Coro Coro - Is that some new Zygarde form?

No I meant for this movie. I was just wondering what is gonna be the companion pokemon that usually is the main star and interacts with Ash. With the exception of a few movies we usually have a pokemon directly interact with Ash and co. during the movie. Like Celebi, Jirachi, Lucario, etc.

That will definitely be Volcanion.

Honestly...doesn't strike me to play the villain role, tbh.

It could easily be a movie about Zygarde wanting to return the planet to it's natural form by using its power to get rid of humans. Pretty simple way to write Zygarde as the "villain".

There are no Pokémon villains in Pokémon. Except maybe Malamar...

If there are antagonistic Pokémon, they're often just misunderstood

That's why I put villain in quotes, he'd be the antagonist and he'd be wanting to get rid of humans because of all the damage they've done, then at the end of the movie it realizes that there is still hope for humans.

I personally hope they dial back on these alternate forms for legendaries. I like the simplicity of coming up with one good design instead potentially compromising the design of the base form to make the alternate appear more desirable.

Malamar is the best in the anime.

More legit evil pokemon please, the first Malamar episode was probably one of the best episodes of the anime i'd seen. That twist when it turns out Malamar was the one behind everything was just so satisfying considering the whole "No pokemon is evil, just misunderstood or misused" thing which has been going on through the entire anime up until that point. It was especially awesome because it really looked like Malamar was just a normal pokemon being used like any other, and then suddenly the ruse is up and he starts SPEAKING and reveals himself and it's urrrrrggghhhh so good.

I'm not caught up with the anime since then though, and I know there was another Malamar episode, I hope they haven't revealed Malamar is being controlled by a human or something.

of course, it makes sense now!

Nope they're still evil.

In fact,
apparently they're time traveling aliens or something

The XY series has really changed up how the anime deals with things. It has dealt with death on numerous occasions, with gambling, with evil Pokémon (other than the Togepi that just caused issues) and so forth.

Yeah, I was really impressed with it, XY totally got me back into the anime. The scene of Serena cutting her hair was especially powerful and far more emotional than I was expecting the anime to get.

As was Mega Lucario going batshit crazy, I loved that too.

YEAH BOOOYY POKÉMON Z!!!! Now to play the waiting game for an official announcement.

So who has started pre-planing their Pokémon Z team... >_> <_< >_> I kinda started.

Why do you seem to be one of the very very few people who think the reasoning behind this item is more than just letting us know there will be new generations in the future? I really don't get why this generation would last four years even with this item existing.

Plus the fact if the item is hinting at a future generation it would be trapped in gen 6 as you can't send item to Pokémon Bank.

The Strange Souvenir clearly hinting at Pokémon Z being set in a new region and shares a connection with Zygarde true form.

The main thing for me in Gen IV was that with Sinnoh, you could understand all of the area's significance to the world with just its placement. Mt. Coronet being a huge obstacle in the middle of the region and you having to travel through it numerous times is a prime example of this. Pokémon writing is laughed at, but I think people gloss over how well Sinnoh as a region was handled. There's Oreburgh mining at the base for natural resources, Celestic Town at the other side with its lore, and at the north there's Route 216 with snow. Not to mention the story climax happens at the peak of Mt. Coronet, and then there's Arceus' special event postgame.

Most of the regions in the series feel like theme parks, and that's fine. I just think that Sinnoh is more layered. Basically, I think the plot and and world design lend themselves well to one another in DPPt. When you think about it, the only other region where this happens is Hoenn with its land/water split. The difference here is that Sinnoh isn't just water for a large part of the game and is also better thought out narratively. Being the next region after Hoenn, it felt like a very natural evolution IMO.

When I see this I see something thoroughly well thought out and nothing feels out of place.

Man Sinnoh was an amazing region, which is probably why Gen 4 is my favourite gen

Yeah. It was initially revealed in a Nintendo game listing on the Japanese site for upcoming DS games in October 2004 following Munchlax's cameo in the Destiny Deoxys movie.

Then, throughout 2005, we heard nothing about it and we were ever hopeful with CoroCoro's release each month but never got anything. It wasn't until July 2005's issue of CoroCoro where we heard about the delay with a little bit of information confirming backwards compatibility and that there would be loads of pre-evolutions and evolutions of classic Pokémon. It also revealed The Pokémon Company's plan called "The Road to Diamond & Pearl" which was then clarifiedin the issue of CoroCoro out in August 2005 that there was a collection of spin-off titles to fill the gap. These titles were Pokémon Trozei, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red & Blue and Pokémon Ranger.

And thus, due to that delay, we had two Diamond & Pearl related movies in Generation III, and a third which had a Diamond & Pearl Pokémon.

Good times.

Ahh yeah the good old days where it felt like we were in between gen 3/4.

Fun times.

It has become one of your favourite designs based on a silhouette?

You should never under estimate the craziness of the Pokémon fan base, we all got excited they release a youtube trailer announcing Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. It was a short video and just contained the word Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and yet racked up tons of views.

