So basically xbox one owners have to recommend ps4 n pc owners to buy this game so xbox one owners can finally enjoy the game themselves one day.....ps4 n pc owners, you'd better buy this!!!!!! Or else!

If anything, it's Xbox One owners that have to worry more about the sales of most Japanese games on their platform than PS4 owners. Even Japanese 3rd party games happen to be more successful on Steam than on Xbox One.

Please for the love of god let this happen. especially nier 1 to be bc.

Been wanting the new nier and am so tempted to buy a ps4 just for that game (some others too). So buy this game people please.

The teams working on it though is god like and somewhat of a shame this game does not have the hype of other games that was announced at the same time.

Well, it'd probably help if Square would actually try pushing this game a bit in the west. They've barely talked about it at all since E3. Hopefully the fact that a bunch of journalists recently got to play the game and that Square actually tweeted about the game a bit means they'll ramp things up in a bit.

Well it got overshadowed the year it was announced by other big games. People called it to big 3 games of E3 but always left out nier.

But yeah they should also push it because now this game really needs to sell cause after watching a little bit of gameplay I'm sure everybody would want the shit out of this game.

Understandable I guess because the more audience the better, but I highly doubt it will sell hardly anything on XBox. I heard even FF15 preorders on XBox weren't that great, so I have a few doubts for Nier. Well, it's their game and entirely up to them, but I dread to see what it would sell like.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
One S momentum in the US and UK the last couple months showing its first impact. Guess they wanna be part of the MS eco system after all.

That's a huge leap.

Also I'm whoever runs the PS4 Pro topic has probably updated it, but this confirms Pro support for NieR Automata although I don't think this is first time that has happened.

Seems a bit risky, considering the sales of Japanese games and non shooters generally on XO are pretty poor even without hamstringing sales by releasing later on the system, but would be great for those that would want it on that platform.

Really though, if you're going to go multiplatform, go from day one. Timed exclussives are just silly and do more harm than good most of the time.

This doesn't appear to be a timed exclusive. At least not in the sense that it was bargained or paid for. This is most likely a situation where they decided to focus on the platforms that have a significant audience for this type of game. You are correct that a late port will probably lead to low sales which will reinforce the notion that the audience for these games does not exist on Xbox.

Its not that huge of a leap - One S has been performing quite well even though Scorpio already was announced. Next year MS will likely push for Windows 10 PC, XBO and Scorpio multiplattform releases, which will result in renewed interest for the eco-system.

So basically PC and console? That's not different than what is going on right now. I hope you are not talking about Play Anywhere because that isn't happening with 3rd party games. Also why are they not putting the mainstream games like Kingdom Hearts collection on Xbox if it is that simple? This is one game/dev decision that is not even decided. I'd pump the brakes on this being the start of a movement by Japanese developers to actually start supporting Xbox again. It's still selling awful in Japan and that's the start.

Doubt it'll make much of a difference. What's the last Platinum title, on any platform, that sold well anyway?

Platinum Games has only released two games that can be considered hits: Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising

Everything else either underperformed or bombed

This hasn't been on my radar but if an Xbox release does follow the PC and PS4 games then a Scorpio mode could make it pretty appealing.

So buy it PC and PS4 players :)

This is a pretty niche game that likely wouldn't have done all that well on Xbox if it was simultaneous release anyway. By delaying it and making a late port it will do even worse. If they plan on making an XB1 version, they should really get it out at the same time as the PS4 release. Late ports never relaly do well.

I don't understand the late port strategy a lot if companies make. Unless it's GTA, invariably you'll end up with worse overall sales for the title. Being day and date is the way to go.

Nah, he's right. The game will bomb on XB1 as well as on PC and PS4

I would not be so sure about that. This definitely seems to be an AA type production and I think has generated enough positive impressions to do well. Releasing it on PC day one probably raises it from a bomb to a moderate success. Of course they still need to deliver a quality game, but I really don't think that will be a problem.

Talk about overreaction :)
Nowhere did i say every jp dev will release its games on XBO starting now, just that the last couple months of XBO momentum might impact some devs to bring games to XBO which werent planned for it before.

That would be great for XB1 owners although i honestly don't see how can successful sales on PS4/PC could also justify an XB1 port. And if that's the case why not port it to Switch as well?

Your step 4 was incorrect.

Nah, he's right. I hate to say it, but I don't think it would perform well at all. I have doubts it's going to sell well on the PS4 and the PC in all honesty. I really hope it does because I loved Nier, but you know, causal gamers have particular tastes.......
