FINAL FANTASY XV: The English Voice Cast

I dunno if all of them had engines, but they sure looked cool.

I was watching the old trailers and i love how noctis just snaps a guys neck then breaks another's arm and uses the gun in hand to fire at his comrades.

Thats great.

Ash was amazingly well voiced,as was every character in XII.

I wonder if she'll be a minor character then. SE avoid using the same VA for the main characters of main FFs. If they do get a previous VA, they usually use them for side characters.
Lulu's VA, Paula Tiso, is the same one as Jill's.
But hey at least you get to fight Aranea. haha

Also, Luna's VA sounds like it would of been fine for the movie.

I love the EN cast! Judging by Iris' voice though, I think she sounds like Eden Riegel who played Sherry Birkin in Resident Evil 6.

Why, should they all sound american? lol.

they should either all have the same accent if they are from the same city. if luna and ardyn had british accents, but all the lucian characters had american ones or vice versa, it would be fine. but now you have a father and son with different accents despite being born and raised in the same place. just feels corny. like the butler archetype guy obviously is british for no reason other than that is the stereotype.

Yeah i think the accents are all over the place. Then somewhere out of the city you have a bunch of hicks.

Ignis was raised and received his studies outside of Insomnia.

I hope she's well used but I dont expect her to be.

I wonder if we'll her XIII voices here and there.I used to think Regis was Caius VA but he isn't.

link? and what about regis?
It was the London ATR before Duscae. No idea why Regis sounds the way he does, but that's the only puzzling choice regarding accents. Maybe they wanted to highlight the differences between him and Noctis being rebellious? Idk.

Most of the voices are actually quite good, I don't understand all of the flak this game is getting for them. I especially appreciate Darin De Paul's raw enthusiasm when it comes to Ardyn, it's so charming! The vocal range on some of these guys is absolutely insane too (looking at you De Paul and Parson). Junkrat and Reinhardt? And just listening to Parson's normal speaking voice. It couldn't be more different from Gladio's, it's really astounding.

Really? I never really heard Liam O'Brien coming from Regis or any one in the cast.

I rather have the cast be unique. Hopefully they'll do another video with the rest of the cast:

Aranea , Iris, Ravus , Iedolas , Cindy, Cid, Gentiana, and uh is this guy:

still in the game?

thats a 2 hour video lol. any specific source? all i can find credited to interviews is that they are childhood friends and that ignis received special training. i think its more likely that its just a corny anime butler trope.

Verstael is still in.

I think for casting, they nailed Cid, Cidney, and Ardyn in particular. I've had the gameplay video playing at the background at times when I'm doing other stuff and I'm convinced all three VAs are great fits.

Cidney and Cid have a playful enough role where they don't feel like they're saying the wrong lines. The problem with some of Ardyn's lines is that they're really enigmatic yet none of the guys questions him on what he's actually trying to say lol.

Can't be bothered to time stamp lol. Maybe someone else can do it for me.

Oh God I just saw this video and I'm not here to complain about the voice cast. I thought they are fine. I'm here to express my concern over spoilers. The clips shown in this video seemed a little too spoileriffic! Tell me I'm overreacting and they spoiled nothing important.

Iedolas, Versetel and Ravus get basically no limelight any previews. I think I best accept they will all get the Jihl Nabaat treatment and only appear in a handful of cutscenes each before being thrown overboard.

Iedolas is this game's evil emperor and they don't do much but die by the real villain unless he is another Mateus, which is doubtful.

Versetel its evil scientist. And unless he's a Hojo, well....

Ravus is the only one from the set that could become a villain or be the villain of the game. At least we saw his game model.

Luna's VA might be the only one I don't like, although it could be because it's the first time we're listening to her.

Also every time I hear Cor now I'm a just think "It's High Noooon."

Ardyn is perfect and the only one I wouldn't change. Regis is good too but I would love if Bean still voiced him. If Regis doesn't have that many lines then I'm a just wonder why they didn't sneak in a few scripts while he was recording KG.

That's what I felt too. It's like they don't even give a shit. I hope I'm wrong.

Um they didn't really show that many new scenes except for the one where they're sitting at the camp site. The Luna scene was shown before but with a little more. Every other scene was either in the E3/Uncovered trailer but expanded a little bit more in order hear some lines of dialogue.

Also is just me or did Luna got a redesigned. For the better.

Tis a shame, I always hoped the writing and VA direction for this game would align more with XII, but it seems to give me a similar vibe to XIII. Thankfully it's a notch or two above XIII, but still nowhere close to the gold standard that is FFXII!

