Also, with all this speechless lurking, i somehow forgot to pay my condolences too.

So... RiP Iwata-san.

You've lived a good life and i try not to be sad, but instead try to be happy with all the things that you've created. Just how you wanted it to be.
This will take its time to heal - for sure. I know i will always think of it for a couple of time, as soon as i play a Nintendo game... which will be nearly every single day. Thanks for everything.

That false Yamauchi rumor is actually halfway believable to anyone who was aware of his real life reputation.

Newsflash: GAF doesn't need 50 people bringing more attention to a shitpost by quoting it and asking for a ban in a thread mods said repeatably that they're following closely.

Well, I've spent a lot of time reading obituaries and other thoughts since last night. Was pretty emotional at times.

But now I think I'm just going to drink some beer and play some video games.

Can't really think of a better way to honour Iwata.

I was playing Captain Toad (still haven't seen everything, bought the game in april) and I completed a book... feeling happy and stuff. And of course, Excutive Producer Satoru Iwata rolls over the screen. Now I feel bad again.

To see everyone being so invested in the life of someone they never met is kind of weird and foreign to me. That said, Iwata always seemed like a cool guy in the Nintendo Direct videos. His influence in the industry was quite frankly, unmatched. RIP Satoru Iwata.
I felt the same way until this. While I am not crying like some, I do feel sad, which is more than I can say for when some random celebrity overdoses or w/e. I guess it's because it is the first time someone that I have been following online has died. He's a very important figure in the industry so I can understand why a ton of people are reacting this way. For us hardcore gamers who are always browsing neogaf, people like Iwata, Miyamoto, Nomura, Shuhei Yoshida are basically immortal. This is an unfortunate reminder that that is not true.

No. In 2013 at B Dash Camp Osaka, Iwata talked about what Yamauchi taught him and one of the things were:

When we talk about Nintendo we cannot ignore (former president) Hiroshi Yamauchi who just recently passed away. He always said that if you have failure, you don’t need to be too concerned. You always have good things and bad, and this reflects the history of Nintendo

I don't see why you have to meet someone in person for them to have an affect on you.

Can't find the age of each pic, but I definitely remember him looking like the left photo just over a year ago.

He was definitely not doing well over the past year. Now he can finally rest :(

Cancer (and other serious ailments) physically eats away at people, yeah. My mom's BF died of cancer a few years ago and I was shocked when I saw him for the first time after a few months away (was in university, couldn't see him until the end) and I was winded when I first saw him -- he had lost so much weight, the colour from his skin was gone, etc.

Same feeling kinda washes over me, looking at that picture of Iwata. :(

Breaking news: gulliable people fall for joke site
I'm still trying to figure out why the hell the poster thought it remotely appropriate to post that here even if he/she thought it were real.

It was a thread shitting post regardless of gullibility.

It looks as though it were posted to insult the legacy of the man being remembered in this thread while blaming him for killing Yamauchi and in a round about way accusing Iwata of bringing about his own death by releasing the Wii U.

It was in exceptionally poor taste and just a long form version of the one sentence wonder from last page who's posts were mod deleted.

Now that I think about it, I think he knew this was coming at some point in the near future. I bet you he was doing a lot of work behind the scenes to deal with the eventuality.

Anyone else who grew up reading N64 Magazine must remember the "Yamauchi talks" section which had a demon Yamauchi with laser beam shooting eyes.

It was consistently hilarious. And terrifying.

I've been donating to cancer research charities every month for the past 2 years or so and for anyone who has a few extra pounds or dollars lying around each month then it's always worth looking in to.

Fuck cancer and together it will be beaten. Let's just make that sooner rather than later everyone. I'm not sure what the main research charities are in the USA, Europe and Asia, but if anyone could post a link then please do.

Thanks.

This kind of makes me think why the DENA deal happened out of nowhere. If his successor had done this no way Nintendo fans would've accepted it and we would've thought it as shitting on Iwata's legacy.

Pretty fitting considering the work he put in for Melee to be released on time.

It seems he had the worst case where even surivovrs get just 5 years to live at best. Some people linked an article some page ago. Also they explained that type of cancer just suck your life out of you because it prevent your body to get nutriments from food.

That's why Iwata lost so much weight it seems.

Damn, I really had no idea. Like I said, a friend of mine was the one who said it was treatable and all that. I was just commenting on it.

Overwhelming disbelief and heartbreak ;__;

He was one of a kind and I feel honored to have been alive at the same time as him. To have watched his presentations live, read his "Iwata Asks", listened to his many words of wisdom and laughed at his playful nature.

He was the epitome of what a president of a global company ought to be in my eyes, perhaps even the epitome of what a good person ought to be. I hope his legacy, in all these areas where he so excelled, lives on for many years to come.

Still don't get how he stood that strong and kept his duties until the very end. He really had a passion for his work.

His passion was beyond anything we can imagine. Amidst all of the sadness surrounding his death, I can say that I am truly grateful that a man like Satoru Iwata was able to live his dream to the absolute fullest. Very few are given the opportunity to turn their passion into a career and he did just that. That’s how he stood strong to the very end. Bringing entertainment and smiles to millions of people was his life.

RIP Mr. Iwata. Thanks for all the joy you brought.

He may not be with us anymore, but I believe he will still surprise us in many ways in the coming years with the things he has set in motion in recent years such as QOL and I'll look forward to what the future brings
