Why did HCS drop breakout? I didn't play it much but it seems pretty competitive, also reminds me a bit of Counterstrike with the round based system that's super heavy on tactics and positioning.

Every game is super heavy on tactics and positioning.
Except they are not as they are all ranked and the maps constantly cater to pro-gamers.there were "non-mlg" modes like FFA, SWAT, Breakout and Slayer

I was referring that it was closer to counter strike in term of tactics and positioning, don't feel offended.
Breakout was no more tactical or requiring of good position than Slayer or Strongholds.
High level breakout is a game of camping and see who is less patient. It is super boring to both play and watch. Low TTK and no respawn does not fit Halo's core competitive ruleset.

I see, but I feel that's a problem that could have been rectified by giving the attackers an incentive to press the offensive. Certainly something salvageable.

They share literally nothing other than being round based. Like, at all.
The risk of attacking is way, way too high with best of 9 formats. In CS it's best of 30 and you have economy into the mix plus it is 5v5.
Since Halo 3... so basically just better than Halo 4?

SOOOOOOO glad they wasted time on that mode.
I really hope H6 multiplayer acts just as an expansion to H5's. It's too good to risk losing.

Played a handful of matches back at launch, but for whatever reason, dropped it. Never did that with a halo before..
I can't believe that. Halo 3 sold 15 million copies, and was the #1 most played game on XBL from 2007-2009 when MW2 came out.
There's no way a game with not even 1/3 of the sales can have a higher Active Players than Halo 3 at the same point in time. (May 2008)
EDIT: Wait, since Halo 3 means it's excluding Halo 3.
I believe it. Reach and Halo 4 were pathetic in terms of Player Population after launch. Good job on fixing a problem you created 343...

i wonder how many play breakout? that mode was really hyped up before launch but i dont hear much about it. i also think its trash personally.
Just fix the Firefight respawn time. Infuriating.