10 years later they should be able to do better than XII. But alas...

The problem with an in media res intro is that Ignis was there at the beginning so we know that a)none of them die, (at least until Chapter 0), and b)none of them probably do something so drastic as to be thrown out of the group forever. :/ Definitely would be worried about the supporting cast tho.

Given the small cast, I wouldn't assume any of them die/leave until perhaps the very end of the game.

And I still think that assuming Chapter 0 takes place right at the end is a mistake.

Is there an RPG game with better voice-acting then XII? Like gahdamn, impeccable acting. Balthier (Gideon Emery?) deserves an award for that shit

Edit: I definitely meant JRPG's, my fault everyone that replied

From what I've played, Witcher 3, Bloodborne and Dragon Age: Inquisition are easy answers.

XII's obviously not bad but I wasn't super impressed with it.

For JRPG's FFXII is pretty much top tier.

RPG's in general are a whole different beast though. The Witcher 3 is king there.

I will never ever be able to read that correctly, I just see Legolas.

Reading this thread makes me appreciate how little I actually know about this game. Quite unusual for me this close to release but i'm ok with it.

This works for me once you just go with how hammy it sounds. The actors sound like they're having a blast, why wouldn't I?

You know, I really, really hope the leak is completely wrong, and chapter 0 bit is merely akin to that of the end of world of balance in FFVI, as it opens up a whole new chapter of the game with a world of ruin. I'm a proponent for simple and straightforward stories, but I would be lying if I said I don't want any suspense and unexpected plot twist and exciting surprises. Would be cool to let us play as old Noctis for longer than just an hour or two game time, maybe even for half of the game. That would be interesting.

You know what would make it even more interesting though, it's something completely unexpected, like say Noctis dies, and player switch perspective to Luna midway through the game, and she received Noctis's abilities up until that point. That would be pretty fucking cool.

I think the possibility is strong for it.
Tabata said the leaks didn't get everything right. The Plague of the Stars sound like some event. Red Sky/Moon probably connects to it and it what the world will look like. Pretty much every cold open that has a scene from the future showing our characters in a shitty situation don't actually happen at the very end. Them revealing Old Noctis model probably means we'll play as him more than we think. Would seem weird for them to release that if we only play him in the last hour or so. FFVI is Tabata's favorite. Might be wishful thinking but I could see it happening.

Going off topic here slightly. But how do they match the lip sync up to the various languages? And what about the pre rendered stuff? Is that just done to match one language? If so does it look odd when other languages are dubbed over? Thanks

It'd be cool if the earlier regions you visit in the game are plagued with overpowered beasts after a certain point, akin to Dragon's Dogma post-game.

Could happen.
I think the trigger will occur after whatever occurs in Insomnia in the Chapter 0 part. Insomnia is right next to hammerhead and the starter area.

In the case of in game stuff FFXV employs 2 methods of lip sync. Hand animated and automatic.

Important scenes have hand animated lip sync and therefore must be reanimated to match the audio of another language. Voice actors are instructed to match the timing of the original Japanese performance as best as possible so that they can redo the lip sync a lot easier.

Not so important scenes and any banter spoken in the open world is completely handled by their auto lip sync system. It does it's best but it's really obvious when that's in use. No additional work must be done when switching between languages when working with the auto lip sync system. Systems like these tend to work by analyzing the audio being played in real time, and matching that sound to a mouth position. Because of that they are language independent.

For prerendered scenes, it's the same as the hand animated lip sync, but they must completely rerender and store a separate movie file for each language. Because of this method, in FF13's PC release, an extra 20GB of data was included so that they could support Japanese and English. The extra data was the Japanese FMVs. For FFXV this shouldn't be a big problem as there doesn't seem to be that much in the way of prerendered content.

Honestly, I hope the leak is wrong too. I don't want to judge the story based on few bullet points about it but to be completely frank the payoff seems kind of anti-climatic to me. I know the journey is everything, but I am hoping for some divine elements in the story or something that's so memorable it will leave me thinking about it for weeks. I remember when TLOU did that, it was a simple straight forward story but everything about it in the end made it the best story ever. I wouldn't mind a scenario where we get to control Luna (it would be so awesome) but I feel its highly unlikely. The least they could do is give me a lore I could get immersed in.

Her face looks very slightly different from previous promotional trailers. Very slightly.

Noticed it too and it looks way better now, imo. Subtle but effective change.
