Dark Soul Progress Update :

Pinwheel - This is seriously a 'boss'? One Great Heavy Soul Arrow. Rekt.

My opinion since day 1 has been that Pinwheel is supposed to be done much much earlier in the game than it's usually beaten, but the Catacombs are way too hard for a new player to do that.
I don't think it's just your opinion.
It's not a coincidence that the on the official soundtrack, Pinwheel is track 5, slotted in between Gargoyles and Gaping Dragon. Otherwise the track order is pretty consistent with how the final game progresses.
It's also probably not a coincidence that he becomes a regular enemy almost immediately after the boss fight. It would make more sense if he had been an earlier boss, since other early bosses have that too.

Eh. If a bland-looking F2P MMO is not gonna be cross-Steam-WinStore then all hope for QB,GoW and future stuff can be abandoned.

Phil, you suck.
Man, I was doing the daily challenge in Crypt of the Necrodancer, and I made it to the last floor before the final boss (
well the first of two bosses anyway
). I had tons of health, an obsidian longsword, and a decent set of equipment, so I was pretty set to beat the game. And then I accidentally bumped the R1 button, which for some reason was bound to quick restart (not sure if I did that or if it was default).

Well shit. I understand it would defeat the point of a quick restart, but I would have killed to have an "Are you sure?" prompt just then. Needless to say, I immediately rebound the key, and closed the program.

At least I manage to beat the daily challenge yesterday.
I watched a bit gameplay some time ago and while it does look one of those games where you have to repeat levels often, doing this quickly with a button-press is neat. But without any confirmation beforehand? Not ideal.
He is right. There's almost AppStore levels of shovelware on the store. Valve should either enforce some kind of early-Nintendo-esque seal-of-quality thing or just make a sub-store for the many shovelware-y games.
This is the kind of stuff VR will shine on. Just copy-pasting existing game "types" will not be optimal. This new tech needs a lot more thought put into game design than just free-look. Looks really cool.
And here I am, haven't even played the first one.. time is scarce :/

This kind of mindset is part of a problem.
All steam (about 6K) games doesn't even make one month worth of mobile games.

Other problem is ignoring greenlight, or upvoting games for free copies or joke upvoting. Community decides what comes to steam from less known devs, meaning you too. So if it's shovelware you have nobody to blame.

Fable Legends not releasing on Steam doesn't necessarily mean anything for Gears.
One is f2p, one is not.

Very curious about Killer Instinct though, that's f2p with rotating free character on Xbone, right?

Makes sense, but youarealreadydead if you end up going there earlier than the story progresses. No Divine weapons for the shitty skeletons and the yellow fog gate if you don't have the Lordvessel placed.

I am slightly surprised there wasn't a intro vid for Gwyn. You basically go through the gate and he bum rushes you. Near the end most of the bosses have intro vids (Nito, Pinwheel, Crystal Dragon guy, etc.). Makes the whole encounter anti climatic.

Also, shitty that beating Gwyn goes right to NG+. Guess I'm not doing the DLC on this play through.

I played some of The Swapper last night.

so it's a puzzle focused metroid-like? I gotta say, there were a couple of rooms that left me wondering if I was just too stupid to figure them out lol

It's somewhat open in design, but that's pretty much all it shares with Metroid. You'll never come across a puzzle that's currently unsolvable, although some of them certainly felt that way at first.

Best puzzle game I've played in a long, long time. Really takes the basic concept and does some really interesting things with it.

I'm hoping that that doesn't mean we won't be getting indie "exclusives" on steam, like ashen.

Right now MS are more concerned with making Window 10 palatable to users still on older version for whatever reasons. There concern is getting users on the platform so that developers can see the Windows Store as a worthwhile thing to support with their content. Give it a few years and MS will start to push everything behind their own store as they try to push it to PC gaming folk. I wouldn't be surprised if they follow their old ways eventually and force certain titles to be available through their own store over others or have "timed exclusivity" and other shite
