Wouldn't be surprised if this is the acceptance speech

shit, that clip didnt cross my mind before.

I've always been a glass half-empty guy that wears a glass half-full blanket. Tonight has crushed the last bit of optimism I was holding onto. I'm ready for the Flood.

What happens if Trump is elected but then convicted when he has to appear in court for the child rape (in December I think)? Has any president elect had something remotely similar happen?

To all the lolol white people rage comments: Racism and xenophobia is manufactured by convincing poor and working class white's that minority group X is to blame for their shitty material conditions rather than those in power.

Bernie was able to pivot this rage against the right people, the billionaire class, and it was effective towards many potential Trump voters.

Clintonites wrote them all off as deplorables because the democratic party thought it could survive on identity politics over populist economic policies the majority of the country wants.

Excuse my ignorance since I don't know much about politics, are Republicans against social security and Medicare? My dad voted for Trump and he's on Medicare and recieves a monthly SS check so I'm worried about that now.

Yes. Your dad should have looked into this.

He most likely voted against his own interests.

of course not, because old white voters are on SS and Medi-care, so it's magically not socialism.

The biggest, meanest kid in school just fell down face first into a pile of shit.

The rest of the class would laugh, but everyone's afraid of the retaliation.

And now everyone has to figure out how to deal with an angry bully with a face full of shit.

As if he needed another Biff Tannen point of similarity.

A guy I know just texted me and after finding out the results he instantly regrets voting for gary johnson. He thought hillary got the election in the basket so he voted for whoever except trump or hillary.

The amount of hyperbole in here is ridiculous. Calm down. Reality is if you went into a coma and woke up 2 years from now, your life will likely be no different in terms of this election and the effects of it.

Like alarming levels of delusion.

I kind of agree here. I believe there's going to be some tension for the next few months, but after the dust settles, it's going to be business as usual. It's not like him winning turns us all into racists bigots.

Heck, most of the stuff he talked about doing isn't actually going to get done. He's not going to ban an entire religion and he's not going to build a wall. The president has some power, but he's not omnipotent.

I believe humanity will prevail.

I no longer consider America in that banner.

If we have failed on healthcare, we are now poised to fail the two biggest macro-problems to face the planet and society this century.

How the fuck can you have faith? Really, be real.

Because its not about "America" any more. Just like its not about China, Russia or anywhere else. We are rapidly communicating and diversifying information on a global basis at a rapid pace.

We are literally dealing with the growing pains of humanity becoming one thing, rather than separate uncommunicating things.

The change is gonna be tough be we will get through it.

This and Brexit proves that the majority of people on this planet are just fucking stupid.

I realized this when Bush was elected in 2000. That election really put things into perspective for me, that many Americans are dumb, ignorant people. Having worked in retail and dealing with stupidity every day just reinforced that even further. Its not just Americans either. I really think Democracy doesn't work when people who aren't informed on issues get to make all the decisions. We really need a better system, but even if there was one, it would be nearly impossible to implement without starting up a brand new country somewhere.

As a Korean, I'm so fucking worried right now.

After a fucking idiotic loon of a president controlled by Rasputin destroyed all relations with North Korea, now this orange bastard, who says protecting South Korea is a waste of money becomes POTUS.

Second Korean war incoming?

I'm a black gay male and I honestly have no idea anymore what to think.

I've voted in every local, state, and federal election since I was able to in 2005, for Tim Kaine as Governor in fact and the thought of even Trump being in history books as President makes me sick to my core...

This will regress social issues for generations...I'm legitimately worried for my ability to marry a man after Trump's first 100 days and I'm legitimately worried for muslim, latino and black men and women who will experience the full weight of his proposed policies....

We just elected a president whose closest experience to governing is sitting a big table yelling at celebrities on a shitty reality TV show.

C'mon, he's done more than that. We can't reduce our political opponents to caricatures if we want to learn how to beat them.

My brain is literally broken. I simply cannot comprehend Trump as being leader of the free world, one of the most powerful men on the planet.

I'm watching Idiocracy and South Park play out in real life.

And the Star Wars prequels of all things. I'm sure someone brought that up in the thread, but I've been away for a number of hours.

Indeed.

Trump will have to build a dam to hold all the tears from GAF and most of the media.

So from the tone of this post you're one of those "some people just want to watch the world burn" then if the most important things are GAF's tears.

Or did you want him to win.

So, uhm, what can be good from a Trump presidency?
If he follows through on his fight against corruption that would be good. I don't have much faith in his will or ability to move against moneyed interests though. Especially on energy when he is himself a climate change denier and conspiracy theorist.

Hey, you guys remember when Trump was into getting asbestos back into houses as a fire retardant? How he thought it would have saved the Twin Towers? Think that will be a thing again?

All the forum regulars who mocked posters for thinking Trump had a chance....smh. I think it's fair to say the average GAF poster doesn't know shit about middle America.

I slightly disagree with people saying GWB is preferable to Trump. GWB was just more polite, thus giving the illusion of decency relative to Trump. Trump isn't a war-hawk and he isn't religious. I think he's going to be a better president than Bush.

So you just ignore everything he says?

Trump is beyond a war-hawk.

Strap on your hooker ...
I'm fairly confident that once people actually see Trump in action with the president's day-to-day itinerary, they're going to turn on him hard. Supporters could hand-wave his peccadilloes and utter ineptitude with communication away when it was against someone they'd been trained to boo and hiss for 20 years, but when he's making us a laughing stock on the world stage or delivering some tone-deaf address about a national tragedy? His approval rating is going to crater, the Republicans that enabled him will be radioactive next election cycle.

Whereas with Hillary, I'm sure no matter how well she did, the right-wing would just fire off the same constant stream of unsubstantiated potshots that she was terrible, and Dems would suffer for it next go-round.

Now Repubs have the burden of accountability, and they've just appointed the worst possible person to bear it. It's bitter, bitter medicine for liberals now, but we may very well come out stronger for it.
