That... was amazing.

I'm fully on board, day one. Never knew I needed this in my life but I do now.

I really hope the 20 pages of positive impressions from people who mostly never have played Nier translates well into sales lol.

They've definitely got mine!

With the combined purchase power of Taro fans and P* fans this game might even be financially successful.

The dream is this is a hit and taro continues to collaborate with platinum. 5 hours away to get my hand on the demo.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Sometimes the girl shoots more powerful bullet. I'm not sure how I trigger that. No i'm not talking about the laser attack.

You have context moves post-dodge on an attack. Shooting is a charged shot, light attack seems like it's always a launcher.

Hope so. I still remember my reaction when I saw Nier 2 was really a thing in the first place, let alone having Platinum on the combat. Still can barely believe it.

Or with the combined niche of Taro and P* this game sells record low and Taro and Platinum never make any more games ever.

Fuck. Boss bullet hells are nastier on hard mode.

I see thanks.

So I take hard is the way to go if you played other PG games? But what is this talk about no lock-on on hard?

unless my game is bugged, you can't lock on with L2 on hard mode making enemies with projectile attacks more annoying.

I mean, the dude made Drakengard, Nier & Drakengard 3 and is somehow still directing video games for one of the biggest publishers in the business. As long as Yosuke Saito keeps Dragon Quest successful he'll just keep pressuring Square Enix into allowing him to make games with Yoko Taro :p

These animations are godlike.

Two things though before I continue:
- how do I lock on to an enemy? I know about the L2 "lock on" but it seems to be exclusively for the bullets?

- what is the pod L1 thing? It seems to deal damage and have a cool down, is it just another attack or sth special?

Reading comments about the music not being that great, I hope they are just different tastes. The original OST has a special place in my life

So, Bayonetta being the only thing I played from Platinum (and it's one of my fave games ever)

How does this game compares to Bayo?

Yeah. This is the game I've been waiting for. Awesome! demo, it was already a purchase. The game captures everything I liked about NieR. The demo felt like I was playing a PS3 game (in a good way). Lot's of fun, can't wait for the full release.

Loved the demo!!! A lot of fun to play and the story is clearly gonna be amazing.

The OST though, what a disappointment. Nothing on NIER 1...hope it is better in the main game. Felt forgettable (though coming off playing XV most OST's do)

Played the Nier demo, first time to the series. First off, substantial demo, plenty of time with the game to get used to the mechanics. Feels vintage Platinum, very satisfying control scheme. The ever changing camera angle from 3D to 2d, back 3D really gives the game a sense of scale. I'm always picky about English voice acting but it was surprisingly decent and not annoying in the slightest. Would love to see the pro version as it's a little rough around the does, jaggies all over the shop.

The last boss put a big smile on my face, Platinum fans will love it.

Colour me suprised. It's one of those demos that can really sell a game and this joins that small contingent. Went from 'I'll see how this plays out' to 'I'll be definitely getting this at some point'.

uhh.... I don't understand the reasoning behind this.

Lock-on means the pod auto targets and it makes it easy to dispatch enemies with just shooting bullets. I would have also liked lock-on for hard mode though. Maybe make it so that you can lock on to enemies, but not for the pod bullets.

You will get this game after it bombed and bought it as a $1 bargain bin and moan 'why more people didn't buy this game earlier so they could have made a sequel.', and write story about how awesome nier automata is at neogaf,

Typical cycle.

You can't lock on on hard and very hard, also on very hard you die in one hit. It tells you that right before you choose a difficulty.

At first I thought no lock on was Just Taro Yoko Things™, but being able to lock on to something and continue doing ranged damage while moving and dodging does make things easier.

😂 I would love to give this more attention but that comment was more to do with 'I'd rather get the best experience on a Pro which I do not posses yet'.

Skiesofwonder

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
I had zero interest in this game yesterday but now I'm day one. Damn this game is fluid, and I love comboing one enemy into the air while beaming another with my projectale.

Ahh, I understand now, didn't know about the pod (have yet to try the demo). But yeah, as you say, lock on for the character should be available.
