NX Controller Rumor [Up5: Original was fake, and thus this is too]

haptic feedback magic, man

any haptic feedback good enough to replace real buttons, light years ahead of anything in a smartphone, would be so unreasonably expensive you might as well put buttons on the damn thing and leave the middle part of the screen to have whatever haptic stuff you want

They had me for a second there when the new pictures first dropped. Then it occurred to me that no one ever showed it working and the confidential property sticker was extremely suspicpious and was obviously printed on a cheap dymo label writer

The lack of moire was the giveaway.
Not obvious enough for you to be #teamfake though hey.
I never hashtagged, but I made my thoughts clear in the first thread.

Even though Sony and Microsoft outsell Nintendo always and are more relevant in the mainstream, nothing generates views, clicks, hits, posts, speculation and rumors like Nintendo products. Awesome thread.

;)

Sony and MS are fighting Nintendo for the most thread pages based on rumors these days.

Between this fake and the XBO.5 and PS4.5 threads...

That original was confirmed as a fake? Who the hell put it together then? That's a new high-mark for a fake.
Frankly, other than a video, I'm not sure how it could look more real.

Wait, where's the proof this is fake? It's not in op.

The guy who leaked it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpkA2MPgmAg

He speculates that another guy got the 3D model specs he gave to a friend and proceeded to 3D print the newer black version for giggles.

Please note at this point in time there are 2 threads saying the leaks are already fake.

A resounding yeah is traditional controller and mid to high end specs. That's it. Even VR has it's naysayers (including me), but I can see the appeal to some, especially younger generations who get it and adapt more to tech than we all do. We're an aging demographic, the estimate average player is 35, 2004 it was 29. People buying in are the same people who have been playing for 13+ years, the same old people.

I don't think any Nintendo information would be initially met with a resounding "Yeah!" by core fans unless they either released a dual analog based ps4 clone that would assuredly bomb in the marketplace, or go third party.

They are between a rock and a hard place.

All this is true, and I certainly don't think they can please everyone, but there are still things they can do.

A nice price point doesn't need people to come up with crazy theories or excuses. A strong launch line up won't lead to too much badmouthing (but I'm aware some people are never happy). Solid, modern OS features will be met with "Well, took you long enough" at worst and "Yes, finally!" from others.

Those enough wouldn't turn the tides in their public perception, but it's a start. Yes, there would still need to be a big, new feature that would get people talking but I'm sure Nintendo can do something with obvious, significant appeal. I just don't want another situation in 2018 where Nintendo says "Too bad we couldn't produce the software that convince people playing games with their tongues wasn't life changing. We'll work to make that happen in the future".

All that's left is we get a rumor thread about Nvidia switching to a generations model of GPU releases and GAF will fall into a rift in space-time.

I can't be mad, brilliant troll, wow. lol

I am slightly confused at this revelation, but I will keep my previous comments intact.

I missed the Zelda vine the first time around, so I don't know if it has already been mentioned but can someone please tell me where that footage is from? Is it from Zelda U? Skyward Sword? Made up?

It was from very early Zelda U footage that Aonuma and Miyamoto showed during that one Game Awards.

I can agree. The OS needs major work and brought up to speed with others, their accounts need some reworking too. I know they do have accounts, it's just flawed right now and I hope the DeNA partnership really pays off in the long run towards a better account system. We know cloud storage is in the works too for My Nintendo which is good too.

A good line-up is a must and finding a good low price point is something they need too for a lower barrier of entry. 3DS was a mistake to release at the price point it did as no one bought in and hopefully they find away to keep things low. Hopefully they go back to low prices like previous generations.

In hindsight, it makes sense that it was fake. Leaks of this magnitude never happen for Nintendo consoles. They're masters at keeping things under wraps.

I mean, I tend to expect the best out of Alberto, but the fact that he spoke up about being told the first photo was real only after the second set appeared along with tweets by McNamara is suspect.

Did he say they were real or was similar to what he heard?

Because if similar, of course its gonna be similar to the real NX controller since the fake is 100% based off the patent, which the real controller will be based off of but it wont be 100% like the fake.

Oh neat

Means we'll actually get surprised by the official reveal this e3 instead! :D
(unless someone fucks up a few weeks before)

Yeah, it'll have grips.

Trev aka SuperMetalDave is our best and most trustworthy with his source. He said NX is coming this year and Zelda U is coming to NX also.
Was our best source. He's done now. Nintendo most likely fired his source and served him some mighty legal threats. He's dead.

Well, that was fun while it lasted. I can't eat crow because I was on the 'wait and see' side of things.

But there's still Andy McNamara's tweets about his own source telling him that the NX controller doesn't have face buttons, so...

At least when I thought this might be real I could know what NX is.

Now it's back to the uncertainty which means it could be better, or much worse. There's still the chance that this fake is based off some real info about the controller, and we take a sigh of relief only to get super disappointed.

What if the controller/handheld is a button-less a free form touch screen display. But the docking station to transform display to the console controller with buttons and analog sticks, etc. But there is a separate dock available for purchase that changes the controller screen to a stand alone handheld that has supplemental soc to boost resources and a built card reader to take games on the go They could sell the display with a premium handheld dock with added features (on board storage, blue tooth, etc) over the ones included with the console for those that just want the handheld nx. We've assumed that a docking station would be to make the handheld a makeshift console but what if the opposite to make the base controller a makeshift portable?

I'm so depressed now.

We all shared something in this thread. We laughed, we cried, we argued.

Now it's all gone, I mean what is even the point anymore.

People are saying it had no buttons...the fake had buttons and sticks just no *face* buttons. I thought it was "out there" but not impossibly impractical depending on what the full feature-set would be. I was doubtful that it was real but I thought the freakouts were way over-the-top. The thing is, provided that Nintendo doesn't just clone the PS4 and Dual Shock, I bet the real NX reveal thread will be a lot like this one. ;)
