That's why a win or two in the NPD means nothing in the big picture there is a whole world outside US where Xbone is even losing to WiiU

Most people know that I would assume. The story was that XB1 actually won an NPD. Nobody would write a story about the sun rising tomorrow, but imagine the headlines if the sun didn't rise tomorrow.

Crazy how small that market is compared to the us.

That's like a December npd and its life to date lol

How many people live in Germany?

Any day now.

Germany was Tier1 country, and Xbox One launched with Fifa bundle there [with even free Fifa games being thrown in other bundles]. It did not help.

How many people live in Germany?

Germany has ~4 times smaller population. Also, PC industry is strong there [with genres that are not as popular in the US].

Neo confirmed for this year.

BTW how close these PS4 numbers are to UK? Really curious.

PS4 sold over 3 million in UK in January 2016, while PS4 was at 2.8 million (or 2.79m?) by end of December 2015.

Now we know PS4 is at 3.25 million... UK should be easy over, but is close.

after that, Germany said "No thanks" and MS said "well fuck off"

basically what happened with the WiiU after 3D world and Splatoon

Year to date in 2016:
[PS4] 460,000
[XB1] 105,000

I wonder how much will PS4 sell there until the end of the year. Important factors:

- base PS4 pricedrop
- introduction of Neo
- introduction of PSVR and its large library of exclusives
- GT Sport [Germany looooooves GT]
- The Last Guardian
- popular holiday multiplatform titles that will sell best on PS4 [Infinite Warfare, Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, Final Fantasy XV, Fifa 17, Watch Dogs 2]

Yeah, it's not like that was only announced a couple of months ago...

Ryse, Dead Rising 3, State of Decay, Quantum Break, Crackdown 3, D4, Killer Instinct and Ori were either already ported to PC or announced for PC. That was all before the Play Anywhere thing happened.

Only Sunset Overdrive, Forza and Halo 5/MCC were actual exclusives.

Germany show no love to Gravity Rush 2?

Interesting sales numbers. Previously, I had questioned whether or not the One was ahead of the Wii U in Europe, and these numbers tell me that we're going to need more EU figures before giving the One the silver. Hopefully the S will give Microsoft a much needed boost in EU and beyond.

Fun fact: You can get a XO with 4-5 new games for about 222-245€. Most Wii U bundles on the other hand are still listed for 250-300€, And you got only one game with the Nintendo console...

Xbox One is comfortably ahead Nintendo Wii U in Europe.

Nintendo Wii U has only shipped 3.53 million systems in (Other) regions. Xbox One is above 3.5 million sell-through with just UK, France and Germany.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Well...to be fair its not like the system is selling well outside of these mayor market. Even if they have sold more its kinda sad when you consider that the WiiU has been in a coma state for over a year and never really got essential price drop.

Thats worrisome close for Nintendo. Nintendo and Sony were always clear leaders, MS never stood a chance.

The Wii U has been a done and dusted failure for years now. Nintendo would be more worried about not effing up the NX than checking where the dead Wii U compares to other systems.

If anything, it's worrisome for MS in Germany that it's taken this long to beat out one of the worst selling consoles of all time.

uh, there's no question....

Not surprising at all, I often see 199€ deals for XO here in France and in Belgium/Germany too... And even at 199€ (for a 500Go XO + Quantum Break) people still don't care...

I think when it comes to exclusives, Europeans are more attracted by Japanese ones than Americans ones. We prefer Dragon Quests, FF, and other JRPGs over Gears, Halo, Forza, etc.

(I'm not talking about everyone, don't come like "oh but I'm German and I prefer Gears over JRPGs, how do you explain that?"...)

Also MS bringing 99% of their exclusives on PC won't help them to sell consoles. You can get FH3, Gears 4, Quantum Break, ReCore, Scalebound, etc, all on PC, so why bother buying a XO for that, especially in a country where PC gaming is very popular like Germany.

And this with MS doing deals in Germany all the time .

It's also the same Microsoft that had a horrendous reveal of their console ("USA!!!"), has exclusives that are not available in Germany (e.g. the Dead Rising games, certain Gears of War titles, the Crackdown series) and has a line-up that....maybe just isn't appealing to Germans. It probably also doesn't help that they're bringing some of their titles to PC, nor do they seem to put more effort into convincing customers than their competition.

People can claim all they want that Germans just love Sony, but honestly Microsoft hasn't really given consumers a reason to jump over. When you sell less than Nintendo, maybe you just fucked up.

I feel like people give Microsoft way too much lenience when it comes to their performance outside the US. Those are horrendous sales and maybe Microsoft should take a better look at themselves.

Interesting. Has the One sold over 5 million in EU to date?

Even last gen when Sony did everything wrong they still out sold MS in Germany .
Which is one of the reasons why people say Germany loves Sony .
So it's not a current gen thing , it just worst this gen .

Anyone remember before this generation started that Microsoft wanted 40% market share in Germany?

Good times.
