Said it on Twitter about the PlayStation tweet, but worth saying here. Class. Nothing but class. Much respect being paid tonight to a legend, from all parts of the industry.

Surreal; what a loss for the gaming industry.

Considering the average life expectancy of Japanese men, he passed away far too young D:

Very sad news, didn't ever expect it at such a young age, he was only like 4-5 years older than my parents after all :/

Got woken up to this news earlier but just woke up again and I am just completely devastated. I had a feeling something was up when he started delegating the Directs to Morimoto (he didn't do the last one) and couldn't make E3.

I wish this didn't happen.

May his legacy always stand. He was one of the greatest ones. His love for the work was unmatched and he has altered my life in ways never thought possible for someone I never met. I always hoped I would one day meet him and thank him. May he rest in peace.

What? I can't believe it.

Anyone knows the cause of death? I saw a picture of him last year and he looked emaciated, did he go through a hard illness?

Geez, he was so young. May he rest in peace.

I've been searching through my StreetPass Plaza trying to find the Iwata that arrived via SpotPass forever ago, so I can VIP him. At first I was really frustrated that there isn't a way to sort the SpotPass Miis from all of the others, but then every so often I'd see the face of someone I know who I haven't seen in years, or some random stranger who I had a good time playing a quick game with. It's sort of like looking through a scrapbook of brief moments of happiness shared with friends and strangers, all thanks to the magic of Nintendo.

Thanks for all the memories, Mr. Iwata.

Was at a concert, when roommate shoved their phone at me showing this. I was in shock, simply couldn't believe.it, didn't want to believe it.

Just gutted. I had fallen out of touch with Nintendo to a degree, but there is no shortge of repect for Iwata. R.I.P.

Ok, I suck at photoshop. If anybody could please make my background transparent I'd be very grateful.
First time updating my avatar since 2 Christmases ago. So damn sad. :(

Uh what the fuck

Turned on the TV whilst getting some breakfast and I was immediately greeted with this headline on BBC News.

That was a shock.

Can anyone tell me what the best Virtual Console games are that were worked in by Iwata? I know Earthbound would be on there, but what else? Feel like I should play stuff in his memory.

this shit right here is why console fanboys dont make sense
everyones friends with everybody
the console wars are all a lie

Exactly. These people are all human and just working in an industry they either love or are good at. At the end of the day they would all be treated with respect if they fell on hard times, just as they show at the moment.

They're all in the business of providing us with entertainment in the end. That should always be a good thing, regardless of the implementation differences.

I decided to draw a small picture as a token to the massive amount of respect I had for Iwata:

I can't even imagine where I'd be without his influence. Kirby's been my favorite character since a young age and growing up to learn his role in other games I've come to adore has been had a huge impact on me. He might have been a CEO of a major company, but he was one of us and never hid it from us.
I continue to be blown away by the talent of so many of you. This thread has made me smile at times when I didn't think I could.

Fantastical

Death Prophet
I'm sad that he is gone at all, but I'm even more sad it was during a time when Nintendo is in such hot water. It must have been an incredibly stressful time for him. Although I'm critical of Nintendo, I love the company and its games. RIP Mr. Iwata.

He had a tumour on his bile duct. They thought they removed it last year, but it must have come back.

Unfortunately, such a thing has such a high mortality rate. It's one of the worst places to get one.

He was diagnosed with cancer last year, lied about treating it and pretty much worked with what time left he was given by the doctors.
