Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer

HStallion

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
In all honesty I'd love to see this game turn into Rockstar's take on Blood Meridian but that might be something too intense even for the most jaded out there in interactive form. If they could make a character like the Judge, well shit this could be GOAT.

The small details are outrageous, like breathtakingly so. And knowing how clean the IQ is on the PS4 and Xb1 versions of GTAV has me salivating over the Pro and the Scorpio versions of RDR2

GTAV was the work of ultra talented obsessives like very, very small details you'd notice months or years later. I can only imagine what they'll stuff into this game.

Love how the look and vibe of this is more Deadwood/Hell on Wheels/The Revenant than the Spaghetti Western RDR did already, which is funny given the game has been cooking well before HoW and The Revenant were released. lol

Yes! More Cormac McCarthy less Sergio Leone. The original Redemption kinda sat in between those. I'll happily take less spaghetti for some more grits.

Blood Meridian is a masterpiece. If you haven't read it, and really want a novel that pushes you (in several ways) pick it up now!

I didn't know I needed this until now.

I said the same exact thing in the other thread. Playing as a member of a gang similar to the Glanton gang with a big bad like the Judge as the antagonist.

Looks amazing! Those saying teaser/short trailer - it's Rockstar and the game's a year away so this was pretty generous.

I really should re-read that book, I'll I can remember is the mentally handicap guy eating his own poop.

I said got damn at the environments, character models are alright... but those forest looked amazing.

YESSSSSSS. FINALLY. RDR is my favorite game of last gen, if not ever. Haven't played a single game in 3 years....looks like that will change in 2017. Time to get a PS4.

So you played RDR and thought it was the best game ever.

And then you stopped playing games.

OK, I guess that makes no sense.

RDR is all about the different western eras in movie history (with 1 region/story arc per era), it isn't restricted to Spaghetti.

Was all of that in-game?

According to Digital Foundry, it was all captured on a regular PS4. With Rockstar's Rage engine being at helm as to why it all looks so good. Rage engine on PS4 is able to cast long distance shadows, exhibit much better lighting rendering and display condensed levels of grass foliage, equalling something like high settings on PC.

In short, RDR2 is going to look amazing on just regular Xbox / PS4 versions. With PS4 Pro and Scorpio poised to look jaw-dropping seeing how great the IQ already is on a regular PS4.

Okay so I see I wasn't the only one that had GAF take a dump shortly after the trailer was released and there was 23 topics made about it in a one-two punch with the Switch announcement trailer.

Of course Rockstar would hype a trailer release and have it be a minute long with no details on anything other than a tease of some of the areas. I actually had to go back and check because it felt like 30 seconds.

I have no doubt in the game looking this good on the regular PS4/X1. I don't think people remember how jaw droppingly good GTAV looked on the PS3 and 360. As an open world game it was hard to believe what they achieved even with the issues that showed up with the frame rate and such. It wasn't perfect but damn if I wasn't blown away by what they were able to achieve.

They state they are not sure if it captured from a regular ps4 or pro version.

Oh my god

It's real, it's finally happening

Surprised they kept the redemption name and named it 2. Could've swore this series started with Red Dead Revolver even though the plots or stories aren't really connected, if at all (never played it)

The last scene made me think of online features/coop,imagine raiding banks, stealing cows etc with your friends while other players(bountyhunters, marshals) are trying to catch us

It looks nice. Maybe not quite as good as I thought it would, but I'm sure the Scorpio version will be the solution to that. Here's to hoping for major gameplay changes from the usual GTA formula (I know it's never going to happen).

great, now i need to buy a ps4.

thanks a lot R*, you clever bastards.

and i just know you'll release this for PC like years later, and i'll freaking buy it again.

clever, clever bastards

today's been such magic, this trailer, the Switch announcement, new movie trailers, BF1 tomorrow, WD S7 Sunday... my heart can't handle this.

That and the last shot with the gang on horses were great.

And music hit at the end with the gang is just sublime. New while still sounding unmistakably Red Dead.

Same here. Not complaining though.
Yeah. I really don't play it much, so I'm honestly looking forward to picking up some more games. Likely going to pick up a slim as well so my wife and I can get in on some of the bigger releases at the same.

That was such a tease!!!!

Damn you Rockstar, damn you to hell!!!

The camp fire scene with all the stars in the sky looks so good. I'm so hyped for this even though they really didn't show much. I should try and avoid seeing anymore media on this but I don't think I can do it!!! I want more, give me more Rockstar! Day one purchase for sure. Damn this is going to look sweet on PS Pro and Scorpio! Hey look at that, I rhymed!

Nice visuals, doubt it will even look that good on PS4 or XB1. This is the 2018 PC version.

Would love to see an actual trailer showing off a video game (i.e. gameplay)

btw, i think it'd be a perfect opportunity to use of Line of Fire (sung by Jose Gonzales) for the game.

man, i can't wait what they have in store for the music

It's so crazy because I associate "Crosses" with Life is Strange always and "Far Away" with RDR. I don't know if I want another one of his songs in the prequel, but he's so good that I can't say no to it!

It's going to be everything!

Please, companies are learning. It doesn't even look that good. Yes it looks great. But there's ton's of AA and shit I can see. Obviously not a completely polished build.

Absolutely stunning visuals, we should all just take a second and appreciate that games can even look like this now. All of those shots were painterly.

Are the Housers always the only ones responsible for the writing? I feel like the characters and plot in RDR was absolutely leagues beyond GTAV and IV, it had a maturity and depth they usually never have.

When do y'all think we'll see something next? My guess would be either at PSX or nothing at all until sometime in Spring of next year with a new trailer + GameInformer/IGN First-style coverage event.

It looks beautiful, and I'm shocked this is running on a regular PS4. Not really sure I want to play a prequel of an existing character though, but I guess we won't know more for a while.

I feel the same way. According to wikipedia writing credits for Red Dead Redemption are: Dan Houser, Michael Unsworth, Christian Cantamessa
GTAIV: Dan Houser, Rupert Humphries
GTAV: Dan Houser, Rupert Humphries, Michael Unsworth

But I don't know to what extent each had influence.
