Is there ever a good reason to beat somebody up if that person did not do anything physical to you or anybody else and what would that reason be?

The short answer is "yes."

I'm a firm believer in freedom of speech but I also believe that there are comments worthy of a violent reaction.

If they purchased a smartphone from a manufacturer that I don't personally like, I think that's fair game.

If beating said person up saved a life and that was the only way to save a life

Doubtful such a thing would come up often though

Just being a general dick, but like a dick 99% of the time. Had a guy in my shop class be a total jerk, basically a bully. I probably lasted 8 months before I decked him when the teacher left the classroom, the guy stopped being a douche right then and there.

So I guess when guys are annoying as fuck and don't listen to warnings after a few months.

If someone punches their kid in front of me they're getting dropped.

To 'beat someone up' suggests physically attacking them until they're incapacitated. Unless someone is a relentless threat otherwise, I can't see a situation where beating them up is appropriate.

I really don't know. I feel like I should say no their isn't, but I've had moments in life where someone has said really disrespectful things towards me, to which I've gotten me really angry and almost resulted in a physical conflict, I don't know why.

I don't believe so. People should protect themselves, but if you are in a dominant enough position to "beat somebody up" then I believe you are abusing your power over someone else.

Probably not. I wouldn't be upset over someone who said some really, really fucked up shit getting man-slapped but seeing as how any contact is still technically assault, it's better left as a fantasy.

Plus you should have enough self control to ignore. If some guy running his mouth causes you to react uncontrollably, or even beat their ass under control, that probably means you're more sensitive than tough.

If you're a combat athlete and it's part of your job? Like within the ring, octagon, etc. consenting parties.

Sexual harassment and lewd behavior especially when directed at children is worthy of a full on ass whooping. Hate speech is also in this category.
