It makes me happy in a small way that Iwata was such a name in the community that we're only one digit off from "views" and "replies."

Everybody's got some respects to pay.

I'm super sad by this :( My favorite person in the industry, a perpetually nice man and someone who genuinely loved games.

I think this is the first game industry related death that really hit me.

It feels so sudden, even though we knew he was sick, there wasn't really any warning that he was near death.

RIP

This is unbelievable, I'm in shock.

I will always remember all the great things he did for Nintendo as a programmer and CEO.

May his soul rest in peace.

Thank you for everything Mr. Iwata.

This is really sad news. RIP good man. We will miss you.

One thing I really hate about the gaming media is how they don't give importance to such news. I remember when Hiroshi Yamauchi passed away and the mainstream media outlets gave the news more coverage than the likes of Gamespot. It's sickening how the games media just makes this into lesser news. Today IGN hasn't even made this among the top news. It's lower down on their homepage. It's a disgrace.

These creators are the life and soul of the games and their lives are more important than the games.
Couldn't agree with you more.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Iwata.

Though I rarely agreed with his decisions as the CEO of Nintendo, he worked on some of my favorite games and made them exist, and for that I thank him deeply.

I feel so silly for how hard this is actually hitting me. Tearing up, and I almost never do. What I'm passionate about and what Mr. Iwata was passionate about where often the very same things. The way he interacted with his audience was so incredibly endearing, with Nintendo Directs and Iwata Asks. This doesn't feel like some CEO of a multibillion dollar global company passing away.

I feel like I've lost a friend.
