Same here. The basic female character in Bloodborne is better than anything you can make in DS3. Tried to make Lady Mary and could, just barely.

Speaking of which, I am on my NG++ on DS3 and farming the Platinum achievement is really hard. But are going to do it regardless before going back to BB since BB is the far superior product in every way. And the DLC is way harder as well than DS3 as well.

Actually Bloodborne is the only game where I made so many male characters and only one female, because for once the face creator is good and I could make some great characters and even cosplays.
In Souls games I usually make female characters because I could never make male faces look right.

So, here's the character of my first playthrough. Say hi to Bruce!

Hail to the King!
Nice! But you should be using the whirligig saw, come on! That's the closest thing to a chainsaw you're gonna get. :)

thanks, any other gaffer free, I feel we need 3 for this

want to attempt it as 2 while we wait for a third?

thanks that just leaves kos and his area to clear

Holy shit I just realized I had 2 eye and 1 clawmark as runes. In other words, I didn't have any useful rune.
That was a close call but we made it!

Are you in NG+? He had a lot of health.

Thanks for the compliments, guys :) Makes me happy. Actually I tried to make Samuel L. Jackson and failed so hard that I just had to change skin tone, haircut and chin to achieve this, haha!

That whirlgig saw looks awesome ...I haven't found that :O I hope it isn't a DLC weapon because I don't have that yet. ;(

You should get The Old Hunters, is amazing and adds a ton of new weapons to the game (yes, whirlgig saw is from the DLC and they added more fun weapons to use as well), more epic bosses, more lore, is more difficult... so good.

Believe me, the only reason I don't own it yet is the lack of internet and money at the moment.

Turns out you can get blood rocks from layer 3 depth 5 bosses. This was just the vanilla Loran Darkest in the pre-set Lower Loran dungeon. I was doing random co-op helping @ 430 item discovery.

I am finding this to be a really fun 99 Arcane build:

Hunter tools destroy bosses and scale really well all the way up to 99 Arcane. And fire/bolt/arcane modified Saw Cleavers and Saw Spears do massive damage... plus Kos Parasite.

So I explored Cathedral Ward; great area btw. But now I'm at a cross roads. Up a large set of stairs there's a large door (which clearly is a boss fight) but to the left and right are two other areas. One is a forest of sorts through a cave, the other is a chapel with a hunter waiting for me.

Without spoiling; where should I go?

Also in the south area of Cathedral Ward there's a locked door where someone asks a password. Where do I get this password?

You get the password from beating the boss up the large set of stairs. The boss up the large set of stairs is the next main one you need to defeat. To the right in the woods area is an optional boss that gives you a really nice thing that you can use. You can't progress far past the the area with the hunters until later on...

Yeah, that boss is what you can do next to advance. But...From the chapel starting point have you taken the side-exit? There you have the choice of going right and left. Taking the left path will take you to another cool area you could do as well. The forst through that cave is nice as well, you may do as you please. I didn't defeat that boss in the grand cathedral for a while and went to the other areas first.

Awesome. I'd rather explore more than do another boss fight.

I think I am going to start a new character and rush to the DLC to try and do a beast cutter run. Weapon seemed cool, but I was so invested in Ludwig's by the time I got to it I never used it.

Whenever I get summoned to help with Defiled Amy I know there is like at least an 80% chance that the host is gonna get killed. So easy to be one shot at full health. Or on the Defiled Watchdog the host doesn't know about the dogs AoE move that is also a OHK and then your sent back to your world. Or on Loran BSB the host will get grabbed and OHK from the residue poison.

The coop scales pretty bad for the host in Defiled, when I got summoned and see other summon the host will probably die in one hit 90% of the time

Made it to what I'm assuming is the final boss. Tried 3 times, almost had him on the last one but when I run out of bullets he destroys me, I feel helpless without being able to parry in this fight.

How does everyone feel about the gems? Are they something people would want returning in a sequel? Though they are kind of a pain, I'd be kind of cool with them. Be neat if they had some more variety in effects. It would be neat if bosses could drop gems(like boss souls but not) so we could get some lore on them. I always wonder about the cleric beast and what kind of porn he was watching to get that arm so big.

I wish they just went full japanese crafting system with gems

Gem fusion - choose two gems. Secondary gem gets sacrificed, and you select which traits to pass to the primary. They can put in whatever restrictions they like (e.g. Cursed needs to have at least 1 curse, only one "main" trait, some traits not stackable, etc)

That way you can still have some reasonable chalice running/farming, but eliminates the need and compulsion for farming perfect gems with traits a AND b AND c. At least PvP everyone who has invested a certain reasonable time in the game (40 hrs) will be running around with the same stuff

Do you have umbilical cords? If so, eat 3 of them before the fight begins. I won't tell you what that does. I won't
actually help you,
though. ;D

The trick is to jump towards him (a little to the side too) when he attacks, that way you will land on his back and it will be you the one who destroys him. I did it this way.

Are cold abyssals (+65 arcane scaling) blood gems a bug? They seem ridiculously overpowered compared to every other gem in the game. And they apparently got a huge buff after the last and final patch.

Isn't that a flat damage? % scaling never goes that high.

No it's scaling. They are crazy OP on a weapon for a 50+ Arcane build. You can make any starter weapon have a S scaling in Arcane. OP for Fire/Bolt/Arcane damage.

