ever on sale? I either miss it or something else happens...might just bite the bullet and drop the $5 on each.

whats the length of the game? is it broken up into levels/worlds?
control schemes?
did you get in touch with sega or they with you?

The game has 3 large worlds and 1 village to explore for side-quests and mini games. The total length of the game I'd say is around 10+ hours if you complete everything.

There are 3 control schemes in the game:
1. Push - See you finger as the wind as you're pushing Heroki forward with one or multiple fingers. We actually began building the game around the push controls, but we disovered that it has a small learning curve. Once you 'got' it, it works so so well.
2. Pull - As seen in the trailer. Just tap and hold your finger where you want to go. Multitouch supported as well.
3. Pad - A floating joystick as seen in so many other iOS titles. Works pretty neat :)

SEGA got in touch with us after we posted a (very old) teaser trailer online back in 2011. We went back and forth for a good year and so we got on board.

With that bundle I get Down among the Dead Men for free (only one I didn't own). Bundles' pricing is still weird.

It is very weird. Still quite a few bundles where the price is not reduced or they even prevent purchase of the bundle if you have a few of the games. Very inconsistent.

Also wish there was an easier way to find bundles.

This has to be one of the best release weeks in a while. Her Story, Tales From Deep Space, Door Kickers, TinyKeep, Piloteer, Dragon Quest VI, Icarus-X: Tides of Fire, LEGO Batman: Beyond Gotham...

Was going to add new games, but I decided to wait till next thread so next thread OP has all new games

Holy crap. Picked up Hand of Fate today on PS4 and see why you're addicted. Great game.
Made an OT for it a few days ago

Also on tangentially related note, made an OT for podcasts, so if you're looking for stuff to listen to on your iDevices, come check it out

So I'm pretty sure I have things figured out in Her Story, but does the game let you know when you are finished or do you just stop playing?

Edit: Got to the credits. Great innovative game with some brilliant acting.
