Yes, we care.
The Avalanche's game looks pretty good. The Phantom Pain is a masterpiece and that is the most negative point of Mad Max game launching 1st sept

That's... a lot of gameplay.

Any word on whether they will fix up that pop in/render distance while driving?

Really wish this was coming out this week... By the time i'm done with MGSV there won't be long until Just Cause 3.

May pick this up at some point though.

I watched some of this. Some of the things they're saying have me scratching my head.

"The design must serve the mechanics" and "this game has been development for more than a year, right?"

Such a shame that it comes out same day as MGS. Kind of super unfair for it.

I don't even know when i'll be able to play this game. Between MGS V, Fallout 4, and Just Cause 3.... there is a LOT of game to play.

Anybody care?

I most definitely care, quite a few people do to be honest. 9/1 will be an excellent day in a LONG time. Cannot wait! I think they did an excellent job capturing what the world of Mad Max looks like, and that harpoon gun looks so much fun! Thanks for sharing this video OP! Soooo glad I took some time off that week! :D

just picked this up for $36 on Greenman. Hoping I get to preload as it looks like this is going to release in one week and 22 hours vs one week, one day and 11 hours for MGS V (with no pre load) according to the Steam store pages.

Boy, those Green Man prices are insane.

Watched that video earlier today twice. Really pumped and excited for the game. While im getting MGSV too, September 1st is all about Mad Max for me. Brutal melee combat, great car combat, exploration, survival and resource management plus RPG elements and a story that outside of the beginning is it's own story.

Hopefully, those who are reviewing Mad Max actually want to play and review the game and aren't just zooming through it or not interested in it because that would be a shame and not fair to the game or the developer Avalanche Studios.

Bad release date but the Fury Road movie comes out on Blu Ray/DVD the same day so it makes sense as the game can be marketed next to the movie.

For me, September 1st is going to be a MAD!!!!! day. :)

I'm actually getting quite excited to try Mad Max. The Arkham'esque combat looks entertaining. It's probably not as thorough as the Arkham games, but I'm in the camp that doesn't care too much about Batman's numerous gadgets. I just want to dish out some punches. I'm a bit worried about the monotonous nature of roaming a desert. I hope there are enough weird landmarks and buildings to spice the world up.

Any idea why the PC price is so low? I can find Steam download codes for around $22. And that's on legit sites. Could it be to combat MGS5 sales?

Picked it up for $36.

Looks awesome. Avalanche games are just big giant sand boxes that are a blast to play.

The environments and storms look awesome.

I just watched this earlier, I think it looks pretty neat. Actually have it pre-ordered with Phantom Pain.

Not sure it'll be worth the $60, but oh well. I'm always up for something post-apocalyptic and for some reason just driving around in the car looks fun enough.

Mad max has always one of my favourite worlds created - I'm definitely looking forward to this! thanks OP.

side note - I'd love to see a waterworld game. That could work!

Hopefully this WB PC release is of Mordor quality, and not batman..

Love the style and the car gameplay but looking at that map with its dozens of same-y sidestuff icons ... man, I just can't do it anymore. I just can't take the AC approach to game-design anymore. It's just too formulaic, too bloated and most importantly it all feels meaningless.

Is this a Ubisoft game?

Nope. But the Just Cause games have a very similar formula.

I'd hope they've learned since then. I wouldnt hold them to a fire for Ubi's shitty design practices. JC3 looks to be a bigger better version of itself and I'm excited for that one too.

It's overwhelming to some sure, to see so many options and choices but they are just that. Options and choices and not requirements. Sounds like people are just getting burnt out on open world design in general and should take a break from the genre.

Agreed.

I would prefer they just don't clutter up the map but force you to explore the wasteland and organically encounter extremely well done and written side missions instead of fulling the entire map with garbage things like take down outposts, etc.

Make a smaller map, fill it with interesting things to see and do and focus on some compelling side missions with memorable stories/characters.

That sand storm was very impressive. But to me this feels like another Shadow of Mordor. Solid open world game but in the end it's just another ubisoft like mini quests and collectables. This is not hyping me really.

"Better", sure I'm down with that. But "more" and "bigger" are reasons for concern these days. How can you possibly fill these worlds with interesting and engaging stuff? In the end it'll just be an even bigger map littered with the same "take down the outposts" and "find the resources" activities.

I've decided that I don't want to spend my time playing videogames with those type of games anymore. They've increasingly felt like a waste of time and at times they even felt like work (Hi, AC games!).

Definitely. It's not easy though when many of your favorite gaming series go open-world suddenly. I'm currently burned out from the Witcher 3's open world and I have yet to finish the game. I probably don't even have it in me to play MGS5 right now despite being a fan of that series. Then there's Mad Max, which I thematically love; also Fallout 4 at the end of the year. At best I'll be able to play one of these games, maybe none. The task is just too daunting and too time-consuming.

In the end it comes down to whether the game gives me back an experience interesting and fulfilling enough for the time it consumes or whether it's just a huge time-sink that I just want to be done with halfway through. Right now it seems that MGS5 might be the game that gives back the most in exchange for my time.

I think that's why Sleeping Dogs and to a lesser extent Sunset Overdrive were so successful as they were smaller but more concentrated. You had to work to get Wei Shen upgraded and the side missions were fun and not (always) generic.

I think that JC2 allows this organic exploration too and is the biggest OW game to do it, but games where it's just desert (Red Faction, RDR) just don't appeal, in fact (controversial opinion incoming) RDR was REALLY boring to me .

I hope MM is not the same, I've got this on pre-order, but all that desert and sand? *shudder*.

Spoilers incoming, do not highlight if you don't want to know about the locations in this game:

There's a ton of desert and sand in Mad Max The Videogame developed by Avalanche Studios published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment [/spoler]

Looks amazing, but I only watched a couple minutes here and there. Looks just as good every time they show it IMO. I managed to scrape together enough cash for this and Phantom Pain somehow, so...

Bring it.
And please don't be mediocre :(