Difference is that Generation IV was initially set for a 2005 launch, but then got delayed to 2006.
True enough, but a Gen VII Pokemon in the 2016 movie would likely be a year and a half before Gen VII, as was the original plan with Munchlax.

If that was indeed the plan, the 2016 movie would have some not-insignificant similarities to Destiny Deoxys- a focus on the third cover legendary (Rayquaza/Zygarde), the reveal of the generation's last mythical Pokémon (Deoxys/Volcanion) and an initial tease towards the generation to follow (Munchlax/????). Could be a strategy they're looking to revisit.

Looks super cool. At least the silhouette does.

Really hoping Z is a big step up from X/Y. I found Kalos to be a really boring region and story was god awful.

Also has Hoopa been released in U.S?

Not yet.

But yeah I agree with you on Kalo, the region and the people living in it were underwhelming and easy.

Game Freak needs to bring back challenge mode, flesh out the gym leaders and for the love of Arceus give Dark type a gym leader.

Fucking Fairy type got a gym before them.

So pokemon Z is basically confirmed then.

Hopefully they improve on X/Y a lot, lord knows it needs a near complete rebalancing so that it's maybe not the easiest pokemon game in existence..

Proper hard mode, not through increasing levels, but with more intelligent trainers and sensible team compositions please.
And by god not that bullshit from gen V where you had to own both to unlock easy and hard mode ...

This, so badly.I would be so happy if they did this. I realky enjoy the main story portions of Pokemon so curb stomping through everything without really trying made XY super boring for me.(And no, I didn't use EXP Share)

I'm hopeful this will be good. Outside of Gen 6, D/P are probably the worst Pokemon games, but Platinum did a great job of fixing its issues.

Hopefully they make it so playing on a N3DS improves the framerate.

The worst pokemon games are objectively Gen 1, unless you're going by some bullshit "for their time" metric. I loved Gen 1 when I was a kid, but it was riddled with problems, and Kanto is easily the most boring region once you get past nostalgia (Understandably since it was designed to be played on the original gameboy, but still really boring. The only real locations memorable on their own strengths are Lavender Town and the Pokemon Tower and the former is mostly because of the latter)

What I want from Game Freak for Pokémon Z;

-Less gen 1 pandering, X and Y was awful with this and left Kalo without a strong identity.

-Bring back Challenge mode, instead of fleshing it out they just dropped it entirely.

-A better Post game, X/Y and OR/AS post game was weak.

-Don't give out an uber strong Pokémon half way through the game, it was stupid that we got Latias/Latios without any effort at all.

- Flesh out the gym leader and the story, X and Y was weak in both department.

-Don't dump all of the story in one go, X and Y did this and all it did was caused the journey come to a screeching halt.

-Streamline the text, some of the texts need updating like teaching TM text which is stuck in its gen 1 days.

-Have a champion that actually plays an active role in the story, Diantha is the worse champion ever.

-Don't force me to use Mega, I don't like them nor do I want to use them.

-Give more trainers Mega, so I can beat the crap out of them.

-Get rid of the rollerstakes or at least give the option of taking it off and bring back auto run from the Jotho remake.

-Give us one and only one rival only, the group friends in X and Y didn't work.

-More trainers customization, especially for the boys.

-Don't turn on the EXP share on by default when you give it to us.

-Keep HM to side areas and not part of the main quest, no-one likes using HM slaves.

-This is personal wish but make the Evil team boss a female, as we still yet to have one.

At this point i only ask a battle frontier from GF

Well one of the NPC in X and Y hints at a battle frontier building in a new region and there's a fan theory that he's talking about the region for Pokémon Z.

Soooo we might actually get a battle frontier.

Eh, I'm pretty sure Meowth is a villain, maybe on the more comedic side, but he, Jessie and James have done some fucked up shit at times. And there is nothing misunderstood about him, he joined Team Rocket on his own free will.

Sounds great!

And even if I don't except it:

-continue to use Dexnav/Soaring from now on
-bring back battle Frontier or PWT

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Man TPC are on point with their promotions for Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages. They are throwing everything at it!

What's the early consensus of the film? Good, Bad? Especially after that abomination Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, hope it's good!

And yup, Pokemon Z basically confirmed! Technically the game comes out prior to the movies so we are looking at a February release since July is film?

February makes the most sense with that being the 20th anniversary of the franchise.

That almost makes me want to watch some XY episodes. I haven't actually watched the show consistnetly since.... the very beginning of hoenn I think? I lapsed mid-johto as a kid but the pokemon league hype brought me back at the end of it, and then i carried on for a bit after.

I hope somebody with gif-making skills finds a way to make an "IT WAS ME ASH! IT WAS ME ALL ALONG!" wrestling gif edit out of that. I'd die laughing.

I stopped watching at around the same point. I think I stopped watching it consistently after the end of Johto, and then occasionally caught episode of the Hoenn series.

I was a bit hesitant going into XY after so long, and especially after the Unova series which I heard was really bad, but I found myself really enjoying it. I went on a hiatus towards the end of the first XY season, but I'm looking forward to getting back to it at some point, because it seems like it's just getting better.