They just showed up after patch 1.08 or maybe a slightly earlier patch, but I read that they weren't in the original game or the early patches.

I just got one last night. For example:

http://www.bloodborne-wiki.com/2015/10/best-blood-gems-setups.html

Fire Setup (Lost Weapons) UPDATE: Post Patch v1.08
Cold Radial 20 Arc scaling +65 + 2nd stat Dropped by Pthumerian Elder kkvk8gsj, F/R/C Ihyll L3
Cold Triangle 20 Arc scaling +65 + 15 fire Dropped by Isz Elder e2ts7vub, -/-/C Isz Gravestone L4
Fire Waning 20 24.8% fire + 15 fire Dropped by Watchdog of the Old Lords boss 758v8txa, F/R/C Lower Loran L3

Oh I didn't know that they fixed the scaling gems :O They used to be crap.
I must give it a try then.

Well, arcane stat was crap if you dont fully focus on high tier arcane gems compared to str.

Buffed gems would make the end game stuff a piece of cake when did that happen?

According to this it happened in Patch 1.07 even though it wasn't in the patch notes.

A Word on Scaling Gems
I keep getting asked about these, because they are noticeably missing from all of my guides. As of 1.07, and currently in 1.09 Cold gems from Pthumerian Elder, which once gave up to +22.5 ARC Scaling, now give up to +65. Many people are excited about this, and quite understandably so, as it makes them best-in-slot for two of your gems in nearly all circumstances (Kos Parasite is a notable exception). For the 3rd slot, simply use a powerful percentage gem from one of the lists above.
However, it's my opinion that this absurd increase in power is the result of a bug. Here's why:
Only Cursed Cold gems that can drop from Depth 5 Pthumerian Elder, and Cursed Heavy gems that can drop from Headless Bloodletting Beast were increased.
Heavy Gems from Watchers, Cold gems from anyone but Elder, and all Sharp gems are unaffected.
Elder's gems should give less Scaling than Headless BLB's, due to having a secondary effect and reduced Curses. Prior to 1.07 they did (22.5 vs 24.8), but with this glitch they do not. Both give up to +65.
Both of these gems have secondary bonuses, which for every other gem means their values should be lower than the corresponding Watcher gem, even comparing rating 20 to rating 19, but this is not the case. No other gems are like this.
Because of these glaring inconsistencies, and chiefly the fact that only these two sources, and only the Cursed gems rating 18, 19, and 20 are affected, leads me to the conclusion that buffing scaling gems was not an intended result of the patch. If that were the case, why would so few have been buffed?

Even if it is a bug, it's highly unlikely that Bloodborne is ever getting another patch so it's just gonna be like that...

... you have to get to layer 3 (for radial or waining) or layer 4 (for triangle) of specific F/R/C dungeons and then save scum the boss to get them though. If you have the right build you can get there in like under ten minutes though. If you have high item discovery and you don't care too much about which curse you get then it doesn't take too long to get one or two of them. The least penalizing curses are the most rare though so going for those can potentially take a lot longer.

Towards the end of the game there seems to be a great grinding spot between
Mergo's Loft middle and the Wet Nurse.
It only takes a couple of minutes and nets around 45k echoes plus a good amount of blood vials.
The dudes with swords are very easy to parry, the pigs hit hard but are easy to dodge and the first is wide open for a visceral.
Gherman
is still wrecking me.

They're really good, yeah. Pretty sure they were made more powerful with the latest patch.

Here's a sample on the LHB

I've since found better setups with a lower level character. Also recently found radial 27.2% bolt and fire gems from the watchers, which I thought didn't exist. A cursed cold abyssal radial would still be a better gem over a 27.2% fire/bolt gem on a lost weapon.

Yeah I also met a player who has this setup on gfaqs

They also made a perfect uncanny kos parasite. Took lots of farming.

Such as? I got kidnapped by the sack dudes and I haven't explored that whole new area in full yet. Also ran into Darkbeast and got wrecked.

Depending on your level you can do the first one and then the first hindertomb one. After that you get under leveled for the next ones until later.

Has anyone here done an SL4 run including all of the chalice dungeons? Is it fun or just tedious

I recently did. Not delving into ng+6 or anything like that, I felt the chalice dungeons and DLC were hard enough. It's pretty different. There's always room for mistakes, but pretty much all bosses have to be flawless. You're pretty much forced to learn them front and back by trying to beat them multiple times and playing it a lot more safe. Videos showing how to beat a boss at bl4 are the best to watch.

With bosses like the chalice dungeon version of Paarl, rng comes into play for sure. Bosses like these can be docile or crazy as all shit.

It took me over a year, and more tries than any other boss, but I finally managed to beat Pthumerian Descendant of Ihyll chalice without co-op help. Feels good, man. On one of the preceding tries, I managed to perfectly parry him two times in a row, and do a charged backstab while he was entering the second phase, but was killed when he had only a sliver of health left. It was pretty close during the final round as well.

Here's a video of it:

I was really hoping for a Bloodborne 2 tease at this year's E3. Are there any other major events this year where they could presumably announce this?

So I beat
Gehrman
and the game ended and dumped me right in NG+. I bought the dlc but was saving it for post-game, guess I'm stuck doing it on NG+.
