Sure it is. Buy complete SFC version for like 3 bucks, get cart patched, bust out tabs on snes, play game. See? Easy.

No it can be easier: buy cart for peanuts, wait for shipping, dump, patch, purchase $100 Everdrive from Ukraine, wait for shipping, put on flash cart, play!

I want a sequel to Dragon Quest Swords.

And I want it to be a Kinect game.

I don't see a Dragon Quest game ever making to the Xbox, unless Microsoft Games uses one of their studios to work on it. Also, it would poorly sell in Japan if not at all. Dragon Quest usually releases on the most popular platform of its time. That's why all DQ games in the PS2 era were mainly PS2 exclusive. That's also why we never got a mainline DQ last gen as Japanese were struggling to work on the PS3's Cell Processor. Maybe with PS4 being easier to work with, hopefully it will change how the mainline DQ games will be distributed in the future.

I've played 4-6 and 9 on DS and I'm playing 7 on PS1 right now, hyped for this.

I probably won't play 1-3 unless they get ported or until I become a collector or if I want to import the Wii collection. I also have the PS2 version of 5 but haven't played it yet. I know enough Japanese to get through games but would prefer English. Emulators are a no-no for me, something about them makes me uncomfortable.

I heard they're going with an educational slant with this game and that definitely points to it being on the Pico.

Really nice logo!
Hoping that tomorrow's reveal will be more than a teaser (and not CGI only too please), but will still be happy with that.
Will definitely be interesting to follow.

So at this point it looks like it could go either way.

The 3DS has a large fan base in Japan, guaranteeing large sales, but is weaker worldwide. The fact that DQX and the DVII (and VIII) remakes haven't been localized sort of shows a lesser interest for international sales.
The PS4 has lower numbers in Japan, but selling very well worldwide. If DQXI is timed to release after FFXV, then theres a more than decent chance Japanese PS4 numbers will be significantly higher.

I've only just played DQ 1 and 2 on GBC last year and I love this franchise and am super hyped for XI.

I should get around to playing the rest, now.

Sleep is for the weak and feeble mind, dig into III and plow through V, then set aside all affairs for 100+ hours of VII only to say "To Hell With Life" as you weigh the decisions of eating or playing another hour of VIII. Your body will be frail and boney and smell like a puss wart on a buttcheek, but you will find enjoyment of the highest caliber. Then and only then will you be ready for DQ XI

Yes.

Back in the 90s, there was also a medieval time traveling spin-off about Goku and Bulma when they were still kids called Chrono Trigger.

Eh, you might think of it as funny but the only reason I first got into Dragon Quest was because it looked like Dragon Ball. I mean, in Europe, especially in France, when DQVIII got released, that was the main appeal for the game.

Nah, SE just hates money. That's why Nintendo published Bravely Default.

Can anybody link me good dragon quest music? I'm really that familiar with the franchise but and in the games I've played I've always found the music kinda sucky. I'm just curious what fans consider the best music in the series is.

Yeah I'm almost certain that's why DQVIII did so well here in Europe. Dragon Ball is still insanely popular, especially on the mainland.

Could we see a ni no kuni type deal? A 3ds game and an almost entirely rebuilt console game, depending on how much square are putting into this game

Afaik dq8 was the first one ever released in France

Then Nintendo came along and released the nds games

Kind of like when Sony released FF7 in France and Nintendo finaly published FFL 1 2 3 on gb
(And yes DraQue had that weird "Toriyama" flair about it that made the SFC games super expensive in import game shops at Place de la République)

One high-profile game might sell better than one being split into two as a gimmick.

Ni no Kuni is actually a great example of this. They only released the PS3 version overseas with some pretty good, focused marketing and it was quite successful. We will probably get a sequel.

I'm making fun of Toriyama's designs looking very similar, but yes, that's obviously part of his appeal.

Eh, I always heard this place always was expensive for video games.

I got that part :p
It's like every DQ game has a Dragon Ball character as main character :p

Depends, I worked at some shops for a few years. Tons of stuff was dirt cheap but RPGs? Dragon ball games? Those were expensive (I worked for Amie LePro as their Amiga specialist)

You want the symphonic suites. Also the music is amazing, what games did you play?

YouTube the DQ8 overworld theme

If I was Nintendo, I would grant them the right to show first NX gameplay with the reveal trailer and have it say 2016.

NX success confirmed (I realize this won't happen but it would be crazy).

Want to try Ni No Kuni because of how beautiful it looks but keep hearing really negative things about the battle sytem.

The only problem I had with the battle system was the AI. But you can control characters if you need too...which you will.

I'll be fairly shocked if DQXI is anything other than PS3+PS4.

3DS would be my first choice, but I'll play it and love it regardless of the platform.

There will be plenty. There's aleady been tonnes of borderline meltdowns over the idea of DQXI being a PS4 game. God forbid what will happen if it becomes reality.
I've seen mostly sales-age arguments against it. Even from mods. And those are pretty sound tbh.

It's pretty much expected to be PS4 at this point though, plus PS3 for Japan and maybe a Vita curveball. The real meltdown here would be if it went to Nintendo or Microsoft platforms. Even the slim multiplat possibility, expect "3DS holding things back" to spring up all over if that happens.
