Holy crap, that's tragic. It's such a shame to lose one of the biggest pillars in the gaming industry, who led Nintendo to such huge success in the last console generation, and this current handheld generation. He helped give gamers such wonderful systems as the DS, the 3DS, the Wii, and the WiiU, and helped get great first-party titles on those systems, so that gamers would enjoy them.

RIP, Mr. Iwata. It's such a tragedy to see you go.

Amazed that he's only 55 given how long he's been in gaming. He was a legendary figure in the industry and he'll be sorely missed. Mario Maker is a fine game to go out on, and I look forward to being able to play that ASAP.

Here is a scaled down version for avatars, with a white glow to detach it from the background. And the original. It's quick and dirty.

I really need this on my avatar too, if someone would be so inclined to help me with this. Thanks.

This saddens me to a very deep degree.

He held such a genuine enthusiasm for his work and the company's games. And he had such a sharp sense of wit and humour. I recall that as Nintendo began to perform poorly, there were many calls to replace him, but I opposed it simply by the virtue that I couldn't imagine watching Nintendo Directs without him.

But now we have to. He will no longer present news directly to us. And, because of that, we are so much poorer. I'm glad he was immortalised as a Muppet. I'm glad he was given that chance.

Now, I'm going to sit quietly in sadness for a little while, as the news washes over me.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Terrible, terrible news.

That guy led Nintendo into the Wii and DS era - what an amazing legacy.

First tragedy, then farce.
Condolences to his friends, family and coworkers.

He had a positive impact on a lot of people lives, mine included.

He's a legend in this industry, and from what I can tell a very nice man.

I assume you didn't mean for this to be an insult.

No I didnt.... this is what I meant

Was really nice having one console that was mostly innocent and aimed for the next generation of kids. With games lacking any cynicism when the best selling games on other consoles are primarily about murder.
