Dammit, I didn't even know this was a thing until now, and it's already too late to get a reasonably priced one. It's even got volleyball in it!

Check the ebay link a few posts above you. It's $32.
They're also back up on VideoGames Plus.

Sweet, nabbed one from the ebay link. Thanks! Is this online capable, or ad hoc only? I am going to force my friends to buy this too so we can relive super dodge ball memories.

Holy hell, did we know how limited this was going to be before today? I had it wishlisted on Amazon for awhile but noticed I could never pre-order or anything. Would have liked the keychain, but I went ahead and ordered off of Ebay. How did that seller even get copies? I assumed GameStop would also get some, but I guess not? This is stressing me out for Wild Guns.

I don't find it listed in Europe anywhere. Anyone know if they are going to release it here as well?

Edit: I see that it has already been answered above = not likely :/

Ended up ordering via play-asia.com last night back when shipping was still 24hr (it's one week now). I don't care about the keychain, but gonna miss free Amazon shipping :(

Shit, had no idea quantities were this limited.

Got mine in the mail last night...ordered from a Canadian retailer.

There shouldn't be any issues playing it in a US 3DS, right? NTSC-UC and all that.

Went up about 8 -9 hours ago actually.

Guess so, I just assumed NeoGAF was right on it. Either way, it went up several hours early, and even those who had wishlisted it (because there was no way to pre-order) had no notification that it was available. I guess I hope it was just a rush of Kunio-Kun fans who found it and bought it

Play-Asia still has it, minus keychain.

My pre-order just went through. I don't like the conflicting delivery time message, though... "Delivers 10/12/16 to 11/05/16." / "Usually ships within 1 week"

You never could pre-order it. This is an Amazon 3rd Party Vendor page, so it didn't have the normal features. The listing went up (and then came down) but it was always wishlist-only, with the plan of launching the storefront and the order system on the same date.

So yeah, Natsume, take this as the wrong way for servicing fans and see what you can do about improving the system for next time. (Then again, copies sold through, so that's a success in and of itself.)

Now I'm stressed for Wild Guns too...

So the Ebay listing has now been jacked up to $55. Meanwhile, on their Facebook page, Natsume commented: "Stay tuned for an announcement later today."

I'll be annoyed if they put it back up for sale on Amazon (w/ keychain) after I panicked and bought from an Ebay seller.

EDIT: And the listing is back down to $39 now. Also, they deleted their Facebook comment, but they're saying this on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Natsume_Inc/status/780820942800814080

It's back up on Amazon from a third party seller (not Natsume) for $39.99.

I wonder if it has the key chain.

They could be deploying in waves like LRG does.

Looking for a Physical Copy of River City: Tokyo Rumble?
River City Fans:

Today is the launch day of the long-awaited River City: Tokyo Rumble. Finally, River City is back! The game is available digitally on the Nintendo eShop and physically at select retailers, such as Crunchyroll.com, Gamefly.com, and GameQuestDirect.com. It is also avaible in Canada with Videogameplus.ca.

Unfortunately Natsume's Amazon store is currently sold out. Sales of the game well exceeded what we thought the demand would be for physical copies. While we're excited about how much enthusiasm there was for the physical release, we know that a lot of you are disappointed you can't buy the game right now, and for that, we are very sorry.

However, we're working on restocking the physical version, right now. While we don't have an estimate when these will arrive and go on sale yet, they will go directly to Amazon so they can be up for sale as quickly as possible. These copies will also have the Kunio keychain!

We thank everyone for the support that brought about a physical run of River City: Tokyo Rumble. Your voices were heard, and were making it happen.

-CeeCee, Community Manager, Natsume Inc

PS: In case you haven't heard, we're also producing a physical edition of Wild Guns: Reloaded for PS4 later this year.

Not angry that I gave money to PlayAsia, they're a hard-working company doing a mom-and-pop service that's rare these days ... but it did cost me more, and I'm not getting my keychain. Meanwhile some eBayer is making bank flipping copies to desperate Kunio-Kun fans and game collectors. I feel like I should be a happier game buyer than that guy...

This is the first time that Natsume has done something like this, and they had some technical problems and other issues, so I do hope things go better by the time Wild Guns comes out.

Did some digging on DealsTavern because I was genuinely curious how they had so many copies of the game. Apparently they are the same company as GameQuestDirect, who deals in reprinting and distributing games. So maybe they're the ones handling the manufacturing and distribution of the game in the first place?

If they are and they were chosen by Natsume as an official vendor, then there was no reason to fluctuate the price to take advantage of stock availability panic. Pick better partners, if that's the case, ones who don't jack prices against fans and don't leave fans huffy in what should be a time of such joy as a River City release.

(EDIT - I may have been confused with DealsTavern and other eBay posters who were mentioned as taking advantage. If DealsTavern was on the up-and-up the whole time and sold it at the proper price, I do apologize.)

I don't know why I thought this would be rare like this...

Man! I was totally asleep at the wheel.

Bought on ebay... looking forward to playing!

I emailed them to ask and they said:

Thank you for contacting us. Yes; through Amazon River City: Tokyo Rumble with Limited Edition Kunio Keychain does come with a key chain. Thank you.

EDIT: Uh wow, it's sold out already.

I'm tempted to get a 3DS for this game.

Tell me not to do it GAF. ;_;

Nyet, I cannot do that...

I do hope that this is successful and Natsume/Arc System Works look at a wider variety of platforms for the Kunio-Kun series (PC/PS3 already got Super Sports Challenge All Stars Special,) but 3DS is a fine platform and will offer a number of other titles to reward your purchase.

Maybe pick up a 2DS if you're on a budget?

2DS is a $69 refurb on store.nintendo.com. Worth it IMO.

Loved RCR. All this talk of scarcity, pulled the trigger from Amazon. Deal Tavern. $40+$4 shipping. Supposedly get the keychain.

Scott pilgrim is a linear BMU to my knowledge.

I'm more concerned about the gameplay flow. If this is supposed to be an RPG that contrasts with how BMUs usually flow.

BMU? Beat Em Up? Is that what you're going for?

I haven't seen that acronym before. Are you the only one that uses it?

Can we make sure it's not used again? Nothing personal. It just doesn't make sense

Did the DealsTavern eBay link earlier for $32 and free shipping. Don't think it has the keychain but oh well. Just got the shipping confirmation that it's on the way

It's kind of upsetting that the US gets the keychain version and Canada doesn't. They have Amazon set up for US orders, why couldn't they offer the chain to Canada through VGP, similar to how they're doing with the game itself? :(

I ordered it regardless, but it's frustrating how we're missing out on that keychain, despite buying it at launch.

Have you not played Scott Pilgrim? It's a pretty good rip-off.

This post makes me sad. It reminds me of the Penny Arcade where Gabe is talking to Tycho about how much Warhammer is a ripoff of Warcraft.

River City Ransom was the first NES game my brother and I ever owned.
