It's still BB in MG2 so all that stuff with him being a monster and the his crazy plan for perputual war is still there.

So what's the deal with Venom, does he just keep doing as BB says until he gets betrayed one final time? Does he go rogue, hard to believe he would be able to pull it off when there should be no one on his side once the truth comes out and his men are all dead.

eh would've preferred BB shooting him in the head at the end.

Yeah people need to remember what they have been actually loving about these games.
This Spoiler thread about the story barely covers anything i actually am looking forward to in this game and that is kidnapping animals and replacing animal models with Big Bosses model on the PC.

To be honest the more I think about this, the more I like it, and I really feel like this will be a thing in time, or after playing the game, people will get over their kneejerk reaction.
I always thought the concept of Big Boss sending Snake to kill....Big Boss was kind of weird anyway.

How does it throw the theme of "revenge and path to evil" away, considering he just ruined a man's life and killed a bunch of soldiers just to fool Zero and Skullface? You guys are focused on the who and not the how.

And now, if anything, the revenge is placed on the shoulders of Me- I mean Not!BigBoss.

Once again, you can call the plot shit and all that, but it's not like it's not addressing the themes common to the series.

True. It does answer that.

It does mean that...Ocelot basically knew that Zero had made up with Big Boss thirty years before MGS4, so his war with the Patriots, even if he was pretending to be Liquid to "fool" the AIs...was...pointless? Eugh, whatever :p Best not to think about it too much.

Well I do like that it clears up Big Boss being a dumbass who underestimated his clone, he should know what a younger version of himself is capable of. A smart man would've sent a nobody.

I thought I'd lost my fucking mind. Seriously though, if what thabto or whatever he's called source is legit and speaks the truth then Kojima is dead to me. Why ruin a perfectly good game and established lore? Why couldn't he have just told the original story the way it was already for the past 20 something fucked up years?

He could have just stuck with the body double theory and went with that until the point of establishing OH, he really just ruined the game and fucked Big Boss's character right up. He knows what he's done, no wonder he got sacked for fuck sake.

Well Zero's world isn't the world Big Boss wanted, even if Zero may not have been quite the villain we thought, he still put in a pretty messed up system.
But it does explain why BB's DNA was the one true key to accessing the AI and gaining control, which I originally found kind of weird since we were lead to think they were such bitter enemies.

According to the spoilers, Zero knew all along.

We were supposed to watch the downfall of a man that led to him forming not one but two military nations in pursuit of his dream. We've been told in previous games that it was this man. Now it's suddenly someone else who happened to not only look like him, but sound just like him, think just like him and have nearly every last one of his abilities.

It's not comparable to the faux-S3 Plan in MGS2. That was for individual and unique men becoming soldiers comparable to Solid Snake through what amounts to mental conditioning and situational exposure. Not physically being Solid Snake.

He was very close.

The part with Quiet turned out to be true. And he even said she was put on fire and jumps out of the window, which is exactly what happens. The difference is that he said Kid Mantis did that. But this could've been changed.

I don't think Quiet in hospital trying to kill Venom and being set on fire has been shown in trailers.

No no I got it, Zero sent the squad to kill everyone except Big Boss because he loves Big Boss that much and wanted to show it.

If we're gonna talk inconsistencies, the biggest one so far is that Quiet, a soldier, is worried about people seeing her face, yet isn't wearing a mask of any kind during the hospital segment. :|

You get to play Solid Snake for two and a half games (MGS1, MGS4, half of 2)
You get to play Big Boss for two and a half games (MGS3, PW, GZ)

You'd think after he defeats SF, BB would end up killing VS and continue Outer Heaven.

I'm 100% convinced that Kojima has done this to sabotage Konami from carrying the series forward, that I'm not complaining about because after this the series is dead anyway.
Why fuck over the fans though? Why create this peice of shit storyline? There was literally NO NEED to do this, he already had the lore established, he only had to create a game showing us the story he'd already laid out. He has blatantly deceived fans for the sole purpose of fucking Konami over.
Fuck that man, I hope his wife took a shit in his birthday cake yesterday.

The guy is another Peter Molyneux, hypes things up so much, the whole world trembles when it all falls apart.
