The subtle animations in this game (along with running) are some of the best in business. PG truly are the masters of animation work.

This + the great visual effects really make the combat encounters feel like some kind of acrobatic dance show.

Another thing to consider about dodge being OP is Very Hard being OHKO. It would be complete bullshit and nothing but a gimmicky difficulty if it wasn't considerably easy to avoid damage in general.

The Hell difficulties in DMC work because who cares, they're not replacing Dante Must Die, they're just gimmicks, but here it seems to be one of the intended challenge modes. And we might even get an unlockable difficulty.

Amazing demo. Will pre-order for sure.

I assumed these androids were going to be mostly emotionless and robotic characters, but they seemed to act very human.

Maybe the story explains them more in depth.

Overpowered dodging is fine, but it shouldn't have the extreme witch time style perks... like the DMC devil trigger style dodge launcher, is just a tad broken.

Part of the story is gonna be how these androids can feel emotion but aren't allowed to show them.

Finally played it. Overall I liked it a lot (even the sidescrolling sections which I was previously sceptical of) outside of the boss battles. They weren't as fun as just fighting normal enemies for me... Maybe second playthrough of the demo I will enjoy them more being more familiar with the game. Also looking forward to trying the Japanese voices on my second playthrough.

Oh yeah, I noticed L1 did something, what is that? I didn't understand it.

Laser beam.

Tried it on hard and it was better, not missing the lock on but surely missing something because it seems like every time you're hit the game auto uses a healing item? Am i just dying from every hit or what? Not sure what's going on. Prefer the japanese VO tbh.

Beat the demo. That was pretty great.

But do I only have a light attack, heavy attack, shooting and evade?

Pod attacks too.
Also
- Dodge + light
-Dodge+heavy
-Dodge+fire
- Hold button combinations
- Stuff im forgetting

Then further depth, since moves are unique based on timing, holding, airborne, combo strings etc.

I've never played NieR before or looked at anything really about the game as it never interested me. All I can say is that the demo was fantastic and I am totally on board come March. The themes of the story were interesting and
ending on such a cliffhanger was strong...
I wanna know what happens next.

Laser beam.

In the zone
I hit the meter
Break your throne
Me? Post leader, Ready for brawl
Gonna make it look easy even if it ain't because
I lead off, Life is short, I'm living it to the full
Cuz I don't wanna cry when my time is done
In the loophole voice telling me to run
Touch the sky son number one

There's a skill in the chip menu that auto-uses healing items. You can disable it if you want. On Very Hard it's automatically disabled.

Just finished it, amazing. Boss battle was really epic.

I'm not a huge fan of the sidescrolling segments however it does provide some interesting gameplay mechanics. Especially the top down segments are really fun to play, as it kind of turns the game into a twin stick shooter :D

Looking forward to playing the full game!

Incredible. Super impressed by the level of variety here. The game seamlessly morphs between several flavors of action game and nothing feels tacked on or out of place. I can't imagine we've seen more than a fraction of the tricks it has up its sleeve either.

uhm...I'm pretty sure I have never seen the OT for Nier so how the fuck can a demo warrant 1300+ replies?

Anyway, going to try it out myself now....after I've done my shopping ^^

Have they talked about the length of the game? Do you need to go through multiple times in this one too?

Game is basically cult at this point. On release, the critical reception was mediocre.

I was planning on Very Hard before, but seeing the amount of bullet hell and no lock-on in hard modes, I am not so sure. I am not really a fan of bullet hell stuff anyway.

Regardless, will see how fast the game loads on SSD on PC to decide further. Also, will have to set up a macro to toggle Pod-Fire on/off rather than having to hold a button.

I'm not looking forward to the ending that will be considered bad with the Yoko taro writes. Still curious if taro was trolling when he said this was going to have a happy ending.
Wouldn't be surprised if it's a happy ending. SE is probably pushing him for more mainstream stuff. ;p

That was great.

Are you supposed to be able to just spam R2 to dodge the double chainsaw boss attacks? It made the fight trivial cause he couldn't hit me at all.
