Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

So how long will it take before they add gen 2 Pokémons?

At the end of this summer?
At the end of this year?
Never?

Because it's al very fun right now, but I can believe that within three to four weeks if you don't have any new Pokémon added the hype will die
Well if they add trading and pvp I think they should be good for a while

I would think that will become an annual thing every summer from now on. Great way to capture attention when the kids are on school-vacation and otherwise quiet summer-months in gaming. I'm expecting a couple of features (like trading) before that happens.

Pretty accurate tbh. Love it.

Found my city's Scyther hideout and scooped up 5 of those guys today! He might be the Linkin Park of Pokemon, but he's still my favorite. Now to go camp out for a couple of Bulbasaurs. The local Facebook group seems to have mapped out where all of the Squirtles and Charmanders can be found, but Bulbasaurs are still proving hard to come by ={

What's the meta look like where you guys are? In Phoenix (where it's pretty fucking hot, in case you weren't aware), seemingly every person's highest CP is an Arcanine. Vaporeon is also really prominent because it wipes out all of the fire pokemon around here. Is this the case in other places or just because I live in a dust bowl desert trash can?

There's what 6 gens so far to go through? No way will they take a year between each one, I'd imagine xmas or before for the next one one

Yearly

So you really think they'll wait to add gen 2 until the summer of 2017? It would suck incredibly if that really is the case. I would guess interest would be very low in a couple of months if they don't add new Pokémon

This morning I got sent a data dump for the game. Seems there's IVs (Individual Values, sort of akin to genetics if you're not aware of standard Pokémon fare) in the game, there is a max CP level for each Pokémon.
You can only go up to an absolute maximum of 40 "levels" of a Pokémon (but most will be a lot less since they start higher).
STAB is in the game at *1.2 rather than the main game's *1.5, so if you have a Pokémon with a move that matches its type, it's definitely a better option to use for a gym battle.

Currently got a few friends trying to properly decode the data and will put some full lists up on my site at some point. The systems are surprisingly complex considering how simple the gameplay is.

Wow they actually have IVs in this game? That's interesting.

I'm going to go out on a limb here: Gen II and IV don't have enough new pokemon to warrent a full release, and maybe they do II and IV in the winter and save big updates like III and V for the summers

It is interesting, but also if they don't have a way to determine it with relative ease shortly after capture it might be slightly scummy in a F2P game

You'd need a lot of reverse engineering to find it. You can't even see the Attack and Defense stats in the game and you'd need that to try and calculate the IV

Just started playing this. From what I understand the "Nearby" section is bugged (right?) since it's always displaying 3 feet for me for everything. That being said, do you all really just walk around hoping a Pokemon comes up? An outline of Pikachu came up for me and I really had no guidance to where I could find it.

The issues causing the server problems have been identified. Trainers should once again be able to search for Pokémon in the real world.

Nearby section is speculated (by Vic and others) to have been turned-off on purpose as it's not gameplay critical and helps ease the server-load. Seems very likely since it's universal that it has not been working since about Thursday.

It makes Pokéhunting a lot less fun and especially difficult though :(

Can't believe the 3 step bug is still going on, have they even mentioned they are working on it?.

I'd say being able to track Pokémon is pretty dam critical in a game about tracking and catching Pokémon.

yeah the tracking was kinda crappy, but was manageable with the 3, 2, 1 steps, but now with everything it 3 steps it is literally pointless to try and find something that shows on it right. I'm personally probably done for awhile til they fix it.

Btw, about hatching eggs; game doesn't register the steps I've taken that well though. You walk 500 meters and the app only registers 100...

Level 19 now and my pokemon CPs are really poor vs others I see. My strongest is still the 873 Hypno I evolved on the 3rd day of playing... got 50k pixiedust but not really got anything worth blowing it on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

oh, nearly time for OT2
